I'm starting to think that the ignorance is bliss approach has a lot of merit.

I believe you posted once that you are an Engineer ,correct ? If so,have you ever heard of Lawrence Rabiner ? If not ,Google and read about him.He and I have known each other nearly 75 years.

I've heard of him and am familiar with his book "Theory and Application of Digital Signal Processing".  Very accomplished guy.

There's probably an announcement happening on the ship right now, telling you to go to your muster station or the ship will not be able to leave. 🤪

I was the only one of my friends who had a Bar Mitzvah party in a catering hall.It was not the norm way back then.I still have my copies of the bills from my daughters Bas Mitzvahs, one in 1986 and the other in 1990.My thinking is that the cost of all three parties is not even close to the cost in 2022.

I don't understand all this soccer( not real football) stuff........It's on CBS now saying it's like the Super Bowl of Soccer and that twice as many people will watch this game, but I still see other soccer games going on?

So how can this be like the Super Bowl? So are other teams still playing? Such a crazy sport to see all these guys running around chasing a soccer ball and the score is going to be like 1-0.........No excitement until one guy scores the lone goal after watching for 2 hours and then he slides on the turf on his knees..🤣

Our European friends here can correct me if I'm wrong, but you're referring to the current Champions League final.  There are various football (soccer) leagues in Europe typically organized by country (Premier League in England, Bundesliga in Germany, LaLiga in Spain, etc.).  The champions (and some runners up) of these individual leagues are invited to participate in the Champions League tournament each year to crown a European champion.  While there are other soccer leagues around the world, like Major League Soccer (MLS) in the US and several very good leagues in South America, Europe probably has the best overall talent amongst their leagues.  The Champions League winner is therefore equivalent to the Super Bowl winner from the NFL...the best in the world.  Just like in soccer, there are other professional american style football leagues (e.g. the CFL) but they are not included in the playoffs for the Super Bowl.

Americans sometimes don't appreciate soccer as much as American football because the games are low scoring.  You need to look past the score and appreciate the skill of what's happening on the field.  Soccer is the most played and watched sport in the world.  You may not appreciate it, but you're in the minority.  Even in the US, soccer is gaining quickly in popularity.  Before I moved from Cincinnati, it was a big deal that FC Cincinnati was able to play in the MLS.  That was a step up from their previous league.  FC Cincinnati is very popular now in Cincinnati.  Going to a match is a great experience.

I also really like the idea of promotion and relegation in many of the soccer leagues.  If you do poorly in the top league of your country, you may get demoted (relegated) to a lower league, and the winner of the lower league may get promoted to take your place in the top league.  It gives the lower leagues something to play for (promotion) and makes matches between last place teams in the upper league more exciting (trying to avoid relegation).

Yes, it is scrapple, just don't read the package label, it's delicious. 😋Made it nice and crispy too! for dipping into the egg yolk.

Have been eating scrapple since I was a young boy.............Love it. Most people here in Virginia never even heard of it, so it's hard to find down here. When we lived in NJ, everyone knew what it was and was plentiful. Diner's up there even had it on their menu's.

I’m very familiar with Scrapple - “everything but the oink”.  My oldest SIL, who grew up in the Philly suburbs, has been trying to get me to try it for years.  Not happening, but you go ahead and enjoy.  Liver is also not happening for me.

I loved scrapple when I lived in Northeastern PA.  I don't know if it's even available around here.

They need a shot clock. 🙂 You can watch a game for over an hour and not even have a shot on goal................and when somebody does shoot...........the crowd goes bonkers..........and that is even when the ball doesn't go in the net for a score.

I had it on, I couldn't even get through the pre-game show. 🙃

I jest about blowing out the wedding budget.  The reality is our two married daughters were very respectful of the amount of money we “discussed” early in their wedding planning. They made a list of things that were high priority to them - a unique venue, a live band and open bar topped the lists for both of them.  I insisted that the brides wedding outfit be outside the budget.
Our oldest wanted a tented reception & originally wanted it to be on the water in Newport RI.  There were none that met the tent requirement in Newport (thankfully LOL).  They ended up at Blithewold Mansion & Gardens in the lovely little seaside town of Bristol RI.  They had a permanently erected tent & cocktail hour was held on the patio of the mansion and the lawn overlooking the bay.

Our middle DD also wanted something near or on the water.  They chose the New Bedford Whaling Museum.  Cocktail hour was in the ship room and the top floor of the museum is the dining/reception area.

In the end, both went over the amounts we originally discussed, but they chose wisely and had the weddings of their dreams.

There are millions of us who enjoy soccer.  I’m a Liverpool fan and can’t wait for the game to finally start.  Seems the French security has really been inept.

We paid equal shares towards my sons wedding.  It was delayed by a year due covid, this gave Alex just more time to think up stuff 😁

My son put his food down at ice sculptures. We had a violinist at the wedding and pre dinner, a harpist before the speeches, live band and DJ between the band sessions .

And fireworks enough to keep the whole county awake. And a mini casino!!!

But it was fun  fun and more fun and I loved every minute of it ......and now there's a baba on the way 💕

Both look like they were absolutely beautiful weddings.  Being in Cincinnati, unfortunately there's not much "on the water".  My daughter is like your eldest in that she wants an outdoor ceremony and tented reception.  She ended up choosing the Pinecroft at Crosley Estate.  We'll have the gorgeous estate and gardens all to ourselves on the wedding day.  The entire upper floor of the mansion is for the bride and her bridesmaids/mothers, while the basement is for the groom/groomsmen/fathers.  Assuming that the weather cooperates, the cermony will be outdoors in the garden, cocktails will be in the mansion itself, and the reception will be in the permanent tent/pavilion that holds up to 325 people seated.  I'm hoping we end up more in the 200 range, as the current guest list is a little above that already.

I assume you are referring to the Stratford Festival in the UK.I have gone to the Stratford Festival in Stratford ,CT numerous times. When I was in college I wrote two plays and acted in both.I never pursued either after college but two of my college friends went into stage acting. One just recently retired and the other one became a Director of stage performances in New York and New Jersey. My wife’s sister has a close friend who has been acting in theater and TV for 60+ years.

Nope Canada, hubby has duel British/Canadian nationality and has lots of Canadian friends. So Stratford in Ontatio has a very famous theatre festival each year

I was just thinking about what I was going to eat for lunch and look what Sharon just surprised me with!  Our local Kroger store traditionally pulls out their pit smoker each major holiday and smokes ribs.
