Potential of 90% effective rate...safety still to yet be determined.

90% would be so great✌ especially when so many seem to take the fact that a vaccine could be approved at 50% as somehow saying a vaccine developed will be only 50% effective. Again✌

It will take a while - 2 shots 3 weeks apart, and Pfizer says they can have 1 billion doses by early 2021 - but there are 7 billion people in the world.

But yes, very good news, we can all be hopeful that life will return to "normal"!

Certainly the best thing we have heard in a while.  Hopefully the remaining trial will validate the reported numbers.  90 % effective is very high and would be helpful overcoming those who won’t get vaccinated.

There will have to be a triage system.  People at low risk can wait.

If you want to see a comprehensive list of the vaccine candidates, the approach they took, and where they are now in the process this continually updated list from the NYT is great reading.  The information is presented in an easy to understand manner and the various candidates are grouped according to their approach to the virus.

Much hope that this news today will make a major difference in our current situation.

But....

If the vaccine is truly what's advance billing is, the next major hurdle will be to convince "We, the People"--not just some of "We, the People"--but a very significant percentage of "We, the People" to take the vaccine.

That is their problem and their decision.     Businesses, schools and other institutions always had the right to demand a vaccine to enter.  Those who don’t likely will benefit from herd immunity once vaccination is widespread.

I would expect that post covid many foreign countries will require proof of covid vaccination just as some countries currently do for other types of vaccines.

No doubt, the cruise lines will insist on it.  For both customers and staff.
