Carolyn, the Mexican Marshmallows are very light and fluffy, and are made with Mexican vanilla.  The testure is very different from the marshmallows you can buy at the grocery store. Your can buy the smores kit which has the marshmallows, Biscoff cookies, and Belgium dark chocolate. It's available around the Christmas holidays, and you can buy the marshmallows separately.   DD and DSIL get it at Amy's Ice Creams in Austin.   This is a link to Amy's Ice Creams, which also makes very good ice cream.  https://amysicecreams.com/  Hope I didn't jinx anything with the link.

Thank you Lenda, that sounds so good!

When my older sister moved to Florida she told us about the humidity. She said that after taking a shower, you dry off, dry off again, dry off again, and then give up and get dressed.

Haha!  That's pretty much how DH describes living in Savannah.

There are tons of tasty twists on s'mores out there, too. Try adding sliced strawberries, bananas, or raspberries, or go all out with a smear of Nutella for National S'mores Day. Or if you're really adventuresome, try a "Shutter-upper" -- toasted marshmallow and a caramel between two soda crackers.

Yum!  I'd go for the sliced strawberries or raspberries.  By the way, when I grew up, they were called "Angels on Horseback".  I don't know if that was a regional thing or just what my family called them.  Has anyone else heard that name for them?  I didn't hear S'mores until I was an adult.

I called Flight Ease direct and got a better response.  I was upset that AA had dumped me from First Class into Economy and my PCC said there wasn't anything else.  Flight Ease changed it for me at no charge since it was due to the airline making changes.  Give them a try.  Oh, the best part was there was no wait.

Good news!!

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

Hmmm, not being lazy today. I've never had a s'mores. I like lions.

Interesting quote. I'll pass on the meal (fish), take the drink and wine.

I have been to Buenos Aries, on my Zaandam SA/Antarctica cruise.

So sad about the Koningsdam crewmember who went overboard.

It's now sunny and 75F. Humidity is supposed to start dropping this evening. Busy, busy. First I finally found out how to get my address corrected (there were two since at one time my house had an apartment on the second floor) so I can get Informed Delivery. Then I began clearing out a filing cabinet (while looking for something), with lots of tossing and shredding. Also gathering trash and recycling to put out this evening. And gathering stuff to be picked up for donation tomorrow morning. And doing laundry. Whew! So no lazy day for me.

@kazu Thinking of you and Shadow.

@Seasick Sailor Scary about the grass fire.

@grapau27 So sad about Pauline's colleague to pass at such a young age.

@RedneckBob Yikes on all that damage from the lightning strike! Thankfully no fire.

@Horizon chaser 1957 Oh my, so scary for DD! Prayers for her and the people of Taiwan.

Prayers for the Care List and a salute to the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

Talk about frustrating.  I had my post with all the pictures of Buenos Aires ready, clicked on Submit Reply, and POOF!  😱   So I'll try again, and hope I don't wind up with two posts of the pictures.

We visited Buenos Aires twice.  The first time in 1999 on Noordam III.  We had an afternoon and a full day there.  We took a ship tour of the city, including Recoleta Cemetery the first day.  The next day, we took a train to Tigre on the Lujan River.  All my pictures of that visit are pre-digital.

In 2015, on Ruby Princess, we took the shuttle into town, and got a Ho-Ho tour.

Casa Rosada (Pink House) is the seat of the Argentine national government and houses the president's office.  It was the scene of much of the city's history, and it was from the balconies of the Casa Rosada that Juan and “Evita” Perón addressed the masses during the late 1940s and early 1950s.  The balcony scene in "Evita" was filmed at the Casa Rosada.

Good morning, all! It’s been a very busy week with company - hence I’ve been lurking but never quite enough time to post. A Lazy Day is very welcome, and with everyone gone now, the timing is perfect. We made s’mores at several propane fire ring campfires, and they were a big hit as always! Exactly two months today we sail away on the Grand Africa, hopefully on our way to see lions.
We went to Buenos Aries in January 2020 on the shortened GWV. DH and I took the shuttle into town, and toured on the HOHO bus. Here are a few random pictures, starting with sail in and ending with sailing away with BA dwindling into the sunset.

