Ok I find it weird that the ONLY ship to get approved for test cruises (Freedom) isn't on this list.

Not sure I buy this. Does anyone know if any other RC ships have gotten test cruise approval yet?

I don’t see how these ships will sail when none of them even have a date for test sailings.

I agree. RCI only has Freedom scheduled for test cruise in June.  Each ship has to have a test cruise unless they are going with 95/98% vaccinated passengers/crew.  And I don't think that is the case according to Richard Fain. Not likely all of those ships will sail on those dates.  Also Adventure is sailing out of the Bahamas in June, so the July "start" date is inaccurate.

Others have asked already, but do you mind linking the source? These seem like sailings that are scheduled to happen at the beginning of July (because everything else before was cancelled) that Royal has not cancelled yet. Adventure is the odd one out on this list because they are confirmed to sail starting in June (no need to follow CDC guidelines).

Cruise industry news runs this same story every month based in what sailings are available for sale on the website.  With cruise lines not cancelling sailings until the last minute this months story is just as useless as every other story like this for the past year. Nothing but filler pieces.

I am wondering if once the initial test cruise is complete and they can obtain "proof of concept" that they will only require each cruise line to do one test cruise.  I really think that the CDC will bag test cruises on individual ships if the Freedom test goes without a hitch.

All Florida sailings are 'probable' since the state of Florida has that no vaccine passport law.

This must not be an issue because Celebrity doing vaccinations only cruises starting in June! Exciting!

For now.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was quoted by WFTS on Thursday in response to Celebrity's plans, "Companies doing business in Florida, including Celebrity Cruises, should immediately cease to impose such discriminatory policies upon individuals. Companies that violate this law would be subject to a fine of $5,000 each time they require a customer to present a 'vaccine passport' for service."

Will someone in the industry please answer the question, does the governor have the authority to tell them how to run their business!

No one really knows.  Not in the industry, nor even the Governor himself.  OK, that's a bit misleading.  The problem really is that:

1.  Yes the Governor (and legislature) can regulate business in their state BUT

2.  The countries on the itinerary can require vaccination (or deny entry to the entire ship if vaccination is not required) AND

3. The CDC is asserting jurisdiction here through the Commerce clause of the Constitution.  Since the port is manned/staffed by Coast Guard, Customs, and Immigration it's clear that some Federal jurisdiction applies

The real question that no one can yet answer is does the CDC supersede Florida in this instance?  That's for courts to figure out (if it gets that far).  It also all could become moot if cases/hospitalizations/deaths continue to drop and all restrictions are removed.

The case that was filed by Florida (and joined by Alaska and Texas) - Farmer v Book has been ordered to mediation which must take place by June 1st, per the court (so very soon).  But the mediation might not have any outcome (in other words, it could go back to the court).  If that happens it could take a while to resolve things.  The judge already denied lifting the rules before sending them to mediation.  And, even if the judge where to say summarily rule that the current rules be lifted immediately (highly unlikely, given he already refused to do so) it could be appealed and stayed.  In other words, if mediation doesn't work the case could drag on for months.  We haven't heard anything about the mediation yet, either, and we're headed into a holiday weekend.  Lawyers don't like working over holiday weekends anymore then the rest of us do.

It's interesting to observe the same people who advocated for ridiculously strict government mandated lockdowns and restrictions on businesses all for the greater good now don't want a govt. having any say in how a business runs it's business. Even when that govt is attempting to protect fundamental civil liberties all for the greater good.
