I see girls wearing flip-flops on the hike and that’s a very bad idea.  Yes, it is a very easy start with paved path but then the trail gets very uneven and rugged.  You can easily twist your ankle and sprain it.  I did that the first time I hiked it.  And that was wearing proper shoes.  Good thing there is railing that you can hang onto along the path but definitely not for anyone with bad knees or hips.  

 

 

So on the way back from Diamond Head, we decided to visit the Honolulu Zoo.  We pass by it all the time but never been there.  I remember there was some talk about zoo’s on here and thought we’d check it out report back.  It is a smallish zoo but just enough to walk around and find your usual animals if they are not hidden in the shade somewhere where you can’t see them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vulture looked right at me.  Scary.

 

This shave ice was so rewarding and refreshing after all that walking.

I never did understand seeing people with flip flops on a trail. Not only can you get injured, long term you could end up with foot problems not having good arch support.

 

Zoo looks fun.

It sure is!  Once was enough for me, I don't ever intend to do that one again.

 

There's a hill/dune in Saugatuck, Michigan, called Mount Baldhead.  There are 302 steps to the top, fifteen flights of stairs, with a bench to rest at every other landing.  That's another one I have no intention of doing again!

Good for you!  I hate those staircases, too.  You just have to take a deep breath and just go.  I counted the first set.  It was like 68 steps.  The second was like 99.  And then there are the metal circular staircases.  When you get to the top, your have to duck your head to climb up and out to the lookout.  I hit my head on that yesterday.  Ow!

If just packing for Hawaii is wearing me out I am sure climbing those stairs would totally wipe me out!

When we have been there, there were signs at the top and bottom of the ramp saying to stay off the ramp.  There were also chains going across so people would use the stairs.  I wonder when they started letting people use the ramp.

These last few weeks have been so hectic with preparing for our granddaughter’s Baptism as well as the drive to babysit for Zoey. As well as 2 major stressful goings on in our lives. Both are eagerly awaited. 

The drive is worth it. I usually can make it with one pit stop. ( 4 hours 20 min) Getting older these legs move better with a 10-15 min walk at one of the rest stops on rte 71. I probably look goofy. Probably should borrow a dog so I look like I am on a mission. 
Anyway my one friend asked me if the drive is getting to me. 
How could it. It is like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. 
 

Oh. I wish this thread would have summaries every week. I am so far behind. Little time to read.

When we visited Masada in Israel, we took the easy way to the top with the cable car vs. walking the snake path by foot which would have taken 45 minutes each way.  We got there too late and it was too hot to trek by foot.

When did your friend graduate?

When I went there, the school was divided into the girls’ section and the boys’ section.

Each had there own wing of the school, sharing a mid-building lobby,gym, and auditorium.

The cafeteria was shared, but there was an invisible line in the middle separating the girls and boys, strictly patrolled by teachers on lunch duty.The school became coed a few years after I graduated.

So, I didn’t know too many of the boys except those on the basketball team.

For some reason, I dated a few boys from Malloy HS. My friends and I went to dances there 

Yes,it is a small world. For example,my 

DH had cataract surgery last Thurs. He had a follow up visit Fri.

We were chatting with some other patients in the waiting room. One of the gentleman went to the same grammar school where I had my first teaching job.

He graduated in 1962, I began teaching there in 1976.

I have fond memories of the carousel in Forest Park.

@lenquixote66 Ridgewood and Glendale are so close-there are many neighborhoods  that kind of run into each other in the boroughs.

Long lasting friendships are precious.

I have three  close HS friends -we have known each other for 57 years!

Today we will have hockey on from 1pm to midnight, and some Blue Jays/Yankees in jump on the remote. The weather has been favourable for staying indoors, being cool and wet. Hopefully it will be nice enough to BBQ ribs this afternoon. 😋

 

There sure was plenty of exciting overtime hockey yesterday with plenty of  momentum shifts. Just as it should be in the playoffs. Nice to see your teams won and while I might have been on the "wrong" end, I'm ok with it.  I have tickets to Game 6 next Saturday so hopefully there will be a game 6 that the Rangers win & move on to the next round.

 

And the Blue Jays sure gave the Yankees a thumping this weekend. A good weekend for "The 416"! 😉

Y’all is plural. Short for you all, which is plural and a shorter way to say all of you, 

You is what we say to one person. 
Y’all is what we say to more than one. 
That’s how we tell Southerners from pseudoSoutherners!