Sail in. Unlike Rio, BA puts you in a container port. The plus is a shuttle to one of the main plazas downtown.

Then onto the HOHO with earphones provided and commentary available in several languages. We had seats on the upper deck, with the better view.

On a more serious note, DD has been calling home a lot. China conducted four days of live fire drills in the waters around Taiwan. This included firing missles over Taipei to land in the waters beyond. This meant, of course, that shipping and air traffic was suspended for safety reasons. It was very scary there. In the twelve years she’s lived there, this is the first time I’ve seen her upset. Normally the Taiwanese just shrug off the saber  rattling as everyday rhetoric. This time it’s different. If she needs to come home while we’re away, the house is waiting for her. She doesn’t want to leave, and but if the Chinese invade staying is not an option. Neither will going back. It’s a stressful time for everyone there.

Anyway, Happy Wednesday, everyone, whether on or off a BHB!

Great photos, thanks for posting.

Woo-Hoo!!!!!  We are getting some much needed rain, and now thunder and wind.

Thanks goodness it is National Lazy Day. I need it after yesterday. Had huge thunderstorm, lightning hit the house and knocked out everything. Have lined up cable, phone, security, electrical and lawn sprinkler guy today and tomorrow. My sprinkler panel and underground pipe exploded and the plug in transformer blew out onto garage floor with the plugs still left in the socket. On a lighter note, hopefully will post tomorrow another cruise story titled “An Appetizer  to Remember”.

Bob, sorry the lightning played such havoc with your house yesterday.  I'm glad no one was hurt and the house was not damaged.  Hope all the systems are up and running now.

However, another line (I forget now which one) who berths at the Railroad dock, has cancelled Skagway for the rest of the season and has replaced that port with ISP!!  I know that lots of folks like Skagway but I really prefer ISP/Hoonah.  Better hiking than Skagway, that's all.  And that's JMO.

Susan, I'm sure you have thought of this, but there is probably some hiking in Dyea besides going part way up the  Chilkoot Pass.  Even with the additon of a zip-line and dog sledding, it is pretty much a wilderness.

That's great news they changed your reservation back without any fees.  Even better news was no wait!

Vanessa, sometimes just looking for something can lead to major weeding and tossing.  Good for you.

Was of now, we have gotten 0.11 inch of rain, and it's still coming down.

Lenda

The rain is now up to 0.25 inch, and still coming down.

Woo-Hoo!!!!!  We are getting some much needed rain, and now thunder and wind.

Bob, sorry the lightning played such havoc with your house yesterday.  I'm glad no one was hurt and the house was not damaged.  Hope all the systems are up and running now.

Thanks. Spectrum cable completed their work this am, ADT has to replace entire security system and is working on it, up next lawn sprinkler company tommorrow. Y’all are right, thank goodness no fire. Never had this happen before. We did have lightning hit one of our cypress trees years ago and it literally rained mulch on the backyard. Saved a lot on buying at Home Depot 😀 But unfortunately the mulch was not spread evenly!

I had mentioned that I had been to Buenos Aires several times and that it was the gateway to Iguazu falls.  In 2017 I did one of my craziest combinations sailing Crystal Serenity Buenos Aires to Rio, flying back to BA (my only time ever on Emirates), and then 5 days later boarded Zaandam to San Diego.

In 2016 I had sailed Crystal Symphony Buenos Aires to Miami, and for the segment from Valparaizo to Miami I met a lady who did not fly.  She had sailed QM2 New York to Rio, toured South America and returned on Symphony, and she described the bus system to me.  The buses in Brazil have luxury sections that are very much like business class on airplanes including flat beds and onboard meals.  I was interested and found a tour from Buenos Aires to Iguazu using the buses and it was a good fit for my time between Serenity and Zaandam.  I boarded the bus:

in the evening (the sleeping seats were on the top deck) and when the time came the seat became a bed:

We arrived in Iguazu the next day and toured the Brazilian side of the falls the following day:

You can never count on help, much less free help, to spread mulch or do anything correctly

One time, we had lightning hit a transformer near the house while I was cooking.  It blew out the element on the electric stove that was on, but no other damage.  I just turned the element off and moved the pot to another one and continued with dinner  I grew up with my father working for the electric utility and DH worked for a sister company, so I knew to respect electricity.  I also realized that the rest of the stove was all right.

