He may have climbed the palm tree trunk to get to the line level and then tight rope walked to the hammock to get in. I see the palm on the left side of this shot has a good slope to it making it quite easy to climb as we've seen done in Hawaii and elsewhere down south.

Good in theory except old fencing nailed to a tree always stays at ground level.
