I was on the same (excellent) Celebrity Fjords cruise as Zap - and had every intention of comparing it with the (good) P&O Ventura Spain and Portugal cruise of a few weeks earlier.  That won't be happening because I am typing this with one finger, left hand as my right arm is supported by a neck brace as I tripped going into the bathroom on the penultimate day of the Celebrity cruise.  Tomorrow I go for a shoulder scan - had lots of x-rays on my arm - and await surgery.  Not fun and a good night's sleep is on my wish list!

To top it off, we were some of the very few who wore masks around the ship and DH tested positive on the day we disembarked!  10 days later he is still testing positive whereas I have remained negative 🤞

The day after we arrived home the TV went on the blink, and despite still being just within its 5 year John Lewis guarantee, neither of us had the patience or will to deal with it and a new one was ordered and delivered the next day.  By that time I was awaiting a plague of frogs 😉

So kalos, Eddie, Yorkshire Phil and others, keep the funnies coming.  I need all the laughs I can get 👍

Sorry to hear about your fall and injured shoulder on your cruise and then your husband testing positive.

My hearing is not good these days but I don't think I will be buying one of these.

21c and just stopped raining. Had enough rain now over the last 10 days to rehydrate everything in the garden and probably see us through August barring a heatwave, which isn't on the forecast at the moment. It's amazing how quickly the grass greens up again.

Wife is going to London next week with 13yo granddaughter, it will be the first time granddaughter has been to London. Mind you I haven't been to London for 10 years.

True to form though this weather in the kids school big holiday .

Going back my Dad was an expert in choosing our week in a caravan where the downpour

would last, best part of our week ,never one of the sunny weeks .:classic_mellow:

There will be kids stuck in due to the weather with grand/parents trying to amuse them .

Have you ever  had one ask where rain comes from ?

I think a cute thing to tell the kid is “God is crying” And if the kid asks why is God is crying,

another cute thing to tell the kid is “probably because of something you did” :classic_ohmy:

Hope you all have a good day :classic_love:

Good morning.

19°C and cloudy here this morning.

We watched the new series of Below deck last night on E4.

We have watched several series now.

We've been watching the series about the Virgin party ship Scarlet Lady and it looks like hell on sea to me, not to my taste at all.

I don't normally do weather reports, but it is tipping it down here in North Lincs, and has been for the last couple of hours.

Probabky the wrong type of rain though !

It has been drizzling for hours  here, and is humid - but at least the lawn is greening up a bit.  The sun is just trying to come out, and will do later everywhere, so don't be glum!

But the rain still hasn't made its way down the A1 to Hertfordshire. Groundhog weather here, heavy cloud, humid but bone dry...

I'm doing my best to wish it on it's way to anywhere but here.  It is easing a bit now so I am hoping to stay dry this afternoon.

Well today we thought we would just jump in the car and go somewhere nice for lunch  We chose a big pub/restaurant on the Medway with views and thought it would be nice.  I thought I would send lovely photos "Grapau and friends style".  Alas no...

We were shown to our table and had drinks. We ordered then waited and waited and waited.  We laughed and just said "Hey we are retired now.. no rush" but after 1hr 5mins we enquired, then at 1hr20 minutes I asked  someone who looked like a Manager and he said 2 mins.  Various people were enquiring and he came back to us and said "no food on the bill"...When it came OHs was fine.  Mine was ok apart from the steak pie which had been microwaved to death.  I almost needed a hammer.

We heard them telling a couple nearby that there would be no charge for food or drink.  Across from us two men were sitting, one had his food.  Halfway through the other man's meal came but it was wrong and went back,  it came again, wrong,  and as his friend had finished his meal he declined another.. again no charge.  When we left four girls near us, who arrived 5 mins after us, were still waiting.  They hoped to get out before midnight! This was just the tables we could see.

On leaving OH quietly said to who we think was the Manager "I think you have kitchen problems"  he said that the Head Chef was off on Mondays and Tuesdays.  They would have been better to have closed off some of it.  They were taking food off so  many bills..they must have lost out.

