Thank you for today's daily reports.

It is cloudy and 43°F here at 10.56am.

Our clocks went back 1 hour last week.

Good quote and nice food today.

Never been to today's port.

Interesting days in history.

I hope everyone is safe and well and y'all have a nice day.

Good morning dailyites as we cruise into St Kitts.  Thank you for the Daily Report.

We had a good dinner last night.  I had the Lasagna with extra sauce and Suzi had the spaghetti with bolognese sauce.

I have two items to share, but we are getting ready to have breakfast and then go to the island so I will update later.

I will be the usual professional bag handler this morning as the ladies shop. 😀

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good morning friends!  Slightly warmer at 38F this morning, while expecting 71 and more sunshine!  Beautiful daytime weather here.  Isn't it @SusieKIslandGirl who was going to her DS's house in Atlanta for a week?  Except for cold nighttime temps for a bit she is having wonderful weather and I hope she enjoys her weeklong visit to Georgia

.

Thank you Rich @richwmn for our Fleet Report and Daily. It's not easy keeping track of all the ship movements with so many changes due to weather and war zones.  I like all the days of celebration today.  Candy (especially chocolate), community service and using my common sense all sound good.  The quote is okay and the chicken pot pie sounds pretty good during this fall weather.  Another fancy mojito today and I'm not sure about the wine.  Goodness!  So much history on this date!  Can you imagine taking 5 1/2 months to get from Missouri to California?  And I know it was grueling.  I'm glad it wasn't me going back then.  Hooray for the patent on refrigeration apparatus and it was a big day in archeology.  Thanks to Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for their reports on food and beverage again today.

Prayers for all our Israeli and Ukrainian citizens, my family and friends in need of them, and everyone here suffering pain and other medical conditions.  Especially Vanessa, Tana and Baby Murphy.  Three cheers for the Celebration list and all our cruisers!  I hope Terry @smitty34877 her family and friends have a wonderful day at Lou's memorial and the celebration of his life.  Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for keeping the lists updated for us even through all your pain.

DGS Ren is in Minneapolis for a soccer game today.  They fly home tonight.  Both parents flew in for the game of course.  Hope they are dressed warmly and FC Dallas wins.  Also hoping no players are injured and safe flights for them all.

Port of the day is Horta, Azores, Portugal. Apparently it's on Faial Island.  The two times we had it before were on Aug. 27, 2021 and Aug. 2, 2022.  Links are provided below for your convenience in obtaining photos.  Thankfully my photos were still there!  We were there only once on the Prinsendam Grand Med and Africa cruise, spring of 2018.

Don't forget to change your clocks back 1 hour tonight before bedtime.  Have a great Saturday everyone!

We enjoyed a fabulous day in Horta in April 2018 while on our Grand Med. and Africa cruise on the Prinsendam.  So many great ports!  The weather was perfect, thank goodness.  And for the final segment of the cruise we had our very special master of the ship, Captain D. D.

As I said, we arrived on a beautiful morning and were allowed to dock, no tendering needed.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLaoFmabHqxnkUzNon_bqBX?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526136760

I swear that looks like DH walking towards me down by the pool.  Could have been.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLbMZ2u2jH0eMytRt0TZSN3?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526136790

The Azores has beautiful scenic hillsides like this.  I love observing the cows grazing - so peaceful.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIs-S_on9KLD2levLir7JXT?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526136811

Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.

A cloudy day in store for us, we may get up to 9°C (48°F) this afternoon.  We still have lots of leaves to rake but at least the snow is gone (for now).

Daylight saving time ends tonight, I wish it would stay that way forever, or stay on daylight saving, I hate the switch.

Three great days - I love candy, we should all do some community service, common sense is useful, but rare in some individuals.

I like the quote.

The meal sounds good, hope the drink and wine are wonderful too.

Prayers for many.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a great day.

