The only place for sure we plan check out is the restaurant that was mentioned here awhile back.  It sounds like good food with a great view.  How far is Eagle Beach from the port.  I always believe if a person will go back to a beach, it has to be good enough to try.

Eagle Beach is only maybe ten minutes tops from the cruise port.  There's a good parking lot area there.

Here are a couple pics from my spot on the beach last month, view right, middle, and left:

Since we walk a lot, the last two times we were there, we walked to Eagle Beach.  It is about 3 miles, or a 50 minute walk.   It is a very nice beach to enjoy a beach day, but things are a little more expensive there.  Think of many Caribbean ports where you can get a couple loungers and umbrella for $20-$25, and they throw in a drink or two.   At Eagle, tow loungers and umbrella run $40 at one stand and $50 at the one next to it.

The beach bar gets crowded, and food can take a while.

I see @brillohead posted a couple pictures, which is a good depiction of the beach.   We were there in October last year, and the weather was beautiful.

I had a great day yesterday.  It was my birthday.  I played golf with my regular Tuesday/Thursday guys group.  I didn't play particularly well but still managed to shoot a decent score thanks to doing a lot of scrambling around the greens and a couple of birdies.  I came home and watched the US Open on TV for a couple of hours.  We then went to our club for wine tasting from 5-6 and followed that with dinner at the fancier restaurant in our ocean clubhouse.  The view is great.

I don't normally do food porn as I usually eat before remembering to take a picture, but I remembered this time.  Our club does a good job with celebrations.  They started us with a couple of glasses of champagne and then a small bite from the chef.  It was some sort of tuna concoction on a small piece of brioche bread and topped with a bit of caviar.  Very tasty.  There may also be an Old Fashioned in the picture. 😉

We both ordered the grilled romaine salad to start.  I had the seared halibut for my main.  The fish was cooked perfectly, and the mushroom risotto was excellent.  Micheline had a salmon dish that was also great, although I did miss getting a picture of that one.

We were pretty stuffed at that point, but they brought out a happy birthday piece of key lime pie...one of my favorites.  After the dessert, they wouldn't let us go without a couple of small macarons and chocolate ball things. (and finally monsieur, a wafer thin mint).

We made it back to the house and worked off all of that food by sitting and watching a couple of episodes of Stranger Things season 4.  We're enjoying season 4.

Because my birthday and Father's Day are so close, sometimes even the same day, Micheline usually turns it into a birthday/Father's Day weekend.  The US Open golf tournament is always on Father's Day weekend so a good part of my time through Sunday will be watching golf.  It's my favorite tournament to watch, followed by the Masters and The Open (aka The British Open).  We were thinking of doing something outside on Saturday but the high temp is supposed to be 96F.  We might just stay in the house with the A/C on full blast.

Looks like a fabulous birthday!  My DH has a similar issue with his BD, June 12, and Father's Day and I have the same with my BD, May 14, and Mother's Day! 🤣

It's going to be a hot one here too!    Temps to be in the 90s and not much of any breeze (hoping there will be some relief on the beach).   We are doing some work online and plan on heading to beach around 11 or 12.      Tomorrow should be low 70's.

Good morning,all!

Dani - Hoping you are enjoying your cruise and that you have met Capt.Kate. I am looking forward to your posts recounting your holiday.

Bonnie-Good that you are making progress with healing. Hoping you are soon home to continue recuperation.💐

Lenny- I watched a PBS program,American Masters, about Brian Wilson a few days ago. I found it interesting as I liked the Beach Boys in high school and had a boyfriend that surfed off of Lido Beach who liked their music as well. I didn’t realize the extent of his  musical talent. He has lived a difficult life, but he continues to compose music and perform live in concerts.

I thought of you while watching the program as you have posted about your interest in music.

It is a a cloudy day here on Eastern Long Island. That’s okay though as we are waiting for a repairman to check our one year old refrigerator. We recently got a notice on the water/ice dispenser pad on the front of the refrigerator to replace the water filter. According to the manual, the recommended replacement period is six months. It has been two months since we replaced the filter. I called Fridgedare and the rep thought it was a computer problem and arranged a service call. Hoping it is an easy fix.🤞

Wishing all the Dads and Grandads here a Happy Fathers’Day !

MJ🙋🏻

But where does the ferry leave from that goes to Vieques Island and how do you get there from San Juan?

It leaves from Cieba ( approx 45 mts to 1 hr ride by car), near Fajardo area. We were staying in Fajardo area so it was much closer.  And the hotel shuttle dropped us to where ever we wanted to go in that area.
To get to the ferry at Cieba from the cruise ship dock is a long journey.

I am not aware of any recent ferries/transportation modes from the SJ area. It has been a while!

There are also tour companies that do the trips to Vieques and Culebra. Enbassy Suites in Carolina had almost set us up with one since I always wanted to go to Culebra, but we ended up staying in the Fajardo area.

Thank you all again.  Lenny...you're just slightly off.  I'm 61, although (most days) I feel like I'm 47.  Every now and then, after playing golf or doing too much physical work in the yard/house, my true age shines through.

We've talked about Mark Rober here before.  He's the YouTube guy who made the squirrel obstacle course and the porch pirate glitter bomb videos (among many other cool videos).  He's an engineer who has worked at NASA.  He recently announced something called Crunch Labs.  If you subscribe (about $25 per month) you will receive a toy that you build yourself.  It includes a video from Mark talking about how to build the toy and what engineering goes into it.  This would be a great gift for a child/grandchild/child at heart who is into this kind of thing.  The target age is 8-12+.  I would have loved it as a kid.  More info: CrunchLabs

Crunch Labs is also a real place where Mark makes all of his YouTube stuff.  His latest video takes you on a tour through the lab.  Ladies may appreciate the bathroom in the lab that automatically locks the door and won't let you out unless the toilet seat is lowered. 😁

@bobmacliberty Happy Belated birthday.  Looks like you celebrated in style!

Weather here continues to be high 90s turning to hundreds (105, 106) on Sunday. the traditional Father's Day bbq. day.

Hope Dani met up with Sue and met Captain Kate by now and that all are having a spectacular cruise.

Pain is getting more and more manageable.  Part of my PT today was getting in and out  of the car, no easy feat using only 1 leg but I did it!