They wont survive like that.  If they had said when we went in that there would be a bit of a delay that would have been fine,  That happened a while ago in a restaurant, they were up front and we have been back, but we wont go back to todays one. What a shame

Just having a catch up after having been at work all day.

Sorry to hear about your run of bad luck, hope things improve for you and your arm gets better quickly.

.Weather wise down here it was misty and the forecast was for showers all day. What did we have? A nice sunny day, although very muggy and 26c in St Ives😕 Since I've been home it's clouded over and rain is forecast for later tonight!

Not much rain here in muggy Kent. We did have one very hard downpour Sunday evening just after England scored their last goal - and made our sky box go off!! 😡 I was saying to John ‘do something!!’ 😀 The signal was back in time for the final whistle thank goodness.

Back from a day at the Commonwealth Games T20 Women’s Cricket, two entertaining games England v South Africa, England won & New Zealand  v Sri Lanka, New Zealand won. Both teams have now qualified for semi finals with one Group game left to play to decide group winners.

We have met and chatted to people from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka today as well as numerous volunteers and police officers. It was a very friendly and happy place to be today, weather not too bad either reached 25C this afternoon, we had a couple of very light showers which didn’t amount to much.

We have some friends currently on Scarlet Lady, so far they are enjoying the experience it’s more relaxed and “less stuffy” (their words) than other cruises they have been on with Cunard, P&O and Fred Olsen.

Just received the dreaded e mail from P and O, "important information regarding your upcoming holiday" ,and for once no cancellations of ports,   phew, just changes to the order in which were calling , in their words "to ensure we are able to call at all our ports of call ". Big relief as the last time we had this cruise booked (which got cancelled) they took a full day in New York off the schedule due to "berthing problems". Fingers crossed this will be the last of any changes.

I have wasted most of my day trying to order a drill that DH had told me he would like for his birthday,  I went to B&Q and they don't stock them because it is too specialised so I rang my brother who told me to get it from Screwfix.  They have it in stock locally but only for click and collect so I tried to order it and spent over an hour trying to pay after I had put it into my basket.  It accepted all of my details but as soon as I  entered my card details it kicked me out.  I tried both my credit and debit cards but no luck, so I tried Screwfix customer service who said that I should speak to my bank.  I rang Santander and the young man checked my accounts and told me that there was no problem with either of my cards but that he personally had the same problem yesterday with Screwfix so I have given up and ordered the drill from Amazon but I am less than impressed with my first ( and probably last ) attempt to purchase something from Screwfix.

If it was so early in the day I would be reaching for the wine now 🍷

Apropos of nothing, do you know that B&Q and Screwfix are owned by the same company ?

I never understand why people go to B&Q when often the same product is cheaper in Screwfix .

We are back from our latest Princess cruise and are now trying to decide whether to go ahead with the one that we have booked for October.  We have never been disappointed by a cruise on any line because we don't expect perfection but our experience on Emerald Princess was the worst we have had on any cruise.  I am now concerned about going on Emerald Princess again.  I am going to call our Princess contact tomorrow to look whether it is possible to transfer our planned cruise to a different ship.  Each problem was dealt with satisfactorily on board at the time but the number of problems was ridiculous, the worst being a broken pipe in the ceiling which woke us up at 5:40 am dripping on OH's head but it was just the final straw after so many minor problems.  We have been told that the ship will be having a dry dock for the 2 weeks before our next cruise, so either everything will be fine or there are likely to be snags following the dry dock work.

I have never been so desperate to leave a ship but we were off the ship 6:20 this morning as soon as we able to carry our own luggage off.

There were a number of Covid cases on board, we were told that it was around 200 cases but as is usual there was no official confirmation of numbers, we only know for certain that the 2 people next door to us were taken away and the cabin was deep cleaned by a team dressed in protective clothing.

Just to say we are on Emerald now and it has obviously improved since your holiday.

Cannot tell you how much better shape this ship is in than Azura at Xmas. No comparison. And

dont forget the ships are identical.

The food is great, the cabin very comfortable and the staff are superb.

Our next stop is Dublin and we have been blessed with good weather. Princess a step

up from P and O no doubt.