There were some girls dancing in what looked like an outdoor recital right out on the street.  People were gathered across the street lounging on a lawn to watch.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLgothNAXkSzLrtkWtPdFxD?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526085143

Captain D. D. saw us standing up there and asked us to meet him outside the Crow's Nest.  We did and he asked if we would like to have dinner in Canaletto the following night.  He also said we could bring our tablemates George and Sandy.  Of course we accepted!  He set the time at 7:00 pm the following night.  Later while we were dining he walked into the dining room and came over to our table to tell us he forgot about a meeting he had scheduled and could we make it at 7:30 pm instead?  We all said no problem, Captain!  You should have seen waiter Riris's face when the Captain walked away!  He came over with eyes wide and said "What was that about??"  Oh, just a little change in dinner plans.  By the way we won't be here for dinner tomorrow night, Riris!😅

One more thing, we were celebrating Kings Day that day and here is the cake they prepared as well as our monkeys with the orange wigs.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJHhFyjLxHbOI_Jin4RKn_A?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526137436

Thanks for our Saturday Daily, Rich

and thanks to Dixie, Debbie, Vanessa & Ann.

The end of DST is upon us

Lots of left over candy that I’ve been finding new homes for.  I used my common sense early this morning (story follows).  Community Service should be celebrated every day.

Oh I like today’s quote.  Makes me feel a lot less guilty 😉 😂

IMG_1151.thumb.jpeg.14f14afe26e1dbf6775487111199ba42.jpeg

It’s not warm enough for the drink of the day but it certainly is cold enough for chicken pot pie 😉 Faial Island is beautiful like all of the islands in the Azores.  I’ve always enjoyed the story of Howard Carter’s great discovery and so appreciated it when I was able to see them decades ago 👍

IMG_1071.jpeg.5c26172841695d56f3556fca2be08af0.jpeg

It was absolutely brutal yesterday on the walk.  I had on gloves, my snood (bought in Cobh), heavy coat and still felt that miserable wind.  The wind must have been very strong based on what happened.

IMG_1149.thumb.jpeg.bd0f0a8d804e7a03088bd1a23619827b.jpeg

Put Ivan out this morning to do his business and he didn’t come running right back per normal.  I got the flashlight and went out to look and no Ivan and saw the metal gate for the side entrance open.

I tore out front with the flashlight calling Ivan’s name with no idea how I would possibly find him in the pitch dark.  He started to come but hesitated.  I told him “home” and he tore to the front door, thank heavens.  That sure woke me up.

IMG_1148.jpeg.479f0301b216faa79a9077b1bc654c3b.jpeg

I am guessing the guys working on the leaves didn’t shut it tight and the high wind blew it open with it not secured.  I have always taught my dogs “home” and never had to use it before until today.  So glad I did.  Whew!  No idea how many neighbours were up to see this crazy lady wandering around the yard in the dark in her housecoat with a flashlight.  That’s enough excitement for me for today, thank you.

IMG_1223.thumb.jpeg.af16a87018aa351e6217e269bdc4f6ef.jpeg

Prayers for those on the Care list, those suffering losses, health issues, worries & those that need them. 🙏. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising 🥂

Thank you for today’s FR & D, Rich!  Another cool morning & the clouds and breeze are back. We actually had a 10 minute downpour yesterday as well as a couple of brief showers. But not enough, so I will have to add water to the pool.

Vanessa, praying that you get some relief from the pain. Thank you for all you do.

This morning is our monthly beach clean up, I can’t imagine what the wild surf and and strong winds brought ashore over the past month. Then Bindi walks, chores & wrapping up with dinner at a friend’s. I am bringing the salad & wine.

@HAL Sailer Melissa, praying for you & your DH. Don’t forget you.

Cheers to all who are celebrating. @dfish Debbie, in honor of you joining Dixie & Sharon on that cruise to Hawaii - I give you this…

Marchese di Borgosole Brindisi Riserva DOC 2019

This dry, full bodied red from Southern Italy has lots of consumer fans. I used the 2019 vintage info, since that might be easiest to find. Not sure if I have ever had a “crunchy” wine before, so I just might have to try it. Widely available; reasonably priced. Online prices start at $12.99.

James Suckling – Aromas of figs, chilis, mocha, cloves and incense. It’s medium-bodied with chewy tannins. Crunchy and textured in the mouth with a dusty feel. Fruity with fine tannin on the finish.

