anthem, who got kicked off

Recommended Posts

Just got off Allure yesterday and was talking to someone in the Diamond Lounge who said they noticed a different liquor brand being poured into a Top Shelf bottle on the Rising Tide Bar! They asked if I had noticed that elsewhere on the ship? I said No... I usually get wine (most of which are either not in stock or is only available in certain locations on the ship). Hard to get the $13 glass of wine, so you have to pony up a few more dollars or drop down a few to find a tasty glass!

LOL -- what do you suggest I bring onboard to do my misdeed?  Bleach, spray paint, ax, horse manure? Maybe I should wait until I'm Pinnacle to get my 3 get out of jail vouchers before I do the nasty act.

I am happy to wait. My upcoming cruise will make me a Diamond member... I need that prestigue. :classic_ninja:

On a negative note, my group purchased the booze package & for the 1st 3 days every drink we requested they no longer had stock. It became laughable because you were lucky if they could fulfill the 4th drink choice you picked at the bar. We were told they would be restocking in Port Canaveral. Seemed to us they only restocked some things because we ran into the same problem all cruise. If we were lucky, 1 of the bars on the ship sometimes had what we wanted but we then waited an incredibly long time for our drink to finally arrive. We ran into the same problem with food items for the entirety of cruise. Waffles & pancakes served every day. Crew suggested using butter & honey for 1st 3 days until they restocked maple syrup on day 4. Day 6 they was no ketchup available. Coco Cay was wonderful but had the same issues. Limited liquor. Talking with others onboard there seemed to be the constant theme that tons of items were limited or unavailable. People who complained were told it was a “distribution problem.” HA! IMO, it was a cutting cost problem & not stocking enough for a cruise because of the variability of ship occupancy from cruise to cruise.

Where have you been living for the last two years?  We have empty shelves in every store that are not caused by "cost cutting".  What is available one day is not available the next day.  Businesses have for the last couple of decades been operating on the "just in time inventory" principal.  This states that inventory on the shelf is money that is not earning, so you keep just enough around to meet immediate demand.  While the supply chain was working smoothly, this principal worked.  Now that there are too few truckers, too many empty containers in the US that can't get back to China to be refilled, and too few workers for warehouses, this entire house of cards collapses.  It is going to take years before life returns to "normal", and businesses like cruise lines are going to suffer shortages for this entire time.

On Odyssey, they were out of strawberry daiquiri mix, which was random.  That's the only real shortage we noticed.

On Symphony last week...

We were told they had no banana liqueur...so they couldn't make the very popular drink...BBC, Banana Bailey's Colada. Alison, the bartender at the Trellis Bar saw us walking by and made us BBC's using real bananas...nice.

Symphony at Izumi for lunch today...

Ordered 2 signature drinks...Spicy Okinawa and She is Geisha........we were told they couldn't make it. They ran out of Sake...and today is only Day 2.

I am a supplier to the restaurant industry and there has been a huge and horrible shortage and distribution problem so what you were told is most likely accurate. It’s bad enough that many of them struggled and were able to survive the pandemic then turn around and have this smack them in the face.  And part of the problem is not shortage of product, it is shortage of labor in the supply chain that gets it from the manufacturer to the distributor to the business be it a restaurant or a ship.

Very well said, thank you!!

We had a shortage of toilet paper at the start of the pandemic. A supposed shortage of toilet paper went viral somehow (I believe the Great TP Panic started in Australia). It was over when another video https://www.dumpert.nl/item/7861397_1c873f94 also went viral showing a laughing truck driver driving around massive piles of toilet paper. Our prime minister said we could poop for 10 more years, and that was the end of shortages in The Netherlands.

I know there are massive problems in transportation, but I can buy anything I want. It's strange to hear about empty shelves in the US.

If you are trying to say that too much alcohol isn't a factor in these sorts of incidents, as well as when someone goes overboard, that's ridiculous.

I was on the cruise, the liquor wasnt the issue, her mental state was. Been on 20 cruises never saw such a wackjob. There were quite a few characters on this one.

Also, wondering if mother had to make arrangements for her daughter to get her daughter home from Nassau.  Double whammy.

Baby girl isn't a minor -- she can figure out her own way home, IMO!!!

The man (mid 40s) destroyed his room. He was escorted off the ship in Port Canaveral. His partner had to purchase a plane tix home & a car service to get him home, pay for the destroyed room (shocking how much that cost!) & pay medical before they allowed him off the ship. He’s been banned from RCCL.

The young women (mid 20s) was continuously loudly berating her mom (who was lovely & embarrassed) & staff, charged her mom’s account a crazy, crazy amount of money, left her mom’s room & moved into the man’s room who had just paid for his boyfriend to get off the ship with no legal charges filed & then accused him of stealing from her. Security came once again & she was escorted off the ship in the Bahamas. Also banned for life. All involved met in the casino bar the 1st night so I guess they were sorta cruise friends. It was one bad decision after another. Both mom & boyfriend stayed on cruise to continue their vacation.

The captain graciously didn’t discuss it. But the boyfriend pretty much told anyone who would listen what happened. All parties were in the casino nightly, as was I, so I witnessed their behavior personally & had gambled with mom & boyfriend for several nights before all of this happened.

RCCL was very discrete about all of it. But all parties involved were very vocal about what occurred.

... they seem nice. 😆🤣

If i spoke or treated my mom like that as well as being ashamed i would get a kicking from my siblings and my mom. So sad people have no respect for their parents. I feel for the mother, hopefully she will tell her daughter where to go....

... then again .. she raised that daughter, so . ... .

Are you saying she was sober?

All my encounters with her were not in the Casino they were when we docked in the mornings and left the ship. She was either not taking meds or in serious need of them.

Cat food, such as canned purina fancy feast is a huge problem.  I havent been able to get my cats their choice flavors for quite sometime.    Lots of folks have been scrambling for various items.   Plus prices for just about anything  keep going up up up!

@Smq123. I will be on a b2b on Anthem starting March 20th I hope they have plenty of rum and mint leaves for my mojitos!!   What type of drinks did you have problems getting?

What I dont understand is how she ended up bunking with the guy that just went thru all the problems with his roommate that got thrown off in PC. Why would he allow her to bunk with him?

Doesn't sound like he has the best taste in friends, if you ask me...which would explain why he let another train wreck into his life.

Poor guy.  He had to pay megabucks for his boyfriend to get off the ship at Port Canaveral then he takes in a wild chick as a roommate who accuses him of stealing from her.  Nice cruise....

I’ve been living & working in NYC seeing firsthand the devastation of the pandemic. I understand the concept of “cost cutting” vs. “supply change issues” and the need to adapt quickly during a pandemic. I was simply commenting on the fact that RCCL was operating with limited supplies in food & beverage. It was a noticeable issue while on board. In my profession we have been very transparent that we are working with limited resources, limited staff and have been unable to provide services which sometimes resulted in life or death. It was sad. It was devastating. But we did the best we could do under the circumstances.
