Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

We just got our Royal up emails for our Jan 2 and Jan 9 Oasis B2B.  A JS was the only Suite??😂😂 offered, and the minimum starting bid for it was 3 times what they were asking on our Odyssey cruise.   We aren’t bidding on either.  Maybe if they would guarantee the same cabin for two weeks for one bid we would think about it.  Otherwise, we don’t want to move cabins.

We got ours for the Harmony 1/9 yesterday. We are not bidding either. I have a large balcony cabin in a very convenient location and don't want to move.

My next to last job was in the West Village.I used to go to the Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker street to buy Red Velvet cake.

I still love the vanilla. Followed by Red Velvert cup cakes and that Banana Pudding is to die for! I miss it so much. Bought the book and tried to make it. Not the same.  I do not know Bleeker Street, I used to go to the one near Radio City.

Thanks for the kind thoughts- it certainly hasn't been easy-   I just now got the call that he is ready to be picked up.  Took almost 2 weeks I don't know why and no one is able to tell me.

Sending lots of hugs your way.

I am looking forward to meeting you on the 1/9 Harmony cruise.

In 1998 when I went there I believe it was the only location.Tourists lined up for many blocks to get in.

The only time I was in Times Square for New Year’s Eve all I saw was the seat of men’s pants and the back of woolen coats. One of my uncles kept trying to pick me up, but we were packed so tight all that did was jam my nose farther into the people in front of us.
I have never wanted to repeat that experience!

I went with a friend that I am still in contact with and every year around this time we have a discussion about that night.

I remember drinking hot chocolate at one end of the Rockefeller Center rink, and watching the skaters,  who seemed like something out of a fairy tale to a little girl from Florida.
I finally learned to ice skate,  in Florida, at the age of 34!

I never learned to ice skate but I and all of my friends in NY had roller skates with a skate key to tighten, loosen them that we wore around our necks.  I loved skating all over the neighborhood.  Some of my friends skated occasionally at Wollman Rink in Central Park.

You can bid on one or multiple cabins or suites there normally will have a minimum amount that you must bid, if you win you might not find out until the day you sail , got a email on day we sailed two weeks ago saying my bids failed. On celebrity we found out two days before sailing that our penthouse suite bid was accepted.

Thank you for explaining!  After booking a cabin, when do you get the email to place a bid?

5 hours ago, Ozark_Kid said:

You have to be booked but it can be a guarantee room as opposed to a specific room if that’s what you are asking.  You are basically bidding up to a higher category.

And, thank you also!

My daughter and husband who live in Manhattan live near Columbus Circle and Central Park.

The stores on Fifth Avenue from E.42 St going north were unbelievably beautiful in the 1960’s.

Re Times Square.I was there on December 31,1962 to see the New Year come in.It was the only time that I had that experience.

I think New Years Eve in Time Square is better experienced on TV.☺

Getting caught up.

@grapau27 Those food pictures have me drooling, especially the pizza!

Last night we went to the Holiday Festival of Lights at Roger Williams Park Zoo, with our local daughters, SIL and granddaughters.  First time we’ve been and we thought it was really well done.  They had stands with hot chocolate, beer, wine and s’mores available (all for an extra fee of course!).  Santa was there - the grands were not interested LOL.  We learned there are over 3 million lights used.

Shopping is almost done.  Now to wrap them all. I don’t know why I wait until almost everything is purchased.

We are headed out tonight to purchase a new vacuum.  Exciting stuff, right?  I have a Dyson (which I hate by the way) that hasn’t been working right. I’m replacing it with a Shark that has a “lift away” portable option for hard to reach areas.

It looks beautiful. We went up to Lasalette in Attleboro last Saturday evening. It was impressive but I think I would like the zoo better. It has been quite a while since I've been there.

So very beautiful. A feast to the eyes.

Friends have travelled to Nazareth Christmas market, and the pictures they've send couldn't even compare to those.

Tourists are banned entry to Israel since the new variant, and many pilgrims/tourists, who usually visit Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Nazareth, are nowhere to be seen.... 😢

If you haven't already bought your new vacuum yet, take a look at Miele.  It's a German brand that's well known for a variety of appliances in Europe.  They aren't cheap but it may be the last vacuum that you ever buy.  They work amazingly well, are versatile, and are surprisingly quiet.

After reading this I looked at January 9.  That’s crazy how many balconies opened up.  The GS would be tempting but I think we would of chosen being in the same balcony too.

It still shows that it’s going to Antigua, have you received a cancel on that yet?  Seems like it has been canceled on a lot of cruises.

No word on Antigua being cancelled since this is a quantum class ship I am hoping we will be okay.   I think it was the Oasis class ships that cannot go because of construction or dredging (I don't remember).

I sure hope we go there we love Antigua.

So very sad.  When will this end?

We ate at a new pizza place downtown acouple weeks ago. It was great.   The owner came to the table and we talked about the sauce we make and before we left she brought over a couple of  cans of tomato sauce to try out. So nice off her

How very nice!  Our grandsons' dad is the owner of a restaurant in Pa. and he is always introducing himself and welcoming all old and new customers alike.  How great that the owner has given you the cans of sauce to try out!

Last night Jim and I came home from Staten Island with a pizza, and our daughter laughed, as she showed us the 2 pies she had just come home with.  One of them was a buratta and arugula pie.  Oh my, but it was delicious!

We had the Home Depot Kitchen Consultant out today. We are having the cabinets and drawers refaced, new sink and countertops and eventually new appliances. She said our kitchen was really clean! I was amazed. :classic_biggrin: So, after obtaining a new HD credit card with 0% interest for 24 months, and paying a large sum of money, we will have a new kitchen in 16 to 22 weeks. :classic_biggrin:

I'm surprised they can deliver that quickly.  We ordered some window shades 6 weeks ago that were supposed to be a 4-6 week delivery, but now have an estimated delivery date of Feb 7.  Micheline ordered some fabric to re-upholster an old chair.  They originally said it wouldn't be delivered until February but are now saying June.  Just ordered an undercounter fridge.  No delivery date yet but likely at least 6 months.  I keep seeing headlines saying that the supply chain problems are starting to be resolved.  Not from where I stand. 😒

I thought that Dyson would be my last one.  I’m honestly glad it needs to be replaced.  This house we downsized to has mostly hardwoods with area rugs so our needs have changed with no wall to wall.  What I really need is something more lightweight and flexible.  I love the lift away feature in the Shark which essentially turns it into a hand vac.  I appreciate the recommendation though!

That's beautiful! Those are the house colors I am looking at for the exterior, kind of a greige, with charcoal grey or light black trim.

Perhaps now but the early 60’s in NYC was a different place.I had a girlfriend living in the Bronx.I went by subway from the first stop in Brooklyn to her residence.I came home at 2 AM and it was peaceful.

Today ,I could never do that.

On our first time in Antigua we took a tour of the island with a wonderful tour guide. She included lunch which was not part of the tour at no extra charge. Not just a few nibbles but a full meal. The next time we were there I knew I had to do a tour with her.
