Whose Booking New Cruises? I did!

Recommended Posts

I just put down a deposit on the Nov 3-21 Hawaii Cruise sailing from San Diego on the Koningsdam

I live in San Diego and won't have to worry about air.   This cruise will only sail inside the USA between 2 states with relatively low COVID breakouts.   There will probably be a midnight touch and go to Ensenada unless they waive the PSA (unlikely I surmise)

I am going to start planning my next cruises and quit worrying about refunds!

Who is has something planned?

I HAVE!!!!!  On April 30th I put down a deposit on the 3/31/22 Volendam 16 day Panama Canal.  We'll physically be transiting the canal on my 50th birthday.  The pricing with an agency group discount, my casino discount and the "Have it all" promo made it a deal too good to pass up - especially when the timing was so perfect!!!!!

We had a cruise and its substitute canceled in 2020, now we have cruises book in April and October 2021!!  Two cruises in one year is very unusual for us, but these are unusual times.  Cruises are the most wonderful vacations. ❤️

Last month we booked a February Tropical Caribbean cruise. Had planned to wait until after final payment but the Have It All promo was too good ignore. This in addition to our already booked July 2021 Alaskan Explorer cruise.

Along side with you ..... we've got this same one booked AND we had the earlier Wine Coastal on the KDam booked so fingers crossed they both sail! We have also booked two Caribbean sailings in spring 2021, the Ryndam TA in 2021 and Antarctic in 2022!  (along with others we already had booked in 2021).   We believe In HAL and we will cruise again.....sooner rather than later!

I have a cruise booked on the Oosterdam leaving September 27 for Auckland where she arrives November 7; next are Westerdam B2B on April 5 and May 2; Veendam on July 3; and Grand Africa on October 10.  All these cruises are booked through a TA I have used for many years (not a big box TA); prices are much better than booking direct with HAL, and the FCC I have from cancelled cruises are easy to have applied to a booking--and please don't flame me for this last part:  I am only going by my own personal experience!

Happy Cruising to all!

You have a great line up going!   What ports are you visiting on the way to Auckland?

Quite a collection in Hawaii and the South Pacific, three in Australia, and six in New Zealand prior to Auckland--and looking forward to all, even those that I've already visited!

We used our FCC for a January Hawaii/Mexican Riviera on the Koningsdam, and are thinking about booking the April 24 Wine Pacific Coastal to replace the September coastal we know will be cancelled.  We already had 2 Med cruises booked next fall.

Great thread after seeing so many negative ones.  Greek Isles in October, 2021 (a rebook from cancelled 2020 cruise).  And DW and i will get one in before then too.  Sail on.

Thanks for starting this thread , getting sick and tired of all the bad news ones . My glass is always half full so we have booked like @DeeDee Groff the late September '20 cruise to Auckland , I have a deposit on the Premier Cruise of the Ryndam , whenever it is or wherever the itinerary ,  and am seriously looking at the Norway / Baltic cruise for next July  on the Nieuw Statendam ,

After that is booked we will be looking for a cruise for Jan / Feb / Mar  '22  to get away from the Canadian winter . ( Yes we woke up to snow on Sunday morning MAY 10th  ! NOT nice ! )

Rebooked a cancelled Alaska cruise for next May! I am sharing the room with my best friend and her sister, so with the 125% FCC we decided to kick in a little extra and upgrade to a suite! We are all in our early 30's so normally suites are not in the price range so it's extra exciting!

I would be very surprised if the Australian/New Zealand Governments allowed international visitors by late September from anywhere but NZ/Aust. The Aust Govt has made it very clear not to expect to have our international borders open any time this year. Even Australian based cruises (Aussie ports only) have been cancelled until end August by some cruise lines. I do not mean to "rain on your parade" but .....

We are booked for a return to Alaska aboard Koningsdam in 20201.  Basically the same cruise as was canceled this year.  Great specials for these cruises.

Also, we switched from our TA, who retired, to a HAL PCC.  So far, a very positive experience.

We're also looking at the HAL Promo for the EZPay plan for the additional OBC.  We may just make a one-time payment, though.

Hmmmm...Well I hope all those who booked future cruises have no issues. I would be concerned not so much that the cruises booked will not happen due to something like bankruptcy of Carnival, but more some form of consolidation. Something along the lines of selling off certain ships to other lines. Changing future  itineraries to maximize profits. So the itinerary you thought you had is no longer. Not knowing if Covid 19 restrictions will make a cruise not enjoyable (i.e. constant wearing of masks, taking body temps, long lines for everything to adhere to social distancing, waiting hours to get a tender to shore so as not to pack in the life boats, no more anytime dining to prevent crowding, etc.).

I prefer to wait and see how those make out who become the "pioneer" cruisers post Covid 19.  Plus, I want to see how the cruise lines handle all the refund issues  before throwing good money after bad.

We are both young ( 60 &59)  and both recently retired and have plenty of time and money.....so we will take our time and see how future cruises go.
