Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida.

Sunny and warm today with a high of 83.

Another good selection of days.

I'm not sure about the quote, I speak from experience.

I'd try the tortilla pie.

I have never been to Iceland, just the name makes me shiver.

USA VS. Netherlands today in the World Cup round of 16, it's do or die.

Off to Bob Evans in a few minutes, I have a taste for the Sunrise Skillet breakfast.

Thanks for The Daily, everyone stay well and have a great day.

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Up early to do our Front Runners walk along the downtown waterfront here in St Petersburg.  The weather has been just about perfect with sunshine, 78F highs and 65F lows and humidity under control.  I bought a new (to me) bike from a friend who has decided to move to Portugal after living most of his life in Florida.  Tonight is Florida Orchestra's Tchaikovsky concert, so should be a full day.  Will try to watch N. Statendam sailaway, too.

Read with interest that Viking's newest ship suffered damage and a fatality a few days ago in the Drake Passage enroute to Antartica.  Oosterdam will be down there later this month.  I've only done the cruise from Buenos Aires to Valparaiso, which was great.

  • Enjoy your day wherever your life takes you today.  Warm wishes especially for our northern friends.

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds interesting and I’m sure I’d be happy to give it a try.  We have rain in the forecast so I hope to run some errands before it arrives.  I’d like to visit today’s port, just not sure when that will happen.  I’ll give each of the cats a hug, I’m sure they will be thrilled. 😆. I hope everyone has a good day today.

Good morning from a windy, rainy Southern Ontario.

Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Report.

Great collection of days.

 I like the quote.

I think I'll like the meal, looking forward to seeing the recipe.

The drink looks good too, I'm sure I'll like the wine.

We were in Iceland on a cruise on the Ryndam several years ago, I'll look for pictures.

Prayers for everyone who needs them.  Cheers  for all the celebrations.

Have a wonderful day.

Stay safe.

Thank you for the Saturday report, Rich.  I'll celebrate all 3 of the days today and the Angelou quote rings true to me.  I've been to Reykjavic several times, mostly Crystal Symphony but also Prinsendam.  I think the lips are responding; it may just be force of will power but I did not feel the need for a lip balm between treatments yesterday.

It's fairly warm but raining here today; tomorrow will be clear and cold.  The next 10 days or so will mark our earliest sunsets; while the equinox is about 12/21 sunsets will soon start getting later while the latest sunrises will be about January 3=10.

I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Chilled Carrot and Orange Bisque, Ribbon Zucchini Risotto, and a Butterscotch Sundae as served on MS Prinsendam December 3, 2013.

Thank you for today’s Report & Daily, Rich!  A spectacular morning here. Lots of water birds on the move.

Roy, hope you continue to improve. @JazzyV Vanessa thinking of you and BFF on this most difficult day.

I have a huge to do list today. I have to prep and bring my “famous” salad as part of my contribution to dinner at a friend’s. I have to decorate the inside of the house for the Holidays. Right now the only thing done is the tree, and my Thanksgiving visitors did that for me.

I won’t be able to put the outside decorations up until tomorrow evening, since they are all on timers, and I will be away this evening. But I will get them ready to go up tomorrow.

Not sure if this applies to any Dailyite, but I bet we all know someone this applies to….

Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone.

I hope screwing up the wine post is not going to be an indication of how today will be going. I do believe we have had this wine as our wine du jour before today. And I suspect many Dailyites have enjoyed a glass, bottle, case of it.😎

Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling, Columbia Valley, Washington State

Widely available. Loved by consumers and critics. It is off-dry, but a bit too sweet for me. Excellent ratings. Numerous online distributors with prices starting at $7.97.

Winemaker Notes

Chateau Ste. Michelle Columbia Valley Riesling is a blend of Riesling from throughout Washington's Columbia Valley. The wine offers crisp apple aromas and flavors with subtle mineral notes. This is Chateau Ste. Michelle's "everyday Riesling" that is a pleasure to drink and easy to match with a variety of foods.

