StLouisCruisers Posted October 29, 2023 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2023 Good morning friends! A beautiful moon out there! The weather here is 56F and a high of 81 with sunny skies is expected today. Thank you Rich @richwmn for your Daily and Fleet Report. Looks like a good day yesterday for Georgia. Also Ohio State won and Michigan didn't play. I didn't watch football but I did look for scores this morning.🏈 And I see the Diamondbacks tied the Series last night, so Joy @Seasick Sailor must be sad.😒 Well, some interesting days for us to look at. Hermit Day? Meaning the crabs? Well I guess someone will have a fine day with their hermit crab. The big one is National Cat day and I hope all here with cats enjoy that celebration. The most serious one would be Psoriasis Day. That is a challenging condition and I wish anyone suffering from it well. The quote is too deep for early morning! I'll be interested in seeing the recipe for the chicken thigh dish today. No thanks to the cocktail or red wine. Hurray for King Cyrus "the Great" of Persia for freeing the Jewish captives in 539 BC. Many thanks to Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for their great reports every day. Prayers for those at war and the people lost on both fronts. Hoping the hostages can be found and released soon! Also the people who lost loved ones in the Maine shooting this week. Plus my DB, friends Scott, Susan, Bob, Sandy and Susan's DB Mark. May all our Daily friends find better health and no pain very soon, especially Vanessa @JazzyV and Tana. Prayers Baby Murphy is headed in a better direction and will be able to go home sometime in the near future. So sorry to hear of the sudden death of Matthew Perry. 🙏 Hurray for the Celebration list folks having happy events and wonderful cruises! Thank you Vanessa @JazzyVfor the great lists you keep for everyone each day!🥂🚢 The port this morning is Maloy, Norway, another first time destination. I haven't been to that port and adore visiting Norway so would love to see your photos! No links to help you out but don't worry, we'll wait! Thank you in advance. Have a wonderful day today. Stay safe and well! 30
RMLincoln Posted October 29, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2023 (edited) I love today’s quote by TS Eliot. Right now it seems appropriate for my move. Since our approval letter came the days are zooming by. 2 1/2 weeks left here! Barely time to think but it’s all good and we’ll have family here surrounding us for nearly half of those days. Had a nice supper with my closest friend last night. She’ll be with us the day the movers come for moral support! I’ll need it for sanity! Many thanks for all your encouragement! I’m feeling at peace. Great to hear Murphy continues to get stronger. Lots of better news on the thread, now if Vanessa can get some relief! Blessings to all in need of an extra blessing today! Cheers for everyone celebrating Life! Smooth travels to all away. Hoping Annie and Chuck have a great crossing. Onward! seagarsmoker Posted October 29, 2023 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2023 Good morning dailyites, cruising towards the southern Caribbean. Thank you for the Daily Report. Cloudy, windy morning so far. Mucho wave action and swaying nicely by the Seaview pool. 😀 I am going to meet n greet later this morning, otherwise not much else going on for us today. Yesterday was a zoo at the port. No priority boarding for us again as most of the land staff had no idea what they were doing. I shrugged it off and went with flow eventually getting on the ship around noon. Usual lunch and dinner in the lido. Food was very good and many choices. I hope everyone has a wonderful day! 35
Rare puppycanducruise Posted October 29, 2023 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2023 Good morning. Thanks for the Report. A cool day in store for us. I think hubby and I may go for a drive and see the fall colours. I'd like to get some fresh picked apples too. Sad to hear about Matthew Perry. RIP Hermit Day? I like people but somedays I'm like Garbo "i want to be alone" (did she really say that, probably not). Many people love cats, my brother has 3. I'm sorry for those that suffer with psoriasis. Intriguing quote. The meal sounds tasty. It seems like the wrong time of year for that drink. I hope the wine is not too expensive. Prayers for our world. I hope everyone has something to celebrate, no matter how small. Stay safe. 30
Rare rafinmd Posted October 29, 2023 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2023 Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, Dixie, and Graham. Don't really know much about Psoriasis. I know we have a lot of dailyites who will especially appreciate National Cat Day and in some ways I tend to be a bit of a hermit. Nice to see 2 BHB in Everglades yesterday. I have not been to Maloy and expect we may see more cat photos than Maloy photos today. Not quite sure I understand the Elliott quote. The meal sounds interesting. My alternative is Tropical Fruit Cup, Bleechers Macaroni and Cheese, and Blueberry-Mango Crisp as served on MS Rotterdam October 29, 2017: AV duty in church today. cat shepard Posted October 29, 2023 #8 Share Posted October 29, 2023 (edited) Thank you for today’s FR & D, Rich! Another cool, crisp, clear morning. Bindi wasn’t interested in a long walk this morning. Too dark, I think. Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with us. Praying you get some permanent relief from the pain. Gym, Aldi - I need to pick up more bags of the frozen Argentinian red shrimp, they were a huge hit last night. I am not sure if they were sweet, but they were so tender and delicious; then inside & outside chores. Florida potholes are very dangerous. Prayers for all who need our support. @smitty34877 Terry, praying for you, Tana, your families & support teams. Breathe. @HAL Sailer Melissa, praying for DH and you. Don’t forget you. May we each find a reason to smile today. ******** 2017 Robert Hall Paso Robles Paso Red This California red blend gets very good - excellent reviews from consumers & critics. I have enjoyed this one myself. Easy to find & reasonably priced. Online prices start at $13.94. Winemaker Notes Robert Hall Paso Red combines some of the winery's favorite vineyards in Paso Robles, and is crafted to be big, dark, and juicy with the approachability and quality that Robert Hall drinkers expect. Petite Syrah and Zinfandel are at the heart of this wine, highlighting two varieties that do well in Paso Robles. This blend has aromas of berry cobbler, savory herbs and tobacco, and is full-bodied with fine grained tannins on the mid-palate and a long spicy finish. Pairs well with smoked meats, burgers and Spanish style tapas. Blend: 39% Zinfandel, 33% Petite Syrah, 12% Petit Verdot, 9% Tempranillo, 7% Syrah WW89 Wilfred Wong of Wine.com The 2017 Robert Hall Paso Red drinks big, vibrant, and long. This wine comes through with jamming aromas of black fruit and licorice. Pair it with grilled beef. sailingdutchy Posted October 29, 2023 #10 Share Posted October 29, 2023 Wow , thank you Rich for putting me on the Front page , we are just relaxing on board the Oosterdam in Livorno and taking it easy after a wonderful day yesterday in Civitavecchia . We had a lovely tour in the morning with one other couple and our guide Rudolf and at 12:30 went to his nice medieval town of Vitrella where we met up with his wife Susanna who had another tour group , we have toured with Susanna previously for about five times and it was a nice surprise to meet up with her again . After a welcoming glass of sparkling wine our two hosts had arranged a private concert in an old Palacio with a wonderful soprano accompanied by maestro Luigi on piano , she moved us to tears with a few wonderful Puccini arias and some Neapolitan popular songs .A wonderful concert we will not easily forget and it was well received by a standing ovation . We than were seated in the next room on a large decorated table where we had a delicious four coarse lunch prepared by a couple of ladies from the village with our hosts and the opera company members. For the last few years we have always looked forward to land in Civitavecchia and visit our good friends and wonderful guides to go out into the country and experience life with the locals in some amazing places . Will show some pictures next time when Destination of the Day is Civitavecchia again . have a wonderful weekend everybody . Tony 😍 35

