Good morning.  Happy Mole Day!  Thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily.

Another lovely day in store for us, sunny and a high of 22°C (72°F).

I don't have a mother-in-law (but I miss her), my DH has a wonderful MIL.🙂

Love, love, love the quote.

The meal sounds good, so does the drink and wine.

Prayers for everyone.  I hope everyone has something to celebrate.

Have a wonderful day.

Stay safe.

Thank you for the Sunday report, Rich.  Not much on any of those days although there are some really good Mother-In-Laws.  I love the Tolkien  quote but have not been to today's port.  I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Chilled Grape and Cranberry Soup, Ribeye Steak and Cherry Sundae, as served on MS Amsterdam October 23, 2017.  I got engrossed in the meal and forgot to take a photo that day.

Today’s care list:

RIP kochleffel’s friend Fran 10/16/22
RIP StLouisCruiser friend Beverly 10/18/22

Vict0rian’s cousin in final stages of ALS
Luvteaching DH recovering from fall and facing dimentia

Sandi’s neighbor Linda

Celebrations and Shoutouts:

Awesome sailaway for Nieuw Statendam

Thanks for posting these.  Minor correction to Rotterdam (I am aboard now).  There are three terminals in New York:  Manhattan (which is where we are docking, on the West Side - Pier 88), Brooklyn (Red Hook, used by Cunard and Princess), and Cape Liberty, which is really in Bayonne, NJ, and is used by Royal Caribbean and Celebrity.  We (Rotterdam) are most definitely not docking at Cape Liberty.

Good afternoon. After sailing since yesterday afternoon we are now on the Rhône in L’Hermitage, France. Beautiful village. We will be going on another wine tour this afternoon. I was finally able to post some food porn pictures earlier today on the Saturday Daily. Chef Voltaggio’s dinner last night was superb and he had a wonderful cooking demonstration this morning.

Off to check out the neighborhood.

Thanks for the report and listings.

Queso" is cheese in Spanish.  A quesadilla is a Mexican dish consisting of a tortilla that is filled primarily with cheese, and sometimes meats, spices, and other fillings, and then cooked on a griddle or stove. Traditionally, a corn tortilla is used, but it can also be made with a flour tortilla.

Here is the “ultimate” quesadilla recipe.

A plate of quesedillas and toppings.

These quesadillas contain a meat filling.

Thank you for today’s Report & Daily, Rich! Welcome home to you & the rest of the cruising Dailyites! That includes Graham & Pauline - what a lovely way to remember Pauline’s Mother.

Thank you for keeping our lists, Roy!  A dark, but warmer morning here. The waning crescent moon is still in the Eastern sky!🤔 Gym, grocery shopping & more gardening are in my future. I found that I have at least 5 Meyer lemons ripening this year. Already double what I had last year. We had 20 degree temps just as the flowers were blooming, so I wasn’t sure if I would have any this year.

Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone!

*******

Left Coast White Pinot Noir Oregon

We may have already seen this wine as a wine du jour. But it has been awhile. I always have a bottle of this wine in “my celler”.  Great with food or by itself.  Not as dry as some red Pinot Noirs & it has a lovely medium body and a very smooth finish. My HOA’s Golf Club sponsored a wine tasting my first year here and this was one of the wines I was introduced to there. And the rest is history. Available from numerous online distributors with prices starting at $17.99. I used the 2020 vintage’s info for this post.

Winemaker Notes

Unique and bold, a blend that combines the beauty of a Pinot Noir with the brightness and acidity in a white wine.
JS90 James Suckling
White flowers, sliced apples, pears, lemons and stones on the nose. Hints of white pepper, too. It’s medium-bodied with crisp acidity and a creamy texture. Fresh, clean finish.

Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida.

My mother in law was very nice but I have no use for moles and quite a few talk show hosts.

Quesadillas are pretty good.

Looks like we're going to have a Houston-Philadelphia World Series. This year's playoffs have proved that anything can happen in a short series as very good teams like the Dodgers, Mets, Braves and Cardinals were knocked out in the early rounds.

