Once again, they should have knocked out Bruce when they had the chance two weeks ago.😏

Ah, well.  I actually felt bad for him when he started feeling so down.  I can no longer stand Jake since last weeks Tribal.

We do 1 also if we plan on being home.  Have a small lighted one for the years we go north.  Yes they are beautiful butso much work if it's only us looking at them.  Other ways to get in the holiday spirit without so much work.

We started our married life with a real tree when we lived in Chicago, but then we always travelled to either Vermont or Michigan so artificial seemed more sensible.  Then when we moved to Michigan, we added more artificial trees as we still travelled most years for Christmas.  It is a lot of work, but I love all of my trees and ornaments that I have collected.  Also, I usually host parties for my bunco and euchre groups 😀.

It's got to be tough for the kids when their birthdays are in December.  One of my nieces were born on Christmas Day.  They celebrated Christmas during the day, then in the evening her Birthday was celebrated.

To make matters even crazier, my younger sons birthday is January 5.  I didn’t plan very well. 🤷🏻‍♀️😁

Your trees and your home are beautiful, Jen!

I am not decorating for Christmas this year, so I am loving seeing everyone’s indoor & outdoor decorations.  All the trees posted here so far have been decorated beautifully

I am on the fence about decorating.  I have a blow up army, that I don’t want to deal with this year, since we are leaving on the Airstream trip first week of January.  That is my Christmas.  We have no kids, my mother and father are long deceased, my brother and sister are deceased.  My nephews have kids and no great need to be with us.  I am definitely not putting up the 12 foot tree and all of the ornaments.  If we do a tree it will be a small one.  Blow ups…. Hmmm…. Such a pain to keep upright in the wind and snow and rain.

Ah humbug.  🤣

I agree.

It was frustrating when I was a child in celebrating my birthday. (December 15).

I remember asking my mom where were the pictures celebrating all my birthday parties. Well I never thought I would hear her say. “ There are none”. “Your birthdays too close to Christmas and you got more gifts”, not parties.
And they never gave me one.

I am probably the only soon to be 67 year young adult that never had a birthday party.
But it is what it is.

But it is probably them carrying no the tradition.

My dad - December 19

My mom - December 27

But I gave my daughter two birthday parties a year. One on her birthday and a half year birthday.
(Christina) December 26.

and now our  granddaughter (Zoey)  December 19.

And boy the party for Zoey,  well it should be fun.

Hey. Gotta be born one day. Our family just waited till the end of the year.

Be safe.

Your house looks beautiful with all the decorations. Well done.

My dad was Dec. 20. He always hated the Happy Birthday /Christmas gifts growing up. We went overboard on Father's Day. ☺️

Linda’s is December 22nd. I feel bad that she has to share with Christmas. Her only request is not wrap a birthday present in Christmas wrapping paper. One year I got her something that was really expensive so it was her birthday and Christmas present so I wrapped half of it in Happy Birthday paper and the other half in Christmas wrapping.

That was a great solution!

Last year we were cruising most of the month of December.  I put up the tree but otherwise didn’t decorate.  This year all the kids are coming so I have a lot of work to do over the weekend.  It’s lovely when it’s all done.

Yesterday would have been my mother’s 95th birthday.  She never did like the fact that she had to celebrate on the day that JFK was assassinated.   Our newspapers had quite a few stories to mark 60 years since that event.  I was in 6th grade, and am old enough to remember where I was when it happened.

Happy 95th birthday in heaven for your dear mam.

She has just reached the 12 week point in her pregnancy and no longer feels sick but still very tired.

Man, that first trimester fatigue is nothing to mess with... I used to have to get up in the morning, eat breakfast, go back to bed and nap, then get up to go to work, then nap on my office floor during lunch, then nap after work, make dinner, then go to bed.  I don't know how women with other kids survive it -- I only had to keep me and the dog alive, and he could feed himself!

My SIL will make a roast turkey, a smaller deep fried turkey and a smoked turkey breast.  With 11 adults and three kids under 5 there should be plenty!

We were talking about this at work today... my ex has two turkeys and a spiral ham, and it's just him, me, our son (23), and his girlfriend (24)!  I'm envisioning a lot of turkey and sammiches in my future!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  We are headed to my younger daughter's sister-in-law's house for Thanksgiving dinner later today.  My daughter married into a great family...very caring and giving people who we get along with well.  Her SIL has a fairly large house with a big open kitchen and living room area, so it's perfect for a large gathering of people.  She does Thanksgiving buffet style, which also works out great for large groups where everyone can bring something.  Since we can't cook much while living in my older daughter's house (who is also invited so my whole family can be there), we'll just bring a few bottles of wine.

First, we'll squeeze in a few more hours of work painting the second coat on the bedroom.  My older daughter chose some bold colors, which I guess is appropriate for a Victorian house??  I don't know...I'm the tech guy, not the designer. For her living room, she went with Mellow Mauve and for her bedroom, she went with Gale Force. I'll post some pictures when we're done.