Good morning. Another wonderful dinner in the Grill last night. The following Detroit Sounds show by the ship’s cast last night was perfectly executed and choreographed. Many of the guest who attended Broadway shows on our overnight in. New York commented they are just as good or better than the performers on Broadway. Unfortunately that was their last show as a group as their contract ends in Miami.

This sea day is jammed packed with activities such as trivia, lectures. We need to use up some OBC so may book a spa visit.

Time for some coffee. @JazzyVDo pray you get some pain relief. Rich thanks for your loyal and timely start to the Daily.

Feeling a little ship movement this morning.

Have a great Saturday everyone. Bruce

Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann for the Saturday report.  Keeping us on our toes today, Rich.  Nieuw Amsterdam is in Fort Lauderdale, not Split.  I think the Nieuw Statendam either is in Split today or was yesterday.

Three great days to celebrate today, and I will celebrate an earlier sunrise tomorrow morning.  I love the quote.

Great discovery of King Tut's tomb and refrigeration was a very welcome invention.

I don't think I have been to Horta and I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Canaletto Spaghetti Pomodoro, Braised Chicken Cacciatore "Al Forno" and Pistacio Gelato as served in MS Prinsendam's Canaletto November 4, 2017:

Wdishes05.jpg

With just 2 sleeps at home before 2 total nights on the auto train, 9 nights in 5 hotels and 12 nights on the Rotterdam I am now in panic packing mode.

Good Morning, thanks for the daily fleet report.  Today promises to be a nice and “warm” day.  Today’s agenda includes a Target run, leaf raking and hopefully dining out.  @summer slope I hope I remember this drink the next time on a dam ship, it sounds good to me.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds if it’s pot pie and not just a chicken pie, being Pennsylvania Dutch there is a difference.  I hope everyone has a good day today.

Diving must be popular here because we saw several diving shops.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJUj17ZqXHpWeIQmWJMhhoo?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526136875

Across the water from this spot on the marina is the highest point in Portugal, Pico Island.  That is a volcano named Ponta do Pico.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKVf6U6OVHs0j57NJYjUUES?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526136909

Next we headed towards this old fortress, the Fort of Santa Cruz.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVL7iY_fP5_O8ll4xy9362TU?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526085133

Thank you Rich, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work. And thank you everyone for being here!

Sam is pretty good about letting us sleep. Most of the time though I am up early and so is he. This is his kind of weather now going below freezing (21degrees the other morning!) so just spends the day in the yard.

Stay Safe, and prayers for those in need.

- Jack

There were some girls dancing in what looked like an outdoor recital right out on the street.  People were gathered across the street lounging on a lawn to watch.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLgothNAXkSzLrtkWtPdFxD?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526085143

We were headed back towards the ship now and would soon come upon a small park.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJWOWAermzR9JinpceQcYmT?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526085310

They had a very nicely done esplanade along the shore.  Great for viewing the ships.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLCTK2dMUli-_YvyDVJKWkw?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526137243

At 4:50 pm we pulled away and began our journey across the Atlantic to Bermuda.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVK7FXP6-j5fTevT7ra4PAOY?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1526137399

Captain D. D. saw us standing up there and asked us to meet him outside the Crow's Nest.

Captain Dag, another great one.

Good morning from a chilly, cloudy Boston.  Thanks for the daily report.  Candy is worth celebrating today as is community service.  It’s nice to have a day devoted to common sense.  As a newly retired, I can appreciate the quote.  The meal and drink sound good to me.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list it’s nice to hear of the improvements with some.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events.  Don’t forget to turn your clocks back.

It is disappointing to miss Cadiz (excursion to Sevilla where there is a place run by my friend Lillas Pastia), Lisbon, and Funchal. I have looked before at itineraries including the Canary Islands but didn’t really want to visit them this year.

Last night had a gala dinner menu but it didn’t feel exceptional to me, and the service was exceptional but not in a good way - that is, exceptionally mixed up. One person at our table waited so long for a New York strip steak that I thought they were sending to New York for it. I had lunch today in the PG and it was as good as dinner on embarkation night.