Thanks for The Daily, everyone stay well and have a great day.

A very early good morning all - been up since 6am to put a quiche in the oven.

Thank you for the lists - so many who could use our prayers; hoping that you all get through these hard times quickly.  I've been a mother-in-law now for four years, and am blessed to have a fantastic son-in-law who is the reason for that 'title'...he and my daughter, along with Lana and granddog Dean have been here at the house since Thursday (which is why I've been virtually off the computer!).  They had a good friend's wedding to attend, so it was Camp Grammy and Grampy for the grands this weekend!

Quesadillas are a favorite of mine, but I think we'll end up eating leftovers from the weekend today to clean out the fridge.

The weather has been spectacular since they arrived, which makes walking Dean a delight.  The leaves are finally hitting their stride on color, and against the deep blue sky even more vivid.  Having them here has also meant a long weekend away from work, something I quite desperately needed.

I did get to do something I'd never done before, and that's ride in a fully-electric car!  The kids just recently bought a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and that's the car they drove north in.  I can't believe how quiet they are!

Some rain due in this afternoon, so after we say our goodbyes and my daughter and her family hit the road, it will probably be time for a nap.  Hope everyone has a good day today!

Good afternoon.

It is currently raining and 12°C here.

Thank you for today's fleet reports and Daily Rich.

Pauline and I both agree that we had amazing Mother in Laws.

Mole's can ruin your lawn so we do not like them.

I will give today's food and drink a miss.

Prayers for everyone they can help.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy day.

Graham.

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report.  It’s going to be a cooler day and rain is on the way.  After a quick run to Aldi I’ll stay home.  Yesterday I washed a few more windows as I prepare for winter.  I asked DH to put away a container of ties and that made him look at his clothes closer.  He now has two bags of clothes to donate.  @0106 thank you for the pictures and recipes, the second one looks very appealing.  It was nice watching a sail away from Port Everglades and the toots were wonderful.  Looking forward to hearing them live again.  I hope everyone has a good day today.

Thank you for today's lists Roy and for your nice message for our cruise.

This week I have an appointment on Wednesday for hip X-rays and it is my 66th birthday on Thursday 27th and I will officially be a Pensioner.

Thanks for our Sunday Daily, Rich.

Interesting collection of Days.  I think I will celebrate MIL day with a prayer for mine in heaven.  Love the Tolkien quote.  DH would love today’s meal.  Thanks @0106Tina for the variations 👍

Looks like my plans for today have changed - like it or not.  Spent longer on leaves and outside than planned yesterday putting me behind.  And, now I need to get on the phone to HAL reservations - no proper boarding pass for the cruise.   No bar code and nothing on Navigator but an error.  Grrr.

And out to find some type of groceries or good fake n bake for my dear friend. (I’ve been trying to clean out my fridge so don’t have much).  She was prepping her brother’s stuff for his nursing home and got the call that he passed away suddenly.  Sound familiar?  My heart is breaking for her 💔

And hopefully get somewhere on the packing today 🤞 No rest for the wicked..

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them, for Ukraine, those suffering from Ian and Fiona and those who need them.  And a 🥂  to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a good Sunday everyone.  Stay safe.

Good morning friends!  Up a little later today (day off from exercising), and found the temp was 39F.  The rest of the day it will be sunny and up to 74.  It looked like a big gathering up at the end of the cul de sac yesterday afternoon for the shrimp boil.  The mail truck drove up the street delivering mail, then had to turn around, skipping quite a few mailboxes due to the congestion at that end.  Today we may make a grocery run, or since we're retired and not on a schedule we could laze around and do that tomorrow.  We shall see!

Yesterday I found out DS and Ren, along with one of his teammates Colton were asked to help fill out a year-older Jaguar team at a game in Cincinnati.  The team had too many injured players so the Dads drove the boys south 250 miles to play that game, which the team actually won 5 - 1.  The most exciting part of the day was the playing field is 5 minutes from DD's home so the four of them were able to stop in before the game to visit with DD for a while.  Then DD got to watch the soccer game and help cheer the older Jaguar team to victory.