W&S92 Wine & Spirits
Cold Creek is a warm site for riesling, which, in 2019, translated to a wine with exceptional and stalwart fortitude. It leads with yellow fruits, like mango and peach, along with a whiff of golden apple. With its firmly structured core, this is big and powerful, lingering on paperwhite and petrol notes that lend complexity and savor. A phenolic tour de force for pork loin.
WE91 Wine Enthusiast
The aromas intoxicate, with notes of white peach, lime, jasmine and flower. Off-dry leaning sweeter stone fruit and Nestea Lemon Iced Tea flavors follow, with a strong sense of acidity threading through it. The balance and intensity are exquisite. It’s everything one could want from this variety. Best Buy

Good morning everyone. I’m having trouble with the font and color.

I love all the days and the quote. My grandson worked from home all week and is feeling better. I’ve tested negative everyday and today is  day 10 so Roy you can take us off the list. If someone can tell me how to fix what I’ve done with the color, please do.

Stay safe everyone,

CarolG

Thanks for our Saturday Daily, Rich.

Great collection of days.  After my experience, I think we should have more than a day for people with disabilities - there’s a lot of little things that could be done in many places including BHB’s to make their lives easier.

Interesting quote - not sure I agree with it.  The meal suggestion sounds like something I used to make for DH - will be interesting to see if it is similar.

Nice to see a white wine today, but like @cat shepard  it sounds too sweet for me

@grapau27good luck with your appointment on Monday

Yesterday I hobbled out to the car and into the store and got some foot & ankle braces.  Glad I bought 2 as one was too big but the other one fit!  And it helps quite a bit and is letting me use the foot a bit more - a good thing - it’s been unused too long and needs to start getting used 😉  Hopefully I can do more today 🤞

Another windy, rainy day is going to be upon us.  Hopefully not as bad as the other day but I guess time will tell.  A good day to stay in and do my on line check in for my cruises.  Ugh on B2B2B - 3 check ins.  “Sigh”.

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout List.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I believe we should recognize people with disabilities every day, and certainly agree with Let's Hug day - DH gets hugged every day.

The weather has moderated somewhat so that it's only -27C and feels like -39.  LOL  We're a hardy bunch up here on the "frozen tundra"; last night when it was colder than a witch's kiss, DH and I were standing out on our driveway watching the international space station pass over us.  Although it was u-g-l-y cold, the sky was crystal clear, just sparkling with stars, and we could see it clearly as it went across the sky.

On another note, I am finally able to say the historical video that DH produced and I narrated is now available for public viewing.  If any of you are interested in seeing it, grab a cup of coffee, tea, or your favourite beverage, sit back and get to know a little bit about the history of our province.  I don't know how to make a link, so I'll just spell out the site for you:

www dot riverlands heritage preservation region dot ca

Take out the spaces between the words and you should be good to go.

@JazzyVprayers and comforting hugs to you and BFF as you lay his father to rest today.

@dobiemomBon Voyage!

I like today's menu suggestion and happen to have ingredients for what I think the recipe will call for, so I'm pretty sure we'll be enjoying triple decker tacos and a side salad at the kitchen table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them, cheers to all who are celebrating.  Be safe, stay well.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Good morning all. Thanks Rich and all who contribute to make this a great place to be. Another grey day. I can't wait to be on a bhb and watch the sunrises. Today I will venture out to grocery shop but since I have limited time to be here I need to get things that will work out and all be gone when I leave for my cruise. Prayers for those on the Viking ship. Since I will be in that exact location on my next cruise it hits close to home. But what is life without a little risk and gamble? Boring. So I will not let it worry me.

Good morning friends!  At a little after 8 am the Volendam left Manaus and we are heading to Boca da Valeria (tomorrow).  After sitting still so long at anchor in Manaus it feels strange to be moving again.  Thanks to Rich for today's Fleet Report and Daily.  Looking at the map you posted what a weird sight to see a cruise ship in the middle of Brazil instead of on an ocean like the rest of the ships!  😁

Thanks Roy for the lists today.  I'll pray for those on the Care list and am "Happy as Larry" for everyone on the Celebration list.  Good wishes for Graham as he has his lesions looked at on his face.  Go USA in soccer!  Thanks everyone for your contributions here each day.

Reykjavik, Iceland was port of the day on May 19, 2021 and here is a link to Rich's post that day.

