I live in N Myrtle Beach, SC, Surprise, Surprise, when I woke up this morning everything was coated in ice, several power outages, it was a winter wounder land.  The good news was by this afternoon all the ice had melted.

That was our plan too (well maybe not six months), but Covid threw a spanner in all our plans 😡

Great pictures and sounds like a fantastic place to visit. My son and partner spent a few days there when they had their gap year around Asia and Australia in 2012

Hope you make it to Adelaide next year, Graham.  It’s a nice place to visit. if you have time, visiting Kangaroo Island is worth considering.  If you like trains and make more than one visit to Adelaide, the Adelaide to Darwin trip on The Ghan is a pretty iconic train trip.

When my German Aunt & Uncle visited the US the first time - this was back in the early part of the 70's - we took a family trip from our corner of New York, the suburbs right outside NYC, to Niagara Falls. Took close to 8 hours. They were amazed to be still in the same country, never mind the same state, after that long of a drive. They laughed when we told them the states get larger the further west you go.

 

 

Now these are a couple of fun facts that I can't wait to work into a conversation sometime down the road.

She is also a huge fan of Ozark and we were supposed to start watching that together tonight. But she decided to spend Saturday night with people her own age.  The nerve!!! 😇🤣

We got married not far from Buffalo and Niagara Falls at a bed and breakfast that did lots of weddings , a few years later we visited the bed and breakfast again since my wife’s best friend was getting married in same area. That night there was only one other guest and he was from Texas also, we were all sitting in a small bar area with the owners of the inn. Turns out he was a deputy sheriff was a tiny town. He had arrested someone from Buffalo area and ran his plates , turns out car belong to mother of the arrested man and after a while he confessed that he killed his mother with a hammer and hid her body in her house , he was up there to be a witness in the grand jury trail.

A Panama Canal trip was next on our list.  We didn't have anything booked because we had the move going on.  My plan was that as soon as we got completely moved I would book that cruise.  Now I don't think we will ever do that trip.  I really wanted to see the canal in action.  That will be wonderful cruise for you and especially fun with a relative to catch up with.

I don't have Apple TV (yet) but it seems like the good, old fashion days of network TV - having to wait a week to watch an episode. Who's got that kind of patience? LOL

 

We hate watching “weekly” shows and have gotten to the point where we now wait until all the episodes have been shown so we can binge watch.  But we also find that we often have to go back and watch the last episode or two if the previous season to remember what’s going on.

Noone was winning on our sailing.  I was up $645 early on but ended up giving it all back by end of the cruise.  Those machines should be ready for some big payouts.  Good luck🤩

Dumb question coming up.  What do you mean by the "canal in action".  I know I don't watch the news much but what did I miss?

Ill do that with some of the weekly show, save them to binge, or if I watch weekly, I’ll rewatch the previous episode right before the newest one, especially if it’s a very detail oriented show.  “For All Mankind” and “Defending Jacob” on Apple+ was one that I did that for.  A lot of times I’ll binge watch the whole previous season the week before the new one drops, like “Ozark” or “The Man in the High Castle”. Sometimes I think I have way too much time on my hands since my mom has been needing almost full time care the last couple of years.

While on our cruise we were in the casino till 1 or 2 am a couple of nights.  We witnessed them cleaning all chips.  They would set up big buckets full of soap on the floor and sanitize piles of poker chips then spread out on tarps and towels to dry and sort for use the next day.  

Quite a project and having to do this every night had to be annoying for the workers.

Saw similiar method in smaller scale being done for craps dice too.

Congratulations to the Cincinnati Bengals on beating the Titans yesterday. Now if the Bills can manage to beat KC tonight, my plan (like I have anything to do with it 🤣) to have the Bills host the AFC Championship game will come true.  Trying not to get myself too excited for the game tonight.  Deep breaths.  We're going to a friend's house tonight for a watch party with a bunch of other local Bills Mafia.

They had a little over a week, so expected to take a motor coach to visit Orlando and Daytona Beach Florida, Washington DC, New York City and Niagara Falls, Boston, Chicago, San Antonio Tx, Los Angeles and San Francisco.  He wrote all of that to me, and asked me to add whatever else was worth seeing. 
 

This puts the size of Australia into perspective.

It’s not as bad as yesterday but it’s sore. I’m going to take it easy today.

 

This morning the Captain announced we stopped at Coco Cay for a crew swap. Didn’t mention covid but we all know what it was for. 😁
