Least Favorite Port

I was watching a youtube video on cruising the other day (OK several videos) and they were talking about their least favorite ports. I can't remember now but I think Alcopolco, Progresso and seems like maybe a Bahama port were some that were mentioned quite a bit.

It got me to thinking about my least favorites and wandered what yours are and why?

Mine is Messina. I suppose if you take a long excursion and go somewhere else it is OK, but Messina itself was kinda dirty and boring. Very boring.

I have to agree about Messina! I'm also not fussed on Vigo. I found it very lack-lustre after all the hype about the "amazing shopping", but I also found this to be the case with St Thomas. Everyone said that St Thomas was a shoppers paradise, but clearly only if you're in the market for diamonds and expensive jewellery - which I wasn't.

We’ve been to Nassau 4 times with our beach loving kids, 2 times to Atlantis, a beach pass at Melia, and one at RIU. I remember floating in the crystal clear water at cabbage beach, and telling my kids a lot of passengers stay on the ship at this stop, my kids thought they were crazy. If you want to walk off of the ship and shop (yawn), not the best stop. However, being from NE NJ, my kids have grown up saying “no thanks” - Wildwood/point pleasant/seaside boardwalk, Times Square, homeless in many cities. Not a big deal.

Yep, Nassau was the one they were talking about. What is it that you didn't like about Nassau? Do folks not like the Bahamas in general or just Nassau?

mjkac, sounds like y'all like a beach day. I'd not be that excited if that was all there is to do.

I actually like Nassau. Lots to do there. Take the ferry to Paradise island, hang out on the beach, snorkel or take a excursion to swim with sharks

My least favorite port Costa Maya. Nothing much to do unless you book a excursion IMO

Jamaica  Ocho Rios

police armed with machine guns walking the street .

lots of agressive people trying to sell drugs on the street and in the market

we have been to Rio , Bueno aries and Columbia  and Jamaica was by far the most frghtening.

this question has come up  before and it is always fun and interesting to see how people feel and why.

We have a few: anyplace in Jamaica; the people are so rude though there are a few neat tours

Samana: just feel unsafe there. Daughter bought a bottle of water at an outside market that wasn't even sealed. Needless to say she tossed it.

San Tomas: went there about 18 months ago: nada, trolley trip a waste and the poverty was in your face. If they ever develop the port it night be nice.

Sidney: in Canada; had a great private tour but was just not impressed with the port.

You can tell how subjective this is: CasinoCompChick says Dominica. It is one of our very favorite ports.

There are many private excursions for snorkeling, parasailing, food tours, private islands, all it takes is a little bit of research.

I would have to say anywhere you have to tender. The last time we tendered the ferry was bobbing up

and down so much when we were waiting to disembark that I almost fell over. And of course the

waiting to get on and off really uses up port time.
