ShazM Posted May 23, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2022 How long is your cruise? We are on the transpacific and it is just over $100 AUD per person per day. Even Chops is almost $100, it is nice but worth that? And then you have the room prices that are going up and down every day. A junior suite is around $11,000 (for 2 people) more than a balcony on Ovation, crazy stuff for a room with very little perks. They aren't going to get too many takers at those prices.
Jasp 0401 Posted May 23, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2022 The whole cruise prices are really terrible .

Rare ReneeFLL Posted May 23, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 23, 2022 That’s about $85.00 US. I think it’s very high, but others have posted they still think it’s worth it. The one and only time we bought the DP was on a TP in 2017. It was $48.00 and I thought that was high. 😁

Snoopkat Posted May 23, 2022 #7 Share Posted May 23, 2022 It's ridiculous. I could bring 4 bottles of Dom Perignon onboard and it would still be cheaper than their drinks package.

What We Found Travelling Posted May 23, 2022 #10 Share Posted May 23, 2022 The drinks package for a couple is dearer than the per night cruise cost. Incredible!

Magicat Posted May 23, 2022 #12 Share Posted May 23, 2022 (edited) Just off the Adventure a couple of weeks ago and they were running out of beer and liquor. Hendricks Gin, Jack Daniels, Port Wine, Belvedere Vodka, Guinness, just to name a few brands that were nowhere to be found on board. If I had purchased the UDP, I would have asked for my money back. I see a surge in Run Runners being purchased. LOL Edited May 23, 2022 by Magicat
BND Posted May 23, 2022 #13 Share Posted May 23, 2022 (edited) If people quit buying it, they'll rethink their pricing. But, that won't happen. We've never bought it because in any type of calculation I can think of, it's never a good or even mediocre deal and we're in the US. BTW, as of today, that's $85 in US dollars and is similar to what I've seen posted. Royal offers the pkg because it makes them money, not to save you money. cruisegirl1 Posted May 23, 2022 #14 Share Posted May 23, 2022 Pricing is CRAZY. Royal inflates a price and then makes up a sale! I don't purchase the drink package and don't pay much attention to the pricing but the prices showing on this thread are HIGH. RCCL extra pricing is ridiculous. We just paid over $80 pp to use our BOGO at chops. Don't think we'll do that again. Coco Beach club is well over $225 PER PERSON for the day. Cabanas are $3,500 for the day. My weeklong cruise for 2 in a balcony cabin was less than that! M
CaroleC Posted May 23, 2022 #15 Share Posted May 23, 2022 We’ve just paid £40 for ours. Believe this only a UK promotion though. Big difference in price to what others are quoting in this thread.

Rare Tree_skier Posted May 23, 2022 #18 Share Posted May 23, 2022 Most of mine are all in the $75 range. Maybe Royal really does hate Aussies.
smokeybandit Posted May 23, 2022 #19 Share Posted May 23, 2022 People too often get addicted to the drink packages. You don't need a drink package to drink.

You don't need a drink package to drink. I was really torn on the package. Wife and I drink pretty solidly on vacation. I sat down and wrote out what we would reasonably drink plus the port days plus CoCo Cay and determined if the price ever went under $65 pp/per day then we would be getting our money's worth without needing to commit to getting absolutely hammered. So when it was at $60.99 I got it. There's also some peace of mind attached that I don't have to worry about calculating how much we've spent on the cruise based on what we felt was "worth it" for a drink package, so as long as we get in the "ballpark" of what we spent for the drink package, I'm fine with that. HicksRA Posted May 23, 2022 #21 Share Posted May 23, 2022 Probably trying to make up the difference from all the passengers with 4, 5, and 6 drink vouchers that are no longer purchasing the UBP.
Rare rudeney Posted May 23, 2022 #22 Share Posted May 23, 2022 RCI is making fun of as all with these crazy DBP prices. When we first booked, it was $65 and I didn;t buy it because it was not a good deal. Now it's $75.
Rare MandyMooToo Posted May 23, 2022 #23 Share Posted May 23, 2022 We just purchased it at $77.99pp in US dollars, so around $109 AUD I think, and that was a "sale" price.
