Good morning, Dailyites!  Thanks for all the news.  So exciting to be leaving for long cruises.  We are about to cancel our next.  I keep putting it off, but it must be done.  Our cleaning lady is coming today after a break for carpal tunnel surgery, so Pat is vacuuming, I have no idea why.

We have a very confused snowdrop blooming in my little flower bed.   The sky was really red when I got up at 6:30, but Pat says the rain isn't due until tomorrow.  I slept so well last night.  I had been a member of the "Sleepless in (you name it)" for so long, I had forgotten how nice it is to wake up rested.  I'm not feeling all that energetic, but I did go to exercise this morning.  Now I must go and tidy up a bit for the cleaning lady.

Good morning. Will come back later to catch up. Got an email from Luggage Forward this morning and evidently they have been told about Durango. The are changing my pickup time tomorrow to between 6am and 5pm. Oh goody!!! And...... it is snowing. Weatherman says snow, rain mixed with snow and more snow between now and tomorrow morning. Yipe. LF says if there are problems with the timing on the pickup I can take it to one of two dropoff points. Oh sure. An 86 year old lady is going to haul 2 suitcases through the snow. So, now to finish and lock up the suitcases and pray it does not snow too much. Our driveway is not easy in bad weather.

Maybe you can get someone to help you get them to the pickup today before it gets to bad outside.

I think the bags are locked.  Is there a porch or something you can leave them on?

Our PCC just called to let us know that the HAL Platinum cancellation protection could no longer be sold to BC residents.  She was astonished to hear that we already knew about it from CC !  While I had her on the line, I cancelled our Spring cruise, boo hoo.

Happy Anniversary @grapau27.  Not a fan of cocoa and prefer violins in groups rather than solo.  I have been to St Loucia twice, I think RCI in 2012 and Crystal in 2018.

I have disembarked twice in Dubai, Silver Whisper in 2008 and Queen Elizabeth in 2010.  I was waitlisted to board Amsterdam there for the final segment of the 2021 World cruise but never cleared the waitlist and of course the cruise was cancelled anyway.

The Dumas quote is so true.  3 interesting days in history and I'll celebrate the World Court.

I'll pass on the Falafel.  My alternative is Chilled Pineapple and Cucumber soup, Duck Breast a l'orange, and Pineapple Crisp as served on MS Prinsendam December 13, 2013.

I was generally pleased with the Cardiology visit.  It sounds like my symptoms are largely gone and she cancelled my January Echo based on the hospital and my next regular visit is now the end of February with lab tests in 3 months.  She did change my meds somewhat including a relatively expensive one but it is manageable.

Wishing @RMLincoln an uneventful flight.

Good morning.  Prayers for those in need — which seem to be many this year.  Thoughts for a good end of semester for 2 college age family members who have been raised Jewish.  I do pray that all goes well for them — we are living in a crazy world right now.

We do indeed live in a crazy world, sadly 😔. I hope all goes well for them 🤞

DH Bill had a doctors appointment yesterday that went very well.  Bloodwork results were very positive.  Yay!

Excellent news !

My sister and I are seriously considering moving to Canada in a couple of years. We want to settle in the Maritimes as we loved it so much when we visited two years ago. I have been looking at houses to get a feel as to what is out there, and I like what I see.

Go for it!  Other than a few cities, housing is very reasonable here and your dollar is worth substantially more than ours.  More importantly, Maritimes are very nice, kind and friendly people overall 😊

They said they could try and patch it but it had a sidewall crack.  So they put the spare on and I will go today to get a new tire after my 2 appts today.  I think I hit a curb and that is what did it.  If it is not one thing, it is another.  Oh, well.

Sorry to hear this Pennie.  Fair warning… you might need to replace 2 tires.  At least way back when one of our tires went we were told it was unsafe to just replace the one tire since the opposite would not be the same and we ended up having to buy 2 tires.  Hope that is not the case for you.

I am keeping my fingers crossed I have an acceptable plan for my back.  I have gone down this road twice before - one an emergency, which I don't want this to become.  We will see.

I am praying for a good plan for your back 🙏

@kazuI'll certainly keep your DBIL's mother in my heart; which is it - Bill or Roman's mother?  Prayers to your sister as well as she stays by her side.

Thanks.  It’s Roman’s mother who is in the hospital.

I really need to talk to his main doc at his next appointment.  A lot of the extra sleeping is due to depression, and perhaps the cancer.  This time of year is hard on him.

That’s a very good idea.  I hope Chuck can improve or, that at least his doctor can help him 🙏

John's shingles are a thing of the past other than the red dots from where the blisters were but he has been sick for the last three days.  I encouraged him to utilize one of our many Covid tests but he hasn't.  Cannot herd cats.  He has been taking so much cold medicine he sleeps a lot thankfully I could sleep well as he wasn't snoring.   Usually I catch everything that comes along but so far just a last few sneezes and having to use my rescue inhaler once.   I hope I have dodged whatever he is suffering from.

So glad to hear that John has fully recovered from his shingles.  What a shame he is sick.  I hope he recovers quickly and you keep dodging it.  🤞

LF didn’t say your pick up would be cancelled, right?  Just that if there was a problem with timing (I assume for you) that you could drop it off?  To me, that means they are still obligated to come and pick up your luggage.   Can you just put the luggage on the porch for them to pick up?

