Looks like all June sailings are cancelled

Recommended Posts

For everyone complaining.....the complaing about monthly cancel and holding up money etc.  It is pretty simple.  RCCL wants to sail......You want to sail......the ship is scheduled.  But the CDC is not saying anything or when.  So both the consumer and the company is being played along by our President's politics......For example, Trump lifted the travel band, and a week later Biden put it back and created extra steps, that really don't do anything.....like getting tested before coming back....3 days before so you can have a whole 3 days after the test to get it. My point is, the CDC is a political machine, controlled by a person that wants to control people.  The cruise line is stuck in the middle.  So with that being said, move the blame away from RCCL and move it to where it belongs.  RCCL is trying...they are moving ships outside the USA.  So write to President Biden, and tell him to lift the restrictions that don't accomplish anything.

Lift and shift offer is +/- 2 weeks, same embarkation port, same length of cruise and same cabin category.

On or before April 22, 2021, move to a qualifying 2022 sailing on the same itinerary, sailing length, embarkation port, stateroom category and departing within 2-weeks of the original sail date and your client's cruise fare/promotion is protected.

We lifted a second time to June 2022. Hate having a cruise paid for for 2 years in advance but still $1,000 off 2022 prices.

Hope to move the 125% OBC to our July cruise otherwise will apply it to 2022

Only downside is cruise with confidence no longer applies so if we change plans we will have to pay the $100 per person fee.

Has anyone done the lift and shift for a June cruise to June 2022?  If so, can it be done online or is it by phone?  Just tried to do it online and it will not allow me to do it, just wondering if it's my computer!

Check your invoice.  It lists the change fees.  They accumulate even though they were waived.  Also penalties for being past final payment will also apply if you ever change this cruise

By phone only

Too simplistic an answer.

Royal made the decision to hold onto deposits as long as they can.  Royal could have cancelled June Cruises months ago knowing the situation both in regard to COVID and regulations.  It has simply been a money grab to preserve cash.

Agree. Much as I hate to see the need to fly to another country to take a cruise, it’d be great to see all the cruise lines move their ops elsewhere and succeed (may be a ‘pipe dream’, but so is cruising out of the U.S. before bankruptcy/liquidation IMO). Then we get to see firsthand how well the CDC has performed.

For those on a comp casino cruise, same procedure as like time. Go to club royale offers dot com and put in last name and booking number. Looks like 60+ cruises to choose from. The offer is good whether you take the refund or not.

im really getting fed up with royal cancelling month by month..why string us along???? not good business practice...

Actually it is VERY good business.

You are confusing business with PR.

When your industry is in a tailspin, PR slides WAY down the line.

We cant know anything as well as we cant predict what will be going on in Summer. My best guess is that we will be back cruising with Covid passports or something. In any case, we will have to wait and see

If you prefer,  Club Royale will allow you to keep the same booking number and just change the cruise/date, but keep any fees you have already paid. So I switched from a cancelled 3-day June cruise to a 4-day April 2022 cruise and only had to pay an additional $71.

"The Attorney General said the suit was filed Thursday against the Biden administration, HHS, and the CDC, demanding that the court find the no-sail order unlawful."

I would love to read her filing and see under which statutes she claims the no-sail order is unlawful.

This is the complaint that was filed.  They brought the action under the APA (Administrative Procedures Act) claiming that the CSO was an abuse of authority.  The state is arguing economic damage and asking the court to declare the CSO is unlawful and should be terminated.  Alternative relief sought is that sailings be allowed under "reasonable safety protocols".  I do not think that a court will declare the CSO unlawful outright.  Great discretion is generally given to government agencies.  IF the court were to order that the cruise lines be permitted to sail under "reasonable safety protocols", they would likely order both the CDC and the cruise lines to negotiate how best to set out the parameters.  Unfortunately, unless immediate injunctive relief is given it's very likely that it would take longer to resolve in court than it might if the cruise lines just worked with the CDC on the phased approach.  Wouldn't that be a kick in the head?

If I was a shareholder, I wouldn’t want it any other way. This forum shows that people will still book in the future regardless of this.

$5? Think I only get about 3 cents month on my $2K Savings Balance, whats that .36 cents a year. Wish it was $5

I assumed $4000 for a cruise and 1.5% interest, which is wildly high unless you are in a 5 or 7 year CD.  For a bank savings account expect .05% so 16¢ is what I should have asked about.

My Canadian assets are in a TFSA so no tax for me... That's a full $5 for me!!  SERIOUSLY!!!!!

Yes, we have ours too.  Wish they’d bump up the annual contribution but then the marginal income tax rate would probably rise.

I keep waiting for them to jerk the TFSA program out from under us.  Just like they are likely to do with the capital gain exemption for principal residence.   When they do my money will flee.
