Good morning friends!  We had a short shower last night before I went to bed but that's it for rain yesterday.  This morning it's 59F and will rise to only 70 with sunny skies expected.  Sounds good to me!

Thanks Rich @richwmn for the Daily and Fleet Report.  Cheers to the bald and free among us.  Does anyone walk anywhere anymore much less to school?  I know I had to walk to my elementary school as a child since we lived less than one mile away. We should all appreciate World Smile Day!  Can't wait to hear the lasagna variations.  😋  No idea what the cocktail Take 9 is.  I'm equally clueless on the wine today.  So thanks in advance to Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for the explanations.  Prayers offered up for all on the Care list, my DB, and my friend's DH and DB.  She hasn't updated in a few days so of course I'm worried, but hope no news is good news.  🙏  To those celebrating the good things in life we salute you!🥂  Have fun, cruisers!🚢  Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for the outstanding lists again today!

DS and DGS Ren are both in South Bend today visiting Notre Dame.  There is a soccer game tonight with Notre Dame playing Duke, so good luck ND!  I hear it's broadcasting on ESPN+ but I don't have that.

The port today is a group of towns on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.  They include Uig-Dunvegan-Armadale-Portree.  We spent a lovely day in Portree in 2019 on our beloved Prinsendam.  Portree was the destination here on Sept. 6, 2022 (my anniversary!).  Here is the link for your convenience in retrieving photos.

Hoping everyone traveling stays safe and well, and to all - have a great weekend.  And happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian pals!

What a wonderful last cruise (for us) that was on the Prinsendam in 2019!  We saw many smaller towns as is usual with a small ship.  The weather was outstanding!  Here's a photo of a tender boat heading into shore.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLQWzq5Ii6hgrN6Aame5TfR?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1558789926

Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.

Thunder and rain this morning, haven't seen any lightning yet.  It's still dark so I don't know when Bertie and I will go for a walk.

Three cheers for the bald and free.  I walked to school.  We live down the street from an elementary school and I see lots of kids and parents walking, of course I see a lot of kids being driven to school too.  Big smiles today and everyday.

I like the quote.

Looking forward to seeing recipes for today's meal suggestion.  Not sure about the drink and wine.

We were in Portree on the Zuiderdam in June.  Wonderful place to visit.  Thanks for the pictures Sandi, great memories.

Prayers for everyone.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a great day.

Good morning Dailyites,

It's still dark but it's supposed to be a beautiful day.

Yesterday was my last Committee meeting as Treasurer. 3 years. We had a nice brunch on the back patio. Great group of ladies.

I don't care for today's quote. I have been to Isle of Skye on a land trip. No idea what the wine will be but it sounds interesting.

Prayers to all on Vanessa's care list. Cheers to all celebrations.

Meeting friends for lunch today and preparing for my sisters visit next week.

Have a great weekend.

Thank you for today’s FR & D, Rich! A cool, cloudy morning. Possible showers, but just mostly cloudy is the forecast.

Vanessa, thank you for capturing our happenings.  I hope you find a solution to your pain.

Zumba, gardening, Bindi walks and a trip to the beach for supper & some wine. Sounds like a great day to me.

Domìni Veneti Appassimento

I enjoy learning new things about wine - such as “appassimento” being the technique of drying grapes on mats after harvesting. I used the 2021 vintage info since that should be easy to find. I would definitely enjoy tasting this reasonably priced dry red. Online prices start at $11.99.

Distributor notes

Domini Veneti is the prestige series from Cantina di Negrar, which has refined and since then mastered the appassimento technique over several centuries.
Cantina di Negrar, which in 2011 was honored under VinItaly as the best Veneto producer, produces both amarone, valpolicella and other well-known Veneto wines – all with an excellent ratio between price and quality as a common denominator.

The grape varieties for Domini Veneti Appassimento are the classics for the area, namely corvina, rondinella and corvinone but also a small amount of cabernet sauvignon. They are grown as classic double pergolas with an average age of over 25 years.

After the harvest at the end of September, the bunches of grapes were dried for two months before fermentation – a process that can be felt in the finished wine in the form of more concentration and enough sugar in the grapes for the finished wine to have a residual sugar content of approx. 8 grams/liter; enough to round off the wine but still with the fruit in focus and far below the markedly sweeter style of the southern Italian and overseas copies.
The wine is aged in large oak barrels of varying sizes for approx. 10 months before assembly.

The color is deep red and the aroma is characterized by cherries, a touch of dark berries, fresh almonds, and a little dried flowers, while the taste is harmoniously full with a nice appassimento character that does not end with definite sweetness, but simply adds some density to the lovely cherry fruit.

Enjoy this lovable wine with a wide range of roasts, not too violent braises and ‘hard’ cheeses such as the local monte veronese or one of the aged pecorino types.

Serve the wine below room temperature at 16-18° in a spacious ‘Bordeaux glass’ so that you can also enjoy the aroma of the wine.

The wine can be drunk now, but it can also be aged for a handful of years.

