Thank you for the Tuesday Daily, Rich.  A great selection of days.  Interesting quote by Martin.  I've been to Montevideo several times both on Crystal and BHB.  I think I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Chilled Sour Cherry Soup, Prime Rib of Beef Au Jus, and Strawberry Sundae as served on MS Prinsendam June 15, 2015.  I expect to soon be on hold for some time with the IRS on a matter connected to my church.

Welfare of furloughed crews

StLouisSal’s weakness and fall injuries

bennybear’s SIL diagnosed with aggressive cancer awaiting surgery

mamaofami DH Sam in rehab until about 6/27

Kazu’s foot

Garlictown difficutl recovery from arm surgery

Tana awaiting biopsy results

Cruising-along’s cousin rejecting a kidney

Celebrations and Shoutouts:

Good morning, everyone.

I am all for nature photography.   I wish I was better at capturing nature's beauty.   I'll pass on the prunes and put my energy into smiles.  What a difference a smile can make in someone's day.

Kudos to all the caretakers on this board.  Now we know one of the reasons this board is so friendly and caring.   I helped take care of my mom and dad in their last years.  While living in Ohio, I traveled up to Michigan and spent one week out of every month up there with them.  I gained more than they did by doing that and I cherish the time I had with them.

My flight mess is all straightened out.   I don't know what happened, but all's well that ends well.

Today's meal is a side dish and I might have some to go along with Roy's alternative meal.

Thanks for the daily report Rich and good morning everyone.  I enjoy nature photography, and prunes!  Say cheese and smile everyone.  The salad sounds like a very nice side dish.  Steve Martin is a hoot.  Another port that I haven’t been to, looking forward to the photos of it to brighten another cool gray rainy day here.

Thanks for the Daily, Rich and our Tuesday smile 🙂

I’ll pass on Prune Day but will happily celebrate National Photography Day & Smile Day:

Not sure what to make of that Martin quote nor the meal suggestion.  I think we’ll have yesterday’s meal suggestion instead 😉

Pouring here.  Looks like we are going to see a ton of rain.  Tropical Bill and some other system is sending it our way.

Good thing I got a couple of shots before the rain destroyed the flowers.

I have several of varieties of  troillus and for some reason, this one plant comes up earlier than the others but unlike the others, it flowers do not last as long and drop off very easily.

Pretty sure today’s rain may finish it off 😔

Well, I picked on dogs yesterday so I’ll pick on cats today 😉

@rafinmdI don’t need to be on the care list, thanks.  My foot is still sore but it is improving.  (Hope I didn’t just jinx myself 😉 )

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a 🥂 to those on the Celebratory/ Shout Out list.

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!!!

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily report.  I enjoy pictures of nature.  I’m on the fence on upgrading my cellphone to get a better camera for our Alaska trip.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds good as a side dish.  Another rainy day here.  I hope everyone has a nice day.

Good Morning. Love nature photography - getting it just right is a real talent. Don't know how many will celebrate prune day. Steve Martin's quote brings a smile.

I love slaw as a side dish and Roy's meal suggestions sounds really good. Jacqui's flowers are so bright and cheerful - a great way to greet the new day.

Good morning everyone. Thanks  to  Rich,Roy  and  the  Food  and  Beverage  departments  for  the  Daily.

We  heard  late  yesterday about our  Tana's  results. She  had  Covid in April 2020 and  had  a  thankfully  short  hospitalization-at  her  own  hospital  where  she  is  a  nurse. She  has  some  auto  immune  issues  and  this  was  felt  to  be  the  driver  of  her  sporadic  fevers, fatigue  and  respiratory  issues. Her  lungs  show  scarring  secondary  to  this  on/off  process  of  inflammation. She  needs  to  consult  further  with  a  specialist but  the  preliminary  diagnosis  of  Pulmonary Fibrosis is  being  made. We  are  grateful  that  there  were  no  malignancies   noted. I  am  trying  so  hard  to  remain  calm. It  can  be  a  very  difficult thing  to  deal  with  as  there  is no  real  treatment.

We  tried  our  best  to  explain  all  of  this  to Tana's DS  without  creating  alarm  and  I  think  we answered all  of  his  questions. He  is  a  typical   almost  teenager though  and  a  man  of  few  words.

Today  DD  will  bring  Tana  home. I  cooked  like  a  crazy  woman  yesterday  so  they (and  we) have  enough  food  for  several  days. Cooking  is  a  blessing  at  times  like  this,at  least  for  me.

Anyway, thank  you  all  for  your  tremendous  support  and  caring. I  don't  even  have  the  words  to describe how  much  it  helps.

Terry

Happy Tuesday!  We have turned all our fans eastward to blow away T2.