Reykjavik is a fine city to visit.  Our first visit there was on Emerald Princess in 2011, second visit was on Caribbean Princess in 2015, third visit was on Seabourn Quest in 2018, last visit was on the Covid cruise Island Princess in June 2022.  On the 2018 Quest cruise we actually started our cruise in Reykjavik so flew over a day early to spend the night there.  That made the stay there a little more interesting because we had more time.  We have also flown through Reykjavik several times on our way to Europe.  On the 2018 flight to Reykjavik from Boston we had a TV news personality and his family on the flight with us.  DH spoke to him while they waited for luggage to show up at the carousel.  After hearing our cruise plans, he said he wished he was going on our cruise with us, but he didn't have that amount of time off, so they were going fishing there in Iceland.

For those who haven't been to Iceland yet, one of the best tours you can take is a Circle Iceland tour.  Sometimes they call it Golden Circle tour and other times Grand Circle tour.  The point is they take you outside of Reykjavik to see the geysers, waterfalls, and volcano site.  You will probably also see the Icelandic horses in the countryside.  They take you quite a distance on these tours so it will take a long day in port to achieve it.  We took a private tour with CC roll call members our first time in Iceland.  I recommend it for a good overall look.

A photo of the famous Hallgrimskirkja church which I took in 2018.  The weather was perfect for our overnight visit so we saw pretty blue skies which made all our photos better.  You must see this church when you visit Reykjavik! enhance

enhance

Another place that Reykjavik is famous for is the Blue Lagoon.  I have never had an interest in going there in the past, but if I continue to visit this city I have a feeling I will end up there someday.  I might even find I like it!

A typical street scene.  enhance

The second stop on the Golden Circle tour was the Pearl, a dome with stunning views of the city from the panoramic 360 degree platform.  The dome sits atop the huge tanks in which natural hot water is stored for heating the city.  Inside is a rotating restaurant, a cafe and a museum.  At least it did in 2011 when we visited there.enhance

enhance

enhance

Driving around the island you saw scenery like this.enhance

We stopped to see the tectonic plates which divide Europe from North America.  At least I think that's what they told us.  This would be a good thing to do some research on when I have nothing else to do.  Right...enhance

enhance

Heading towards the geyser areas we saw scenery like this.enhance

enhance

enhance

enhance

enhance

enhance

enhance

Then to the Gullfoss waterfall.enhance

enhance

Then we drove to another waterfall, name unknown but I did take a photo of this sign just before we arrived so it could be a clue.enhance

enhance

Last stop was to see this volcanic cauldron.enhance

Before we got to the cauldron we were looking at some Icelandic horses in the fields.  In their native country they have few diseases; Icelandic law prevents horses from being imported into the country and exported animals are not allowed to return.  This is a poor photo of them but we had an accident with a farm dog who ran into the road and had to stop and see to him.  The horses were forgotten at that point.  enhance

Good morning, everyone!

I woke up to rain, but it is supposed to clear out eventually.  Hopefully it will be a decent day.  This has to be short as I have a Zoom meeting at 9.

Today's meal is really one that you can make your own very easily.  Just use the foods you like best!  This first one uses a rotisserie chicken.  Can you get any easier than that?   https://cookpad.com/us/recipes/356564-triple-decker-tortilla-pie

2053094924_tortillapie1.jpg.9885584dc40da65a32243a4fa6e38ecd.jpg

That looks nice and fresh!  This next one doesn't use any meat, just mashed pinto beans that are spiced up.  You can add meat if you wish.  I doubt it would hurt anything.   https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/main-course/main-course-beef/triple-decker-tortilla.html

613428001_tortillapie2.jpg.f01b8fa54168b736bdd8b55b1848726d.jpg

This one uses black beans.  https://www.seededatthetable.com/mexican-triple-decker-pizzas/

101565577_tortillapie3.jpg.769eeb1fd27cf0394709b5a19e1af45e.jpg

And this one uses ground beef.   https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/tortilla-pie/

1462036998_tortillapie5.thumb.jpg.18668cc82385237a025aff2b7b2f8bc2.jpg

There are tons of variations for this meal.  I would take the meal and use it as a framework and make it what I want it to be.   You can't mess it up!

Wishing you all a wonderful day.
