Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

+ 2   Where are the days when if one airline had to cancel a flight, mainly due to mechanical problems, immediately it was their duty to book you in the earliest flight possible, and then do the accounting with them.

In other words, SW should deal with Delta, without even involving you. That's customer service.

One of the best things I've learned in CC is to take extra meds when traveling.... at least 2 weeks worth.

Being accommodated on another airline requires interline agreements.
SW chose to be an independent airline, charging lower fares and fewer fees.
They also flew in and out of smaller airports, like Love Field instead of Dallas-Ft Worth, and Hobby instead of Houston.
They saved a lot of money and passed a lot of the savings on to the consumer.
Times have changed, and that model doesn’t work any more.

Hello from the Edge!

Parking to setting foot on the ship was super fast. Our check in time was 1 pm. We were there at 1.15. No lines for our checkin time. Small line of perhaps 8 people in the 1.30 to 2 pm slot.

We love our cabin. It is longer, some 6 feet extra betweeb balcony and sofa. There are 2 lounge chairs , 2 chairs and one small coffee table on the balcony. It is a Sunset Veranda. What I am  verrrry slightly not thrilled about is that it is raindundant....not too useful in the rain. About 5 feet of covered area above  for shade. No complaints....I intend to use it to the fullest starting with waving out.

I see the Odyssey parked at 18. The Celebrity Reflection and Constellation are across from us and there is a Princess ship. There was a HAL ship in the morning. I believe these ships are just doing their routine and do not have passengers, except for the Odyssey. Hope we do horn wars at sail away.

I have not inquired about how many are on board and all the stats yet. Wifi sucks.  Elevators were not packed like normal embarkation day.

Will post when I am able to.

Everyone have a great day and very soon we will all be giving thanks for all those prayers that WILL be answered for our CC family.

Sending hugs 💕

Let the fun begin🧜‍♀️.

Have a wonderful cruise.

We arrived at Odyssey around 1:00 for a 1;00 schedule.  Our driver had picked us up at 11:45, so the traffic on I95 was pretty typical,  it usually takes about 1 hour from our house to the port.

The whole check in was super easy , and went straight on the ship.nn'

Haven't heard any heard any passenger count that I might believe, since I heard one at about 700 and one at about 1600. I figured I could go find Chris Wong tomorrow , he should know.

Have a great cruise. It’s so nice for ships to be sailing.

I read this on review thread and really stinks.   Come up with any solution?

I wonder why sw had 860 flights cancelled.

Yikes, was that just today?

Yes to cruise ships. Now if only the airlines (SWA) were flying the way the should be.

Just out of curiosity, does Mike have any insight into what the SWA problems were this weekend?

I swear it wasn't me taking his B787 for a ride today that caused the problems.

My wife just reminded me to be sure to pack extra days of meds.  I usually take at least an extra weeks worth.

Excellent advice.

I always take double my heart medication with me on holiday in case of any delays.

Had a surprise yesterday , when I checked my on board account, I found I had about $1700 OBC, both from my reduction in cruise fare , and some OBC from a canceled cruise.

We will be arriving soon at Nassau, I can hear the pilot boat as it approaches the ship.

WE did have a pretty big storm (low front) come through south FL, my home weather station recording over 2 inches,  with a brief spurt of 6 inches an hour.

Hopefully, at least some of this you would be able to "cash out" 😉

It is good that you are able to do this with excess OBC.

On P&O it states in the cabin book that OBC can not be used in the casino so RC are excellent in allowing this.

Graham.

WOW - that's a wonderful surprise.     Go to the casino and cash out some at the slot machine then go to the spa for a nice relaxing treatment, then go to speciality restaurant and order a nice bottle of wine (at least that is what I would do)🤩

Rainy gloomy day here at LBI.   We both slept in - haven't done that in a long time.

Heading out to Mustache Bills diner for one last breakfast before they close up for the season.

Today is the 49th annual 18K mile race from Holgate to Barneget Lighthouse (the length of the island) and today is suppose to be the last of the international kite festival.    It's not a steady rain right now but definitely not a good day to fly a kite.

Can you use OBC to book another cruise?

It appears from prior post each ship is different on cashing out OBC.  This was the first time I tried it and all went fine. I first thought i would be limited to $500.  If you try this on a slot machine you will transfer money from your account to the casino.  It will say the max is $500 but that is a max of how much you can transfer at one time.  Looks like you will have to sign in and out 4 times😊

Hello from Nassau!

The Odyssey and the Edge are neighbors for today. Edge leaves at 1 pm. Only cruise line excursions allowed.  We are staying on board and enjoying the day.

Mo and Fran, we are at the aft, enjoying a late breakfast. Wave to us....we are looking at the yellow thingy on the Odyssey. I am in red shorts wellll coral to be exact. I am watching to see if I can see someone waving.

Dani, your story of innocently repeating something your parents had said reminded me of a story Art Linkletter told in his book Kids Say The Darnedest  Things…(or words to that effect.)  A young child was taken to a hospital to visit a sick older relative.  The child was told if the sick person said they felt ill to say “I hope they pull you through.”  The sick relative said “I feel like I’m at death’s door.”  And the child replied “I hope they pull you through.”

How fun!  Did you see Mo and Fran waving??  Enjoy your cruise.  I watched your Sail Away, as well as mo&fran's.  There were so many ships sailing last evening!!

No. No one waving from the big O parked next to us. I will look again.

I don't think so.    I believe I read on another thread that someone asked this at the next cruise desk and was told no.

Thanks.  $1700 is a lot of OBC!  I would cash out at the casino after making a trip to the jewelry and handbag shops IF they accept OBC. 😁

We were on a weird Liberty cruise out of Galveston a few years ago.  A few weeks before cruise date we got a letter that there would only be one port stop, Nassau to repair something,  They offered either a full refund or 50% off with some OBC.  We were cruising with friends and we jumped on a great deal.  We didn't much care about the one port since we so love being on the ship.  At the end of the cruise whatever OBC we had left on our account was credited back to our credit card.

We had a lovely few days in Nassau, meandering around The Atlantis, gawking at the impressive yachts, the straw market, shops, and just hanging out with friends.  It was a treat not having to rush back to the ship. I think we were there 3 days.
