Things that you are happy Celebrity has introduced since you first started sailing.

Recommended Posts

A counter to the "what Celebrity has done away with", always fair to look at both.

1.  The perks, depending on the sailing, sometimes they actually are "free".  My 4 night Infinity cruise was $500 for Aqua, felt like the cruise was free.

OK....Nice idea to have ‘balance’ re posts.

We do love the sweet, suite life...As we have got older we have spent more time on board and less time doing excursions. It is nice to enjoy a big ship but then have a nice lounge, restaurant and higher level of service available. We are looking forward to trying the Retreat deck too.

Drinks packages....We are among those who probably barely break even with the package but there are two aspects of it we really like....Firstly we know on boarding that we will not have a big bill at the end. Secondly, we are far more experimental with a drinks package, we will try new cocktails and wines whereas without a drinks package we would stick with ‘tried and trusted’...

That's the sweet suite life! But I'm afraid that's something for those being able to book suites and I'm happy for you to enjoy the perks. On the other hand I sorely miss the spaces taken away from loyal customers  like Michael's Club , Crow's nest, Sun decks. So I'm afraid to say that even though it's a great idea to have a thread about the positive new things introduced it's much more difficult to find anything compared to the things taken away.

Think positive! This is supposed to be a +ve thread....

We are so glad we have discovered the sky suite experience for about the same price we would spend for a veranda on an Oceania ship, a vista suite (veranda) on a HAL ship or a club mini-suite on Princess. In fact we are on a Crystal Symphony cruise right now and are finding it difficult to see where Crystal out shines the X suite experience, which of course on X includes dining in the Luminae.

As it stands right now, the Crystal buffet is the only category Crystal leads in from our point of view. In most other categories X is equal to or better than Crystal, although Crystal does have a nice movie theater they show 1-2 movies in every day.

But since we have only been cruising with X since 2013, we have no idea what they were like before then.

AQ class with BLU, thermal suite access and daily bottled water.  Water was taken away  but may be back on some ships, ? ( maybe to use up old stock?,)

AQ CLass  is getting pricey and BLU less wonderful  at times but still a good value if you can get a decent fare!

Breakfast in BLU is excellent and we enjoy the menu most nights!

Since we started sailing the biggest positive for us is Luminae when we sail suites.  Also technology has improved greatly and WiFi has gone from awful previously to pretty good now on most ships (excellent on Edge).  The technology improvement allows WiFi Calling and free texting so communication to our friends and family has gone from very expensive (remember $7 per min phone calls?) to very easy and inexpensive.  More and better channels on stateroom TVs and direct reviewing of your account instead of waiting at guest services.  Elimination of wasted printed photos and introduction of e-photos instead.  Another positive (for us anyway) is Formal changed to Chic nights.  Muster drills inside without lugging life jackets instead of standing in rows on the crowded life boat deck. Much more variety in the buffet with international foods and vegetarian dishes.  Elimination of smoking from balconies and from the casino.  I could go on but will leave that to others.

We liked two (2) things.

1. No smoking on the balcony and no smoking on the ship. Except in designated smoking areas.

2. We also liked their luggage valet service. On the last night of your cruise, Celebrity will pick up your luggage and delivered it to your airline.  Your luggage is on the plane without you doing anything.

We don’t travel in suites, but the enhancements for those who pay for them do not bother me.  I like any time dining, Elite Plus perks and the improved buffet experience.

The smoke free balconies encouraged us to book them again after a really bad experience when we couldn’t sit outside because of a chain smoker next door.

Not in any order:

Beverage packages

WiFi

Dropping  carry-on bags in cabin on boarding.

Select dining

Unlimited drinks at bars during Elite HH

Blu

Suite Life

No smoking inside or balconies.

Where did suite guests eat before Luminae?  I remember seeing Blu on our 2014 cruise, but don't remember the others.

We had MDR dining with our preferred choice of early or late and a table size we requested (just us or shared)...

I am fairly sure we also had some complimentary speciality dining too....I think it was one night per cruise but it was a long time ago!

We could use Blu which we did for an odd breakfast....

We just got back on Celebrity after many years away, so it's hard to answer the actual question.
But I can say, we loved seeing guests and staff who were genuinely happy to see each other and spend time together. I know this isn't new, but we sure enjoy it.
