Good morning friends!  It's 54F this morning and we will see partly cloudy skies and a high near 80.

Thank you Roy @rafinmd for the great fleet location maps, and Rich @richwmn for the content of the Fleet Report and Daily.  We can celebrate John James Audubon and the Audubon Society today.  I know several Australians but don't think I will be able to hug them anytime soon.  Something we won't forget but should remember is the Chernobyl disaster and hope something like that never happens again.  A fun quote, and a nice dish for salmon lovers.  The drink sounds nice but we shall see what's involved in it later.  No idea about the wine so will have to wait for an explanation.  The first modern cargo ship in 1956 sounds like a big advancement in trade.  Thanks today to Debbie @dfish or Tina @0106 for the meal, Paul @kochleffel for the cocktail and Ann @cat shepard for the wine information.

Prayers for all our Daily friends in need of them.  Special prayers for Tana and Terry @smitty34877 and for Maureen and Richard @RMLincoln as they mourn the loss of their SIL.  Also for my DB, Linda, great nephew Alex's twins and my dear friends.  And many prayers for the people of Israel and Ukraine, the hostages still held, and the U.S. troops on bases and at sea in the region. 🙏

Cheers to all celebrating happy events like birthdays and anniversaries, cruises or good news!  Roy @rafinmd congrats on your PSA numbers declining again, and safe travels to Debbie @dfish!  Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for today's Care and Celebration lists.  I hope sleeping in the recliner gets you more sleep and am happy about how much more comfortable you are since the surgery.🙂

The port of today is Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.  An excellent day to hug our Australian friends!  Hobart was port of the day on January 4, 2022 and Feb. 23, 2023.  I'll post those links for you, then post some of the delightful photos I took in Hobart and surrounding areas.

Hope everyone enjoys their Friday, and stays safe and well!

We enjoyed visiting Hobart twice in 2013 on Diamond Princess and twice in 2017 on Sun Princess.

I'll show a couple different things we did in Hobart.  One time a fellow CC friend rented a car and invited us along to visit the Tahune Airwalk, where you get an aerial view of the forest.  They have metal walkways high in the tree canopy and Tasmania has some of the tallest trees in the world.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKC9il1LSmHLrBJExEyoDYP?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1388705570

When on the ground you sometimes faced obstacles but they had found a way to let us pass.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLXIRpLs8aGS7BdwrSMcQ6i?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1388705625

After the forest walk we ate lunch at a small restaurant, and drove back to Hobart.

The second time in Hobart on this Diamond Princess cruise in 2013, we got off the ship and walked through the town.  It's quite nice and easily walkable.

In 2017 on Sun Princess we visited two times.  The first time we made a beeline for the Hobart Botanical Park.  The second time we walked the town again.  You can always find new things to see if you just turn in the opposite direction!

Across from the harbor is City Hall, a beautiful building IMO.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKACP9MXOWAQIpQoVJUcf_M?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1513559365

Along the path we took to the Garden, we passed Government House, home of the Governor of Tasmania.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVK-jQKIvzIKNYsQdRm7PLX_?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1513559453

The Botanical Gardens abutted the Government House property which must have been nice to see the gardens while strolling the grounds.

Here are the gates to the Botanical park.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKJIl9vnSOIfzyN_Ms4umQC?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1513559504

It’s 13:35 and a few minutes before Muster Drill. Here’s what it looks like which is usually a pretty active Deck Five. I love the wood decor on this ship.

Must get ready for muster. Later.

Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte.

It’s 65 this AM heading up to a warm 87 with the usual sunny skies.

Good selection of days.

Some chuckles with the quote by Mel Brooks who is one funny guy, his Young Frankenstein is my favorite movie comedy of all time.

Not sure about the meal.

My Tampa Bay Lightning are toast as they have lost the first 3 games of their playoff series against the Florida Panthers, the Bolts need a miracle.

Today is our last Men’s Golf Assn. Tournament of the season. Most of the Snowbirds have already headed north with only a few still here. Traffic has thinned out and the restaurants aren’t as crowded, hallelujah!

Have a great day and stay well.

Good morning Dailyites and thank you for the Daily Report.

Sorry, I didn't post anything yesterday. I was solving issues at work most of the day.

I hope everyone here has a wonderful weekend!

The photo below is not cruise-worthy. However, it is a beautiful bridge in southern Georgia that always makes me smile when I see it and drive over it. 🙂

Your photos bring back memories of our Greek Island cruise from Istanbul to Athens on the R 1 in 1999 which was one of 8 identical ships built by Renaissance Cruise Line, not sure if you are sailing on the original R 1 but the ship looks like it has held up extremely well after 25 years.

Nice collection of days, if I encounter an Aussie I shall hug them, pass on the quote & meal, maybe try the drink & wine (I'll decide once the info is posted), not been to the port. Big day in history.

Thanks @StLouisCruisers for the great pictures. The gardens look beautiful.

Thanks @aliaschief for the pictures - I agree the wood on your ship is beautiful. Hope you have a safe, wonderful detour around Africa.

@seagarsmoker that picture is gorgeous!

Grocery delivery is scheduled for 7-8 this morning, just beating the rain. I'm excited to receive raspberries that are on sale; I don't usually get fresh items when I buy online, but they were a really good deal and I knew I would not go to the store after DH gets home from work. That's my big excitement for the day - raspberries!! And my to do list for today - put away the groceries. Some days that's enough of a list.

Currently 73° headed to rainy 81°, not raining yet but should start around 9 and rain all week w/a break on Mon.

Prayers 🙏 and positive thoughts for all.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.

Another cold morning, it's 0°C but it should be a sunny 17°C (63°F) this afternoon.  Maybe winter is finally over. 🤞

Three good days to celebrate.

A funny quote from a funny man.   @MISTER 67 I agree Young Frankenstein was a very funny movie, DH loves Blazing Saddles.

Not sure about the meal, drink or wine, I'll wait until I see recipes and descriptions.

I've never been to today's port.  @StLouisCruisers Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Prayers for everyone on the Care List.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a wonderful Friday.

Good morning to all.

Thank you to Sandi, Roy, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie for all you do to keep the Daily and Fleet Report going.

Interesting Days to remember and the quote is funny.

i will pass on the food and drink today and I have not been to the destination.

Yesterday was a much better day for us and that made life around here much calmer.  We needed that.  We never got to Costco on Wednesday as planned so we will try to do that today.

@RMLincoln Maureen, my condolences on the passing of your DSIL.  Glad all went well with DH’s procedure yesterday.

@smitty34877 Terry, prayers for you and Tana and your family.  Glad you had some help with your NH family and some time visiting with them.

@ger_77 prayers for your DH

@JazzyV Vanessa, I am thrilled that you have pain relief after your surgery.

@rafinmd Roy, looks like the medical report is trending in the right direction.  A good thing.

@grapau27 Graham, thanks for the explanation of our days to celebrate.

Cheeers to all celebrating and cruising.

Hoping all have a wonderful day.

God Bless,

Terri

Good morning. It is a chilly start at 38 degrees and going up to 58 or so. All three days should be celebrated, the recipe will be a good one and I have not been to the port. Mel Brooks has always made me laugh.

i am sad to say goodbye to my DS and family.  Their  visit has been so helpful. It was nice to see the DGC’s  and the teenager get along so well.

@RMLincoln, Maureen , condolences to you and the family on the loss of your DSIL. I am very happy your DH was able to drive. Amazing!

Enjoy the day everyone.

Happy Friday! Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports.

After a freeze warning this morning, temperatures will head up to the 60s. The next several days will be in the 70s and 80s. The sub is expected to be out today, so I intend to be outside as well. No clients today but I will be finishing up grading assignment and then I will head off for a nice massage.

Happy birthday to @dfish.

Thank you for today’s FR & D, Sandi! Roy thank you for our maps! Another gorgeous morning in paradise. I believe one of this year’s fawns is waiting for Bindi and I to come out. This is the third morning in a row that the little one has been on one side of the house or the other. It is very curios about Bindi. Ooh, I am currently being entertained by three of this year’s fawns zooming around the yard!

Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with us! So happy to read that the discomfort is from the incision and not leg pain or numbness. And you are sleeping a decent number of hours! May the discomfort go away and the sleep hours grow longer.

Gym, Bindi walks, lots of chores. Hosting dinner for friends tonight. It will be perfect for sitting outside to eat.

Prayers for all who need our support. Those suffering from pain, debilitating conditions, the loss of a loved one, trauma.  The caregivers.

@RMLincoln Maureen, my condolences on the passing of your DSIL. I hope wonderful memories help ease the pain of her passing.

Terry, thinking of you & Tana. So happy you had a little rest.

Cheers to all who are celebrating! Maureen, how wonderful that Richard drove part of the way - after only two days!

@dfish  May your trip to Ohio go smoothly. And may your new year be filled with laughter, love, great health and a cruise or two!

Segura Viudas Reserva Heredad

This Cava from Spain has a lot of consumer fans. It is fairly easy to find. Online prices start at $24.98.

Winemaker’s notes

Reserva Heredad is the estate’s crown jewel—our tête de cuvée—a Cava blended from just Macabeo and Parellada that enjoys aging on the lees for 30 months or longer and riddling by hand.

REGION
Catalunya, Spain
APPELLATION
D.O. Penedès
GRAPE
Blend of 75% Macabeo; 25% Chardonnay
VINIFICATION
From grape to glass it takes three years to produce a bottle of Reserva Heredad. The grapes are 100% hand harvested and transported to the winery in 25kg boxes to prevent oxidation. The must comes from the free run juice which is the lightest pressing of the grapes. The first fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled low temperature between 57 and 61°F, to retain the primary aromas of the grapes. The blend is made up of nine different wines, each one vinified in separate tanks. Macabeo is the dominant grape in Reserva Heredad, contributing acidity and freshness. It also allows the wine to age well, during the 30 plus months it is in contact with the lees. Both the first and the second fermentations are carried out using our own selected yeast strains. These give structure, softness on the palate, more complex aromas of honey, dried fruit, and flowers. The riddling or turning of all the bottles of Reserva Heredad is done by hand.
AGING
The wine is aged 30+ months.
AROMA
Lightly smoky opening aromas with touches of biscuit and hints of honey and flower petals.
PALATE
The palate is excellent, fruity, and full of flavor, delivering a delightful sense of abundance.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
Pairs well with: creamy pasta and filet mignon. Also stunning as a holiday gift.

Happy Audubon Day 🐦, Happy Arbor Day 🌳and Happy Birthday @dfish🎂!

Salmon is a type of fish that is not only delicious but also incredibly healthy. It is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and a variety of vitamins and minerals. Consuming salmon on a regular basis can provide a wide range of health benefits, including reducing the risk of heart disease, improving brain function, and supporting overall wellness.

There are many different types of salmon — specifically, five types of Pacific salmon and two types of Atlantic salmon. Atlantic salmon is typically farmed, while Pacific salmon species are primarily wild-caught. Wild-caught Pacific salmon are typically considered to be the healthiest salmon.

Eating Well: Salmon Power Bowl, you'll get protein and a healthy dose of omega-3s from salmon, antioxidants from shredded cabbage, and plenty of fiber from farro. (You could sub quinoa or riced cauliflower.) Cumin and coriander flavor the salmon, while a fresh herb dressing coats the veggies.

Salmon Power Bowls with lemon tahini sauce  I like the roasted sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts and parsnips in this recipe. The lemon tahini dressing sounds delicious too.

I noticed a Teriyaki Salmon Bowl  on the Volendam MDR lunch menu posted by @richwmnso I thought I would include a recipe. The salmon  is cooked in the air fryer (or grill/oven), set on top of a bed of rice, and topped with avocado, cucumber, mango, edamame, green onions, and cilantro.
