What is it going to take to get you back on board?

Recommended Posts

Only way i would cruise is if there are no restrictions , so that means i wont be on a ship

for quite a while .

There is nowhere to run if there is a virus breakout on a ship .

Dont need the hassle , so i am not cruising .

What would it take to get me back onboard?  The Royal Suite -- Cabin 1744 -- on HOTS sailing November 1, 2020 out of PC -- comped of course, with the entire deck 17 to myself, including Coastal Kitchen, Suite Lounge / Concierge Club Access, Royal Genie, Deluxe Beverage Package, Unlimited Specialty dining, etc., etc., etc. Not asking for much.. 🤣😂.

I wish I didn't have ties to Florida. My son wants to push up his wedding from Oct 2022 to has soon as possible. My future DIL doesn't think she will have a teaching job. She was a substitute teacher in NYC last year and  they may not have a position for her this year. They want to push up the wedding so she will be able to have his health insurance. My son wants to have a civil ceremony for the legality so she can be added to his health insurance but the bride wants a wedding even if it's only 50 people. The issue is my son wants his Grandparents and his Aunt and Uncle who live in Florida to be there. So now we are in the same situation as you were in not being able to attend your moms birthday.

Can you drive?  Wear masks?  I just bought a whole supply of formal night masks, and found men's tuxedo masks on Amazon.

Might have to wait awhile then.  Can’t tell long term effects without waiting a long term.

was talking to a friend that was thinking about being one of the test subjects for the vaccine.   He decided not to because he would not know if he was in the real group vice the placebo group.  If someone or a group required the vaccine, he could not say for sure he received the vaccine.  He also would not have been allowed to go get a vaccine because the testing would not tell him if he had one or not and the possible problems with two different vaccines.

Yep... I believe in science. But I wonder how much this vaccine would be rushed. Therefore I'm happy to wait a bit.

Lonely?  Except for CocoCay, I have friends in all those ports -- would invite them up to my private deck 17 -- social distancing, masks, tests and all.  Would have a grand, safe, fun time! 🤣

Hey guys - the Covid deniers - we get it. You don’t think Covid is a big deal. You don’t think things should be closed as a precaution. You think there are lies being spread by Big Covid to make a crisis where none exists in reality.

Could you do everyone a favor and not rehash the same points over and over again in dozens of threads every single day? As I said, we get it. If someone asks “Do you think Covid is a hoax”, sure, bring up all your facts. But if it’s not relevant to the topic on a cruise board, maybe save it for a board on politics or public health?

Will cruise again, when it is the same experience as before.

Not paying big $ to have a cut back experience and that includes you airlines.

No cruising soon. The longer this takes, the more diminished is the cruise budget cause, well, there are Porsches out there to buy and to be used everyday, oh my...

The issue is that anyone who comes from Florida would have to quarantine 14 days which means they would have to come 2 weeks before the wedding. The entire thing is ridicules for a few hours to attend a wedding.   I understand they got cheated. No engagement party (they got engaged on a cruise in Feb and came back with Covid) no bridal shower and now no reception. They should just do the legalities for the insurance and have the religious ceremony at a later date. It's not like they will be able to go on any kind of honeymoon during a pandemic. It's a sin what people have to stoop to in order to get health insurance in this country.

What about weddings?

No. Only departure ports. Many years ago a family member had a wedding aboard Viking Serenade embarking from San Pedro Ca. Wedding party and guests were allowed on first and then those guests not sailing with us had to off just prior to sail away.

This is a fascinating post. I have read the thread and not read a single comment indicating that people are Covid deniers. Neither have I read any politics on the issue. Just people providing pinion in relation to the issue at hand - When we are ll happy to cruise.

Covid is very real and very dangerous.

However, it is not nearly as bad as forecasters claimed at the outset

It only affects the vulnerable in notable numbers

The young are virtually immune.

It is dwindling very quickly.

Treatment has come on leaps and bounds since the beginning.

And management is now very accomplished in most communities.

Look up Wuhan pool party and see the video of how the people at the release point of the virus are now behaving.

I won't cruise before all of the land venues are up and running and we aren't wearing masks. If it's not safe on land than it won't be safe at sea. There is too much uncertainty with the on board experience and ports of call. If cruising doesn't return to where it left off before Covid, it will no longer be a vacation choice for me.

Pretty much sums it up for me also.  We have to fly to cruise, so a lot of things have to change before I will start traveling again. Even if all restrictions are gone I'm not sure what cruising will be like post C19, so I will probably wait and see.  I do have a L&S Oasis cruise for Nov 2021 - only time will tell if we are on that one or not.

Not until we have had the vaccine and as we are UK nationals and our cruise on Anthem is from New Jersey not until the travel ban has been lifted. And once I have the vaccine I WILL NOT be wearing mask as we don't need to  because once we have had the vaccine we can no longer catch the illness correct?

It's NOT supposed to get worse this fall, they are saying hospitals have seasonal flu people AND now covid people THIS fall, that is WHAT IS worse.

You must have misspoke and forget the word "SOME"

BECAUSE SOME of the people in the U.S. ARE being responsible

They were talking about this on the news last night and now are thinking that the regular flu season might not be as bad because so many people are wearing mask and practicing social distancing.  Makes sense to me.

Then there are the college students, some continuing to act irresponsibly - and you know what I say about that - if they are caught violating mask and social distancing rules, then expel them from college for a quarter and send them home.  No tuition or other refunds and they can't take classes on line either.  Bet that would get a lot of this campus craziness under control very quickly.

At this point I'm not afraid of covid. I've been working with the general public handling money touching the same surfaces has they are, my wife and son commute to Manhattan and knock wood we have been lucky. My main concern is plopping down a lot of money and using valuable vacation time for an experience that is a shadow of what it once was.

I'm not willing to be committed to cruise ship excursions or having to reserve a time for dinner and shows and being limited to how many can be in the casino or bar. Even 30 years ago when they didn't have the choice of dining like they have today and only had set seating times, it wasn't as bad as it could be now.  There are going to be a lot of restrictions when this starts up again. I'm also not willing to jump through hoops like waiting in a holding tank for C-19 results to come back just to board a ship. There are other ways to enjoy a vacation that aren't so  complicated and restricted.

+1 There are no more answers of value as everyone has an opinion.

This is the main subject of many of the postings.

Stay Safe.

How are you going to manage bringing guest onboard at each port, especially with COVID19?😇

Yep.  I hope by Nov 2021 things will be somewhat "normal" and if I think it's safe to cruise I will probably go on that one for several reasons:

1. I paid an extremely low price for a balcony back in October 2019, when I booked - I don't have a huge amount of money invested.

2. It's on Oasis and even if I don't get off the ship, there is plenty to do.

I will not however book anything else until cruising is back to what it used to be.  If that never happens, then so be it.  Like you said, there are other vacation options out there.

I think this applies to both sides.  Easy to spot those.

I wear a mask.