I need to update as I just saw T2 is now Bill.  Good news is it’s well offshore.  I have a feeling this could be a busy year.

Thank you for today’s Daily, Rich! I am picturing a grin on your face as you selected today’s combo of days! Not a fan of prunes. Willing to trade for peanut butter cookies.
I thought of @bennybearwhen I read nature photography day. Some of Brenda’s pictures could win awards!

Though I did not take this picture, it is my favorite nature photo so far this year.

Roy thank you for keeping our lists. I love how you honored Roger by sharing a photo of the two of you! Morning Dailyite family! @StLouisCruisers, Sandi when do you head West?

@smitty34877keeping you all in my prayers.

Another lovely morning here. We had more Tstorms here yesterday and four hours of rain!  We might have just caught up for the year in the past two days. And the storm clouds are already forming to the West. And we have our second named storm of the year!

Lol on Steve’s quote! I thought Americano was a coffee. Though today’s recipe is colorful, not sure if I would appreciate it. I would like a taste before I bothered to make it.

Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone!

Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley

This Cab has excellent ratings for all released vintages. And a very reasonable price. I used the 2018 vintage for reviews and prices, since that might be the easiest to find. I found several online distributors with prices starting at $19.99. And the winemakers and experts all mention “chocolate” in their descriptions. 😎

Winemaker Notes

This Cabernet is set each vintage as a Bordeaux blend, with soft and silky tannins and a plush, full mouth-feel setting it up for immediate enjoyment, although it's built to age and develop further complexity. Aromas of dried herbs, cedar, clove and lavender join flavors of dark red fruit led by figs, black cherry, currants, boysenberry, huckleberry, raspberry, and evident oak spice are joined with more traditional Knights Valley tones of black olive, wild sage and mocha chocolate. Fine acidity and balance with an elegant structure lead to a lingering, memorable finish.

JS93 James Suckling: Aromas of fresh blackcurrants, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and tobacco. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, sleek tannins. Fresh and tight with a cool, stony finish. Try from 2022.

JD90 Jeb Dunnuck: Lots of creme de cassis and plum-styled fruits emerge from the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley, and it has medium-bodied richness, a charming, elegant texture, classic Cabernet chocolate, leafy herbs, and earthy notes, and a great finish. It’s another rock-solid, enjoyable, nicely textured Cabernet that’s well worth drinking over the coming 8-10 years.

Good morning everyone. Sam continues to increase his strength and his walking distance.

I had a little spill Sunday night.Alexa wouldn’t turn off the den lights, so I sat down in Sam’s chair to turn the switch. The whole house became dark. I reached out to a rolling desk he has near the chair and of course it rolled and I slid off the chair. Unable to get up, I dragged myself to the laundry room, opened that door, and then opened the garage door and pulled myself up with the grab bars we installed on either side of the two steps. I’m sore of course, but that’s all.

Yesterday I called  Samsung to update my emergency contacts in my smart watch. We programmed in 911 and they asked me to oust the button three times to see if it worked. The call went to Rutgers, bounced off a cell tower and back to the police at my town. I then asked for the local ambulance number and while getting that, guess who arrived at my door? The police.

Being extra extra cautious now.

Sounds like Sam is doing well - that's good news. That must have been a scary experience Sunday noght. You might consider installing more grab bars in strategic locations. Glad you are OK.

I’m afraid it will be for us, here.  At least according to the weather forecasters. 😢

Good morning, thanks for the Daily!  I love seeing photos of nature - I'm not good at taking them, but certainly appreciate the talent others have.  Prunes are good - in moderation . . .      Steve Martin never fails to bring a smile to my face; if you start your day with a smile, it seems to last all day long.

Today is our DS's 39th birthday; hopefully by the middle of summer we might be able to get together to celebrate all the missed birthdays.  I've always said I can't believe I'm old enough to have a kid that age - but apparently, I am!

Another hot day on the "frozen tundra", our third in a row with heat warnings, so we'll be keeping to the air conditioned house after taking care of watering all the plants around the yard.  It seems DH wants to go through our library to cull some books, which is a good thing to do on a hot day, as it's in the basement where it's nice and cool.

@mamaofami that must have been frightening; so glad you had the strength to get to where you could pull yourself up again!

@cat shepard you had me at chocolate!!

@KirkNC isn't it a little early for tropical storms?  Not living anywhere near the coast, I'm not sure when they usually begin.  I always thought the season was from November to April - or is that for hurricanes?

I like today's menu suggestions - Roy's for the main, with Rich's as a side to it, but because it's hot as heck, I think we'll go for something cooler.  I have some cold sliced ham and will boil a few eggs to make us a modified chef's salads for dinner tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  Clinking the glasses together to toast all on the happy list.  Stay safe, be well, wash your hands and wear your masks!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂