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report.  Zander and Mona had me up at 5 this morning. I was surprised to see that the promised rain hadn’t appeared, now it’s supposed to be much less than predicted.  Yesterday I found a flat of 24 Friskies cans at Job Lot for $9.99 and picked up two.  The flavor was approved by the overlords so I think I’ll get a few more today.

Yesterday morning I did get a room cleaned.  For a moment I thought DH was a flight risk when I told him I had something to do in that room.  He cooperated and cleaned up his mess, when I told him he didn’t clean off the top enough I got a look.  He actually did a good job after that when he realized how deep the clean was.  After I showed him how dirty the water in the bucket was he suggested we get a maid.🤣. He wishes I went to PA.

Not much on today’s agenda.  I think we will go out to dinner but no idea where.

It was nice to see a dam ship in Port Everglades this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day today.

I may get aboard the snooze train this afternoon.

Good morning from a rainy Maryland. I’ll be leaving for retreat soon, wonderful respite! I didn’t promise but I did say I’d try to come back next year, take tge train down!  The thought helps me take leave of these warm friends who helped me heal from the very difficult move from NM, feeling like parts of me were turn out as I left my community and work  there!  I did heal, and now feel internally ready for this next move, externally there’s a ton of stuff to figure out but it’ll happen. DH’s eye pressures are creeping up but not too bad. We’ll start working on a finding a new glaucoma specialist in NJ before the move. And start on appts fir me for screenings I won’t get here, mammo and colonoscopy. Onward!

Im not “getting” the quote.  We visited Isle of Skye on a land tour. It was stormy, pouring rain. The bus had to take the long drive around to the bridge because the ferry was stopped due to the weather. We visited the Clan MacDonald museum and in a short break in the rain we walked the gardens. Like everywhere, lots of history. I think it was King Charles I who escaped to there incognito in woman’s clothing.  Graham can clean up my memory.

Blessings already sent!
Bon Voyage to Jacqui, Tina and @St Pete Cruiser (so glad he’s recovered from his nightmare of his last cruise with tge deadly spider bite!). Life is Good!

Good morning. It’s 68 but the cold front isn’t supposed to arrive until around 11:00 AM. Supposed to be quite breezy. @StLouisCruisersSandi enjoyed your pictures today. We actually stayed overnight in that quaint town.

Walked to school and biked. In winter it was all walking and would imagine going to the gym for basketball practice and everything else we must have put in at least five miles a day not including court time.  At times in freezing weather and deep snow. Being Vermont there were many hills. We were in great shape. Now I average 2 miles per day in relatively flat streets.

It seems strange but for the first time this week one of us doesn’t have to stay around the house. After walks we may go to breakfast.

For our Canadians enjoy prepping for your big holiday Monday. We actually bought our turkey yesterday for Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the reports. The Alaska season is over. Two of my sister-in-laws board the Eurodam today for the repositioning to Florida.

Have a great weekend. Bruce

Good morning, everyone!

This is going to have to be a post and run today as I have a meeting at 9 and then the rest of the day is full of family stuff.  The last few days have been busy.

Today's meal is Lasagna Variations.  We've had all kinds of lasagna recipes lately from soup to roll ups.  So, is there anything left we can do with lasagna?   How about this Greek style lasagna from Better Homes and Gardens?  https://www.bhg.com/recipe/lamb/greek-style-lasagna/

lasagnavariations1.thumb.jpg.8bdbb0fda8e7a3f272282adbac496f52.jpg

Or Chicken Ceasar Lasagna?   https://www.bhg.com/recipe/pasta/chicken-caesar-lasagna/

lasagnavariations2.thumb.jpg.33c9b69551e8a6722df7a56d77765058.jpg

And it is the season for Pumpkin Lasagna!  https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/pumpkin-lasagna-ricotta-and-swiss-chard

lasagnavariations3.jpg.18b96967ab5306dde00e281e3c6d8445.jpg

If we can have Italian lasagna and Greek lasagna, how about Mexican lasagna?   https://www.dinneratthezoo.com/mexican-lasagna/

lasagnavariations4.thumb.jpg.fcc0b6c44f70719078db6274641e52df.jpg

Last in the list is White Chicken Asparagus Lasagna.  What can you come up with?   https://www.thespruceeats.com/white-chicken-asparagus-lasagna-recipe-1808379

Good morning. It is drizzling now and heavier rain is possible later. The temperatures are expected to drop overnight. Our outside oil tank developed a leak and the repairs for that will start on Monday. It was considered an emergency but still took a while for the contractor to secure permits. It will be chilly in the house by tomorrow and of course we are concerned about Tana. We do have space heaters ready.
My DS inherited the family trait of baldness. I walked to High School  and took the public bus home in bad weather. I am very fortunate to be able to walk to a grocery store, hair dresser and many restaurants. I do see many people in my age range out walking every day and I think we are all healthier for it. Lasagna in any form is alright with me.

Today’s port looks like a great place to visit. Thanks to Sandi @StLouisCruisers for the pictures.

Bon Voyage to Jacqui, Tina and  @St Pete Cruiser!