Talked to my handyman who also plows my driveway. He will see it is done early morning if needed, but he also says he will come get my luggage tomorrow if need be and get it out to drop-off. Getting up to have it out by 6 is not a problem.... I am usually up about 5:30 and will set the alarm. Actually will haul it down the stairs to just inside the front door tonight - then I don's have to wake my downstairs neighbor bumping down the steps before dawn. It will be what it will be I guess. I guess they are responsible if they fail to pick it up, but I don't want to find out. Living in Durango can get pretty interesting sometimes.... we seem to march to a different drummer.

Thank you Roy.

I'm pleased you got a good cardiologist report today.

We went out for dinner tonight.

Pauline had salmon and I had a Rib eye steak and we both had a banoffe cheesecake for dessert washed down with a bottle of Marlborough New Zealand Sauvignon blanc.

A quick good afternoon.  I'm making headway on the cookies, but there are still many more to go.  I do have 24 completely finished, and another 24 will be finished as soon as the icing on the first part sets.  Another will be done soon after that, I hope.  It is strange doing them this way, instead doing the main "coating" of icing on all of them, then adding the finishing touches.  Since it is so dry here, I hope doing them this way keeps them from drying out and getting hard before I can put them in the containers.  Maybe this way, I'll feel like I've accomplished more as more and more are finished.

@Denise T  Denise, I hope things work out and you can move to Canada for a couple of years or more.  We've always found the Canadians we've met on our travels there to be friendly and helpful.

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

3 good days. I like the quote. I've never eaten falafel. Maybe on the drink and pass on the wine. I haven't been to Dubai. 2 good days in history.

It's cold here, 31F, but sunny. Yesterday was very taxing for me in terms of pain. Plus the last appointment the PA was running almost an hour late. I was concerned that it would get dark, and I don't drive hardly at all after dark. But since it was just local and not highways, it wasn't too bad. I picked up the new med after that. So far no effect (I wasn't expecting any), and I'm very sleepy. I don't have to go anywhere, so I'll try to take a nap, if my leg allows.

@rafinmd I hope your appointment goes well.

@StLouisCruisers Very nice photos from Dubai. Condolences on the loss of your cousin.

@grapau27 Happy CC Anniversary!

@Lady Hudson Good news about DH Bill's bloodwork.

@kazu I'm sorry to hear of the illness of DBIL's DM. Prayers that she passes the gallstones. Lovely amaryllis.

@Denise T I hope all will work out if you want to move to Canada.

@Nickelpenny That must have been interesting working in Dubai. Sorry about the tire. Good luck with the appointment today.

@RedneckBob Thanks for the photos. Enjoy snorkeling. Hope you're not in trouble with your DW !

@marshhawk I'm sorry Chuck is having a hard time.

@ottahand7 Good news John's shingles are done, but sorry he's got something else.

@RMLincoln Safe travels today.

Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

Vanessa, I hope the new medicine begins to help soon.

I'm roasting a head of romanesco. It's so pretty that usually I would want to cook it another way, but it was reaching the point at which all of it needed to be cooked, not just the amount I would steam for one meal. It's harder than cauliflower to separate into florets.

Good afternoon from cool and sunny Hamilton Ontario. Hope everyone is well.we are getting ready for Christmas here and it has been unseasonably warm. Suffering from post cruise depression. Have to make my own breakfast and there’s no Ardy to tidy up my dishes. He was great. My father in law has been in hospital since last week with Covid so we are busy with visits. He wants to leave the hospital lol.
I love the Amaryllis plant, so pretty.

Good afternoon from a sunny but colder day in Wisconsin. The weather peeps are saying we may not get a white Christmas...that's ok with me, we have an elderly relative to transport, and snow makes it trickier for her.  Thanks for all of the info here.  We had Felafel when we were in Bethlehem...I don't remember if I liked, it or not!

@rafinmdgood to hear that you had a good report at the Cardiologist today.

@RMLincolnsafe travels, and have fun at the wedding!

@grapau27your food porn looks yummy!

@JazzyVhoping you get some relief from your pain soon.

Have a good evening, I'm working on some more cookies now.  Karen

Sorry I hit quote I didn't intend to.  John took a covid test and he was negative. At least he is sitting in his easy chair by instead of sleeping.   I got three batches of cookies completed and only need to do fruit bars tomorrow then I can plate them up and deliver them Friday. Using three brand new recipes pulled off the Internet they all turned out great.

My blood work came back and my low red blood cells have continued to drop from my test in April. I need another trip to PCP office for them to draw blood for B12 and Folate, probably on Friday, thankfully the results come back quickly.

Good afternoon everyone,

I was able to get out in the garden and do a lot of clean-up.  Kind of silly, I know, since there will be storms making a mess this winter while we're gone, but I feel better knowing it looks good before we leave. And it just felt good to be doing something outside after all the rain we've had.

Meanwhile, DH has gotten all the bags and one box all ready for Luggage Forward tomorrow.  I doubt they'll show up at 10, probably more likely 5 after we've sat home all day.  But that feels good too, to have everything ready to go.

Roy @rafinmd I'm happy you got a good report from the cardiologist!

Susan @durangoscots That's great that your handyman is helping out and being extra "handy"!  Yay!

Maureen @RMLincoln Safe travels

@Niagarawine I'm sorry your father in law is in the hospital with Covid.  Prayers for a full recovery.