We later discovered the lightning the lightning had taken out our telephone service, back in the days of Ma Bell.  It took the electric company mere hours to replace the transformer, but MA Bell days to get our phone back in service.

It's certainly a lot of inconvenience for you but like others said, no house fire!  We had a neighbor's house hit by lightning during the night once, maybe 20 years ago or more.  Unknown to them a fire began smoldering in their attic.  Before dawn the next morning they had a roaring fire going on.  All got out safely but the house was considered totaled.  DH discovered all the excitement up the street when he couldn't get through all the emergency equipment and fire hoses to drive to work, so he turned around and came back to wait it out.  The family moved into a rental somewhere and had to rebuild the house which took quite a while.  It was an exact duplicate of the original.  They added lightning rods to the house so it wouldn't strike there twice.

Another neighbor a few doors down had a house fire in 2014 but theirs wasn't caused by lightning.  It was an electrical outlet that caused it.  They also had to start from scratch and rebuild their home.  Hmmm, I wonder if DH and I are bad luck or something?

Hi friends! I've had a few busy days because my son is moving the remainder of his stuff into my house on Saturday, so there's been a flurry of activity trying to make space for it!

I like the days - the only time I ate smores was on Girl Scout camping trips, and they were delicious

! we also made dinner packets that we cooked in the campfires. Good times!

Prayers for everyone in harm's way around the world. Wouldn't it be lovely if we all could live in peace?

A little sad today because I got word that a member of my church -- a 99-year-old veteran of WWII -- died this morning. We just sang Happy Birthday for him a few weeks ago and he said he hoped to make it to 100. RIP Loren!

I've started getting  some surprising emails lately connected to my long-since-cancelled cruise on the Volendam that would have happened later this month. I've gotten notices from the airlines (Icelandic and Delta) reminding me of the reservations and protocols! I made the arrangements through Flight Ease, so shouldn't they have notified the airlines that the trip was cancelled? Do I have any liability if they didn't? I wouldn't think so, but...?

Stay well & safe everyone!

Tried to post some pics and they just did not load. Had a wonderful day along with fantastic weather. The hills and plains are turning purple as the Heather is close to full bloom. Last night in hotel with this tour. Tomorrow we will be dropped off at airport hotel and Friday we fly to Amsterdam. Sunday we board MS Rotterdam for a two week best of Norway cruise.

By the way, when I grew up, they were called "Angels on Horseback".  I don't know if that was a regional thing or just what my family called them.  Has anyone else heard that name for them?

I've heard the term for s'mores, but usually it denotes oysters wrapped in bacon.

Wow.  That definition  definitely wouldn't have applied to my parents, I doubt if either of them ever ate an oyster in their life.  Interesting though!

I would love to eat oysters wrapped in bacon.  I'd eat a dog biscuit if it was wrapped in bacon...oh wait, I have eaten a dog biscuit...It wasnt bad.  On a dare mind you, not because i was overly hungry.  Oysters and bacon just sound right together.

Thank you all for the pictures today!  I have loved all of them.  My favorite one was by @JazzyV-the tree.  Oh to be young again and climb a tree.  I probably could climb, it's the down part I fear.

@RedneckBobWhat an experience with the lightening!  Please make sure your smoke detectors have batteries.    My friend's brother came back from Vietnam with a thing about squirrels and he poured gas on one in her outside utility room and cooked it-now RedneckBob, this is not a cooking show, dont get excited,  but even though he put the fire out, a small spark got into the old attic wood, and slowly burned for two days until the house went up in flames!  So check everything!

OK, another dumb question....  @AV8rix what is ISP? in place of Skagway?

Is this beach near where you live?  If so you and wife are lucky ducks.

It is at South Shields about 12 miles from home.

It was voted number 1 beach in England by the Sunday Times newspaper.

It overlooks the piers where ships from Port of Tyne Newcastle leave.

Our nearest beach is 5 miles away from home.

The north east coast of England has lots of nice beaches.