Good morning to all.

Thank you to Rich for the Daily and Fleet Report. To Vanessa for the Cares and Celebration Lists, To Ann, Debbie and Dixie in the F&B department.

I don’t particularly like the quote.

As for the food, I love lasagna in the traditional form and would make it.  However, my version takes days to make.  Since we are not having any company, it will not get made.  Someday!

The wine and cocktail look good.

I have not been to the Isle of Skye.  However, I enjoyed the photos.  Thank you to Sandi @StLouisCruisers.

Prayers for al on the Cares list.  Terry @smitty34877, you and your family are in my daily prayers. I am so glad to hear that you were able to have a nice dinner out with your family the other night.  I am sure that helped quite a bit.  Happy you have a new aide for Tana.

Prayers continue for Baby Murphy and wish we would get an update.

Bon Voyage for all who are embarking on a cruise today and cheers to those who are sailing.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Pray for peace.  We don’t need another war!

God Bless,

Terri

Good morning and best wishes for good health and relief from stressful situations.

I have been mostly AWOL since returning from our Greenland trip.  Lovely voyage and would do it again in a heartbeat.  DH still recovering from bronchitis—it’s a slow process.

Very rainy forecast for this weekend — hoping east coast mlb playoff games go off without a hitch.

I have been following Roy’s postings about his trip.  Sounds delightful.  Best wishes, Roy, for a continued wonderful voyage.

Have a great weekend.  Katherine

Good morning from central Texas.  It is 56F and feels like 54F  It will warm all the way up to 71F today, and will be sunny.  The humidity is 53% with a dew point of 39F.  I'm glad the humidity has finally lowered.  Tomorrow we will be back in the 80 and 90s until next Saturday.  Then our highs will be the mid to upper 70s.  This morning, I need to get two more bags of top soil and a bag of mulch.  Mid-day will be spent watching the Texas Longhorns play the Oklahoma Sooners in the Cotton Bowl.  🤘 HOOKEM HORNS!  🤘

DH will be celebrating Bald and Free Day, but I'm glad I won't be celebrating the day.  I walked to school some in fifth and sixth grade, but before that my parents took me to school.  The DDs always rode the school bus until they got their driver's license.  I'm all for World Smile Day.  We should smile every day.

I don't agree completely with the Robert Louis Stevenson's quote.  We should succeed, but the times we do fail, we should learn from the failure and keep up our good spirits.

We'll pass on the lasagna since our dinner will be meatloaf, scalloped potatoes and salad to go with our wine.  Lasagna will be saved until week after next.  We'll pass on the drink, but the red wine sounds good. 🍷

We have not been to the Isle of Skye.

Two more good days in history.  I've not seen cats, but I enjoy the music from the show along with most of Andrew Lloyd Webber's music.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, I hope Ren and your DS enjoy their visit to Norte Dame.  I hope you get some encouraging news about your friend's DH today.  Enjoyed your pictures from Portree.

@smitty34877  Terry, I hope the space heaters will keep the house warm until the tank can be repaired or replaced.  I hope the cooler house does not cause Tana any further problems.

@RMLincoln  Maureen, I hope your DH's eye pressure won't increase any more.

@Lady Hudson Katherine,  I hope your DH continues to improve and is over the bronchitis soon.

For all the East Coast Dailyites, I hope Phillippe will not bring too much rain and wind.

Happy Saturday!  I do read here every day, but don't post often.  Prayers for all who need them, and cheers for those traveling and celebrating good things.  The port today looks like a good one, also the meal!  The lasagne soup from last week looked good, might try that soon!  I have a new dutch oven, and I've been trying new things in it.  It's getting to be soup season here,  We had 80's last week, but 50's the last few days.  DGD is dancing at her Middle School Football game today...will need the warm clothes today...last week was hot!  Have a great Saturday, I think we're also looking for a new dishwasher today...the old one is having issues.  Any brand recommendations??

Have a great day!  Karen

Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports Rich!    No bald people in my family but I did have to walk a long way to my bus stop from all 12 grades.   A strange quote.   Thanks for the photos of Portree today Sandi, it looks like a beautiful place to visit.    @dfish thanks for the lasagna recipes,  the chicken one looks good, I am more or a traditional lasagna person.    @summer slope that is a strange cocktail but thanks for finding it for us.   @cat shepard thanks for the information on the wine,  I hope I can find it because I would term it poor man's Amarone.

@smitty34877 You are surely due for a break, just as the weather turns cold you have heating problems.   @JazzyV thanks for keeping us up to date on all of the happenings.  Prayers for all needing then and the people of Ukraine.

We have had a lot of rain and more rain and wind today.   Our furnace finally came on last night, as long as I have been back in Michigan I can't recall making it through the first week of October without it coming on.    Holed up in the house today racking some wine and probably pre-entering in stuff that is due here in the next few weeks.  Ribs fir dinner here, perfect for a cold, windy day.    Have a nice Saturday,  Nancy

I understand Take 9; after several of this drink you will be required to Take 9 steps in a straight line to have another Take 9. 😀