Written during WWII, these poems are about a nation (a culture) that is severely under threat. I believe the message is that understanding the unity of the past, present and future is what is necessary for salvation. My students found a quote from the song Closing Time by Semisonic that I think sums up the meaning of the Eliot quote in simpler terms, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” Thoughts to ponder in today’s world too. 24
Rare Crazy For Cats Posted October 29, 2023 #14 Share Posted October 29, 2023 Good Morning Everyone, thanks for today's daily fleet report. After yesterday's high of 83 today's temperatures will feel like winter is here, only in the 50's. Today's meal suggestion sounds good if someone else does the cooking. Today's agenda includes a trip to Target, cat litter is on sale. I hope everyone has a good day today. Cat day is every day. Some of the kids. Tucker, he's become a lap kitty as he got older. seagarsmoker Posted October 29, 2023 #17 Share Posted October 29, 2023 New chairs have arrived for the Eurodam. They didn't bother removing the wrapping and now peeps are grabbing chairs, taking off the wrapping and the wind blows it off the ship. Unfortunately, very disorganized.... Many upset people who are standing around since they have no place to sit. The layout chairs have not been put out yet, and at 7:30am, no empty seats in the smoking area. 18

Wouldn't want them to run out before you get there. 😄 Happy Cat Day! 16

Rare kazu Posted October 29, 2023 #21 Share Posted October 29, 2023 thanks for our Sunday Daily, Rich. and thanks to Ann, Debbie, Dixie & Vanessa. I feel like I am a hermit at times and celebrate hermit day all too often 😉 Isn’t every day National Cat Day? Prayers for those struggling with psoriasis. 🙏 I like the quote and thanks @0106 for the added explanation. 👍 Glad to see I had interpreted it correctly. It’s a cool, crisp day here. Temps are definitely heading down 😔 The frost has finally hit the hostas so it is time to remove the leaves of those affected and get them in the compost bin. What do you do when you’re faced with the oncoming winter? Why you book a cruise to look forward to. I received a nice casino offer on the last night of my cruise (we know that means I spent too much time there 😂) and thankfully, my TA was happy to help me with it (I upgraded). I’m hoping down the road my BFF who lamented she could no longer cruise will want to join me 🤞 I think it would be a nice treat for her. I have to pay double anyways so why not? it looks like an easy going, fun itinerary. And speaking of cruises, Bon Voyage @Haljo1935. Have a great cruise and a WONDERFUL time. 🙂 \\ Hoping that Baby Murphy continues to fight and improve and Vanessa’s pain can be resolved 🙏 Prayers for those on the Care list, those suffering losses, health issues, worries & those that need them. 🙏. Cheers to all those celebrating and cruising 🥂 Have a great Sunday everyone !!!!! 31
aliaschief Posted October 29, 2023 #22 Share Posted October 29, 2023 Good morning! We had a wonderful day at sea yesterday. Enjoyed the lectures from two professors. A nice touch is when you enter the Grand Salon they have an array of chilled wine, champagne, sodas, beer, water available. Just help yourself. Our Miami based travel agency is a Virtuoso rated company and we were invited to a a cocktail get together with fellow guest whose TA’s must also use Virtuoso rated companies. It was all new to us. After a lovely dinner we went to the Grand Salon for a performance by Cloe from South Africa. My goodness what a powerful and melodic singer she was. I closed my eyes and thought Whitney Houston or Bette Midler was performing. It’s 42 degrees in Halifax and later we will stroll down to the Wharehouse Restaurant for lunch. It will be a light lunch as tonight we are eating at The Grill which is Chef Thomas Keller’s restaurant onboard. No extra charge but reservations are required. Other then lunch we have nothing planned as we have been here often and have seen all the highlight’s. Time to find some coffee. Thanks for The Fleet Report and postings.