Thanks Rich @richwmnfor posting our Daily this morning.  I hope you got a good rest last night after your cruise and travel day.  Yep, I'm a mother-in-law and hopefully my kid's spouses believe I'm a good one.  My own MIL is gone and so is DH's MIL.  I was confused by the mole day celebration but it was actually a chemistry related celebration.  Here's what Wikipedia says about it.

Mole Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated among chemists, chemistry students and chemistry enthusiasts on October 23, between 6:02 a.m. and 6:02 p.m.,[1][2] making the date 6:02 10/23 in the American style of writing dates. The time and date are derived from the Avogadro number, which is approximately 6.02×1023, defining the number of particles (atoms or molecules) in one mole (mol) of substance, one of the seven base SI units.

Not a fan of TV talk show hosts anymore.  The quesadillas look very good.  Nice quote.  The port of Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt was listed here on Nov. 6, 2021 so here is the link.

I have not been there before.  Several cruises with that port have been cancelled for DH and I.  I am scheduled to go there next fall, but I have a feeling we will not be on that cruise I'm sorry to say.  I hope some photos show up here today for us all to view.

Thank you Roy @rafinmdfor our lists today.  I'm happy to toast the Celebration list people.  Prayers for those on the Care list.  Extra prayers for the Ukraine, and sufferers from Ian and Fiona, and Linda and Beverly.  Thanks Graham @grapau27for Father David's sermon today.  I planned on watching the sailaway yesterday but found myself headed to our nap room for a little rest and missed it!  Hoping everyone has a great Sunday, and stays safe.

Good morning. It is cloudy here with rain expected later. I had a wonderful  mother in law and now try to be a good one myself. I will  leave out the other two days but enjoy the recipes and the quote.

I am making a huge pot of vegetable and bean soup that will be for dinner later. I think we have  all had a long and tiring week and  need some comfort food  today.

@grapau27, Graham and Pauline, I was very touched by the way you two  celebrated  Pauline's mam on your cruise. it looks like a lovely ship and the two if you looked great .

@Quartzsite Cruiser,  Lenda, I hope all goes well tomorrow  with the second surgery.

Take care everyone.

Good morning, everyone!

It is nice to be posting from the comforts of home.  I'm going to do my laps and then get packing in earnest.  I think I can make a big dent in what is left to pack.  The kitchen is the hardest because I am still using a lot of that stuff!  I think I'll have to pare down operations there and rely more on microwave meals perhaps.

I want to thank Tina @0106 for the wonderful job she did on the Meal of the Day while I was gone.  It was nice to be able to kick back, relax, and disengage from the world a bit.  The best part was no political ads on TV.  But, that will soon be over and we'll have a respite for a bit.  I think I like what is done in other places where campaigning is restricted to 6 weeks before the election.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Fran's memorial service was yesterday afternoon at her church. I was ill and didn't attend; I also missed the service in the synagogue yesterday morning. According to reports, it was a shock: the pastor delivered a long, fire-and-brimstone sermon, condemning the listeners for sin. I don't know the custom of that church or whether that is typical at a funeral, although I've never heard of it anywhere else. About 25 people from the synagogue attended and some wondered whether it was special for them. Fran was an exceptionally kind and generous person, which made it even more unexpected.

To my taste, Oregon produces the best red Pinot Noir in the world, and I don't think I've ever drunk a white Pinot Noir from Oregon.

Good morning everyone.  Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists.  Got both my Covid booster and flu vaccine yesterday, needless to say I’m out of sorts today!  My wonderful mother in law is in heaven and I do miss her.  Moles can be very disruptive little creatures.  Don’t really watch talk shows anymore but I fondly remember Mike Douglas, Phil Donahue and Johnny Carson.  I really like the quote as well as the meal suggestion.  I’ve never had Horchata but would like to try it some day.  Haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today!

I'm saddened to hear about Frans funeral service and yourself being ill and unable to attend.

Father David presided over both Pauline and my mam and dad's funerals and came for lunch afterwards at a hotel we arranged for guests after the funeral.

Father David made the service's so special.

Graham.
