Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.  Thanks to everyone who contributes to this thread in so many ways.

We had a bit of rain overnight, and a chance of showers later today.  It's only 8°C (47°F) now, today's high is only 10°C (50°F), not much of a warm up.  Oh well, Bertie and I will go for a walk when the sun comes up.

I like sweetest day, I guess I'll do something nice for my sweetie.  White canes are a good thing.  It seems like there are too many things to repair lately.

I like the quote, but unfortunately, I can't always finish a day and be done with it, I relive my errors.

I'll pass on the meal and drink and hope the wine isn't expensive.

I've never been to today's port.

I guess that's Napoleon's second exile, Elba wasn't good enough.

Prayers for our world.

I hope everyone has a good day.  Stay safe.

Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie.  Best wishes @NextOne.  3 Great days today.  Interesting that we have 2 entries featuring French exile today, Iles de Salut and St Helena.  I;ve been to Devils Island on Prinsendam and Maasdam, and St. Helena on Amsterdam.

I love the Emerson quote.  I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Chilled 3-berry ministrone, Beef and Vegitable Soup,  Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad, and Peach Crisp as served on MS Amsterdam October 15, 2017:

After a very wet Saturday today looks nicer.

Good morning friends!  This morning we have a temp of 54F and "dark".  We will have a sunny morning, a cloudy afternoon and a high of only 64 degrees!  It really is fall in Georgia.  Thank you Rich @richwmn for today's Daily and Fleet Report.

The days to celebrate or honor are interesting.  Like the world eyesight day on Oct. 12 we must promote White Cane Safety.  I for one am grateful I have no need of a white cane.  I'll celebrate Sweetest Day and International Repair Day on Oct. 21 since this is not their day.  I remember Oct. 21 as Sweetest Day because that is my DM's birthday.  A good Emerson quote.  I'll be interested to see the recipes for Vegan Crunch Wrap.  I would probably skip the cocktail and the pinot Noir.  Poor Napoleon Bonaparte having to go into exile.  Thanks to our F&B ladies Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard.

Prayers for our dear friends here on the Daily, the people of Israel and Ukraine, my DB, Scott and Mark, and Baby Murphy and family.  🙏  Extra prayers for Edi @NextOne as she moves closer to her open heart surgery on Tuesday.  Cheers to those cruising and everyone celebrating happy things going on in their lives.🥂 Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for the great lists you keep.

The port is Iles du Salut, French Guiana, the first time for that name.  In the past we've had Devil's Island, French Guiana.  My research shows Iles du Salute is the island group off the coast of French Guiana. It's also know as the Salvation Islands.  The islands are named Isle Royale, Isle St. Joseph and Isle du Diable.  So I guess the purpose of using Iles du Salute is to allow us to share what we've seen in any of those islands.  I think most of us have only been to Devil's Island "Isle du Diable.  I was there in late 2022 on the Volendam.  Here are the links to previous dates, Sept. 13, 2021 and July 19, 2023.

Hoping we all have a safe and healthy day!  Pictures coming up.

Thank you for today’s FR & D, Rich! A lovely 65 this morning. Venus & Jupiter are bright in the sky. The Eastern sky is just beginning to lighten.

Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with all of us. Praying that an end to your pain is in sight.

Gym, Aldi, Bindi walks, chores & celebrating my Great Nephew’s 16th birthday. How can that be? I will say birthday cards that a 16 year old boy would enjoy are pretty scarce.

Prayers for all who need our support. @smitty34877 Terry, praying for you, Tana, your families s& your support teams.  @HAL Sailer Melissa, praying your DH continues to improve.

Cheers to all who are celebrating!

May we each find a reason to smile today.

2021 King Estate Inscription Pinot Noir

I have personally enjoyed every wine I have tried from this Willamette Valley vintner. This PN has a huge number of consumer fans. Fairly easy to find, and very reasonable for the quality. Online prices start at $15.95.

Winemaker Notes

A deep ruby color in the glass, the wine greets the nose with fruit aromas of raspberry, black plum and currant, with violet, orange peel, cedar, leather and forest floor. Flavors of dark fruit – black cherry, plum and currant –up front on the palate are joined by bramble and cedar with some tobacco and leather. This is a bold wine with full fruit, balanced acidity and smooth tannins. A long, lingering finish boasts big fruit and spicy, toasty oak.

92James Suckling

A focused and mineral pinot with aromas of cranberries, rosemary, red tea, white pepper and lemon zest. Medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Tight and vibrant.

In honor of Iles du Salute here is my offering of my time spent on one of the 3 islands.

Today we have the unique port of Devil's Island, French Guiana which is often included on the Amazon River cruises.  It is located on the northeastern coast of South America.  We arrived on Nov. 25, 2022 on Volendam and here is a first view from the tender boat.

French 75 cocktail:

French 75 is a cocktail made from gin, champagne, lemon juice, and sugar. It is also called a 75 Cocktail, or in French simply a Soixante Quinze. The drink dates to World War I, and an early form was created in 1915 at the New York Bar in Paris—later Harry's New York Bar—by barman Harry MacElhone. Wikipedia

Main alcohol: Champagne
Ingredients:
 1 oz Gin
1/2 oz Lemon juice
2 Dashes Simple syrup
2 oz Champagne

Preparation: Combine gin, syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into an iced champagne glass. Top up with Champagne. Stir gently.
Drinkware: Champagne flute
Served: Straight up; without ice

Good Morning, thanks for today’s daily fleet report. It looks like we have another nice dry day on tap.  I’m curious about today’s meal suggestion but have my doubts, maybe @dfish will share recipes that appeal.  I’m not sure what’s on the menu for today.  I’ve been trying to research a new laptop but all the choices just overwhelm me so I don’t make a decision to pull the trigger.

