I know, seems very odd. His surgery is in Luton, no idea why? There must be closer hubs though.

Here is the list of practice hubs from the local site

Parkwood Health Centre

Lordswood Healthy Living Centre

Rochester Healthy Living Centre

St Marys Medical Centre Strood

Woodlands Family Practice Gillingham

Wainscott Surgery Strood?  - starting next week

They are all providing jabs for several other practices

Medway Maritime Hospital for priority patients plus NHS and care home staff arranged in advance

And all of those except one is closer for him 🤷‍♀️
He’s not bothered though, he’s just glad he’s getting the vaccine.

That’s good news Sarah , my in-laws got theirs on Saturday with a nurse coming to them at home and doing it !! I was very surprised because I thought they weren’t doing home visits, it was so strange that they had the post delivered with their letters to contact the surgery to make a appointment to get their COVID jabs and ten minutes later ther was a knock at the door and a nurse was there to give injections to them because they were on the home bound list she said .

This is really good to hear, my Dad is housebound and extremely vulnerable and should be receiving his vaccine along with the rest of group 3 but I was concerned that he would get overlooked because he cannot leave the house. Fingers crossed home visits happen in Kent even if he has to wait a while. I think all his carers have had their vaccines now apart from my Mum who should get hers soon too.

I'm very thankful that many of the younger generation I personally know are considerate citizens who don't put their own needs before others. Like many, my son celebrated his 23rd birthday with a large group of his friends, fifteen adults drinking, socialising and playing games.............all safely on zoom using modern technology to connect with each other. This has been repeated on numerous occasions during lockdowns, like everyone they struggle with their mental health and miss human contact but adhere to all the restrictions without too much complaining. They cannot wait to get the vaccine and live life to the full again but accept that they need to wait for a few months as there are many more vulnerable people in the queue before them. We are all very thankful to the scientists of the world to make this an option so quickly.

We both received our vaccination letters from the NHS today, and I have already booked both jab appointments at Halifax Boots Pharmacy, the first for next monday.

Great news John. I love hearing that people are getting their vaccinations. So pleased for everyone that now have their appointments and fingers crossed for those that are still waiting. Not long now...x

Are some never satisfied or do they just love to complain?

At the begining of this pandemic everything the government did was wrong. Complaints that the hospitals would quickly be over loaded, so the Nightingale Hosptials were built, and thankfully hardly needed. Now complaints that the money was wasted and could have gone to better use elsewhere. Hindsight.

Earlier on last year when they were researching for a vaccine? Impossible, can't be done in less than 2 years, UK haven't the facilities so we'll have to rely on other countries. Now we have a UK one, others on order and a vaccination programme, albeit a little erratic has begun. Now we have the antivax brigade and the ones who think they should have the right to choose which vaccine to have. Has this country gone completely nuts, or am I just being naively over-grateful for what we have? I don't think I am, but I'm sure others may disagree😉

There are no private covid vaccinations.  There may be in the future but I imagine that future is many years away.

In that case I had better pray for Cunard to extend the cancel dates into December or hope that the U.S travel ban remains until then. Because I have no chance on a 12 week cycle. Not both shots.

Probably a little bit of both. Do you really think any opposition would have done it differently? Of course not. The one mistake they have made was in the production of the vaccines. They should have been setting that up here for these companies so we could get the orders done here.  If we had help Moderna create production here. We would have vaccine from them now.

OK I give up. Things would have been much better if you were in charge. Happy now?

To re cap the Government have not got a clue ...

the opposition    have not got a clue ...

I see a pattern forming here :classic_unsure:

I don’t often post but I am an avid lurker/watcher of posts by others.  Over the last 10 months I’ve been through so many emotions, like most of us.  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and the roll out of the vaccines has given us all hope. I hope that everyone will take the option of a vaccine when offered.  Last week my heart was broken as my brother sadly passed away due to COVID.  He was only 49.  This is not something that only affects the older population.   I am 44 years old and therefore I will have a bit of a wait for a vaccine, I will take any vaccine offered to me that has been passed as safe to use. Stay safe people.

That is so very sad to hear, and it’s impossible even to imagine what you must be going through.

It won’t be easy, but you will come through it.  You will, I know, be in the thoughts of all those of us who read your heart wrenching post.

The people who want their vaccinations in time for their next cruise or the people who want to jump the queue and pay for a vaccine etc etc - take heed, read the above post and be very grateful.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish more people understood how it can affect all ages  You have my deepest sympathy as we have also lost a brother due to covid. I was posting on here at the time and my fellow posters helped me through. Maybe we could do the same for you. Please take care and stay safe.x

I think its this sort of thing I find the most difficult.   Yesterday Andy Gray the Scottish actor and comedian died.  Its not a name I expect many will know outside of Scotland.  He missed the annual Edinburgh Panto a couple of years ago with Cancer but was back in 2019.  I last saw him on stage as part of the Alan Stewart show in February/March 2020.  It was basically the week before the theatres shut down.  The virus was new, they even thanked everyone was turning up.  When I first heard the news yesterday I thought it may be the cancer returning, but no he got covid around Christmas, had spent the last two weeks in intensive care but died.

It just feels wrong.  If he hadn't got it at Christmas he would be part of the next cohort to get the vaccine.   He was weeks aways from being much safer.

At the end of the day we all die of something.  It would be better it wasn't something we now have a solution for.

Please use this forum as a sounding board if you wish - it’s strange that sometimes unburdening to strangers is easier than to friends & family.  I think it sort of erases a dimension and lets you work things through in your head without having to bother about what others are thinking or doing

Life will get better.  Your heart will mend - and he will always be in it x

I’m so sorry to hear this news.

a dangerous fallacy has taken hold with some people that ‘ it’s only a mild illness in younger people’, when it clearly can be extremely serious indeed. I’ve heard more and more stories about younger people like your brother succumbing to the virus😔

my sincere condolences to you and your family

I am so very sorry, and so sad, to hear of your brother's passing at such a young age.  You and your family must be totally devastated.  Your post is a stark reminder to us all that behind the dreadful daily figures that are given out in the media, there lies a broken-hearted sister, wife, mother and so on.  I have not been posting on this site for very long but these people who have become new but distant friends are kind, welcoming, sympathetic and empathetic, and we will all feel very deeply for you.  Take the greatest care of yourself. With  best wishes and great sorrow.  Jane.