Yesterday when we came home I noticed that a neighbor has a large Christmas wreath hung on the side of their house.  Seems a bit early to me.

Today’s chores are a load of laundry, a trip to Aldi and cleaning a cabinet or two inside and out.

I hope everyone has a good Sunday.

Good morning! It’s 56 degrees out this morning and will only get to low seventies. Our dinner party was superb last night and we enjoyed fellowship with our dear friends.

Church this morning and then I need to go to the base and get some last minute items for the cruise. It’s time to start packing as we leave the following Monday.

@NextOne Thoughts and wishes for a successful upcoming heart surgery.

Thanks for the Fleet Report and all who loyally post our featured post. Enjoy the day and have a great week. Bruce

French 75; are you sure it is not French 65 cause that reminds me of something that happened to me in school. Way back in the Fall of 1965 I was just starting my third year of learning French in school under the same teacher, Mr. Rene Leveque. On that first day in class on or about September 6, 1965, I walked into the French class, sat in my chair and Mr. Leveque walked into the classroom. The first thing he said was, “Welcome to French; Mr. RedneckBob, you have taken French in my class for the past two years, you have learned nothing, I suggest you go take Latin!” ☹️. I followed his suggestion and became proficient in Roman numerals. Of course this story had nothing to do with this cocktail. 😀

Good morning from a chilly central Texas where it is 50F but feels like 47F.  There is an 8mph wind from the NW with 76% humidity.  The dew point is 43F.  It is supposed to be sunny today once the sun rises at 7:36am, and our high will be 69F.  On today's agenda is laundry and a trip to the store to get what else I need to make lasagna for dinner.  It's a good day to used the oven.

There are three good days to celebrate, but I hope we are about through with the repairs for a while.  White can safety day is an important day.

The Ralph Waldo Emerson quote is a good one to live by, but some days it is easier said than done.

I think we'll pass on the meal and the drink.  The wine would be good with tonight's dinner.

We have been to Iles du Salut twice, which is the main island in the group.  The first time was on Noordam III in 1999 (pre-digital) and the second was in 2006 on the old Regal Princess.  Interestingly, while most ships' itineraries list the port as Devil's Island, none of us have actually set foot on that island.  It is the smallest of the three islands, and is uninhabited.  It is forbidden for any visitors to go there, and the waters around the island are too dangerous for ships or tenders to dock.  Only the worst, most dangerous prisoners were kept on Devil's Island.

Today in history was not a good day for Napoleon Bonaparte.

@grapau27  Welcome home, Graham and Pauline.  I figured you were away from home, but did not guess you had crossed the pond.

@Crazy For Cats  Jake, it is way to early for Christmas wreaths or any decorations.  We need to get through Halloween and Thanksgiving first.  I think this sums it up well.

@RedneckBob RNB, I too became proficient in Roman numerals, but in my case it was because the Spanish language and I did not work well together.

A vegan crunch wrap might be OK with me. French 75 was the drink of the day on May 12, 2022:

For a Pinot Noir, there are lots of Finger Lakes choices. Maybe Fulkerson, which I think is the 2019 vintage. I haven't been to French Guiana, or to St. Helena, unless you count the one in California.

I was starting to feel feverish at bedtime last night, but any fever was gone by this morning. My arm hurts a little. What is worse is that every joint hurts, possibly an arthritic reaction to the vaccine but more likely caused by the cold, damp weather.

This is what I posted on September 13, 2021 and July 19, 2023.

We've been to Devil's Island twice.  The first time was in 1999 on Noordam III and the second was in 2006 on the old Regal Princess.  The 1999 pictures are pre-digital, so these are from 2006.  You cannot actually visit Devil's Island, the smallest of the three islands.  It was the isolation camp for a handful of political prisoners.  The main prison was on Salvation Island.  The third island is Isle Royal.

Good morning, everyone!

It is a gloomy day here in mid-Michigan.  I think it will be a good day to work on my quilt.  I was informed that my sister needed a new quilt for her bed to go with the room decor here in the house.  And, that I needed to make a quilt for the bed in River's room.  And so, I sew.  We have appointments today for our Covid booster and flu shot.  I'm expecting sore arms tomorrow.

Today's meal is more of a technique in cooking rather than the filling you put in.  If you're not enamored with the vegan filling, add in what you want.  The trick is in the wrapping, so take a good look at the pictures in this recipe.   https://pinchofyum.com/vegan-crunchwrap

They look pretty good to me!

This one has a lot of suggestions on what you can use as a filling.  The novelty of this dish is frying the wrapped tortilla and getting it nice and crunchy so that you have the crunchy texture when you bite into it.  https://www.kathysvegankitchen.com/cruchwrap-supreme/

For the carnivores, here is one with a meat filling.  https://www.spendwithpennies.com/copycat-crunchwrap-supreme/
