Considering booking my next cruise....is 7 nights TOO long...?

So my family and I have taken three cruises before.  We've done 4 nights, and all thought it was too short.  Then we did 5 nights, and thought it was just about right.

We're seeing some pretty good prices on the Vista for a SEVEN night cruise.  I don't know, I just almost feel like that could be TOO long??  Has anyone done a 7 night cruise before and thought it was too much?

I appreciate any input.

7 nights is a great amount of days. For me, that’s ideal. But do pick your itinerary and ship wisely. Do you like port days or sea days? Do you want a larger ship packed with the latest bells and whistles, or do you prefer a more low key atmosphere aboard a smaller ship?

Longer cruises tend to be more relaxed as you are not trying to pack as much fun in a limited amount of time. Usually, when I take a short cruise, I come home feeling like I didn’t relax and I need another vacation. On 7 night cruises, I do return feeling like I actually went on vacation.

I have done three 5 night and one 7 night.  I enjoyed the 7 night, my husband thought it was too long.  I would do another 7 night in a heart beat.  We had rainy weather on port days so it kinda put a damper on our excursions, I think that might have had something to do with why my husband was ready to get off the ship.

We prefer 7 day cruises, with the family,  and have never felt as though they were too long.  We have done a couple 3 day cruises for a quick getaway without the kids and have left wishing it were longer!  On the other hand, my sister-in-law has done 2 seven day cruises and felt "trapped" during both.  Definitely recommend 7 days!!

I have only taken 7 night cruises so far and I've been cruising since 2000. I have an 8 day cruise planned for next year. With that being said, I wish I could do more days, a B2B is definitely in my future. I leave a cruise feeling like staying on the ship for at least another 7 days. I have never felt bored or than a 7 night cruise was too much or too many days!

We've taken 2 - 3/4 day cruises, 2 - 7/8 day cruises, and 4 -13/14 day cruises. As most have stated, it's a personal opinion, and I definitely prefer the longer cruises. Never have gotten bored. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the 7 you're considering..

We have done a 4 day cruise (for New Year's ) , a 5 day, a 6 day,  several 7 day cruises, and some 8 day cruises. Our preference is either a 7 day or an 8 day cruise. A 5 day is the shortest cruise I would ever consider. Anything less, unless it's for a very special occasion, like New Year's, is just a teaser. So to answer your question,  no, a 7 day cruise is not too long for us.

I think 8 day is the ideal cruise length for my wife and I, so a 7 day cruise definitely isn’t too long in my book.  As others have stated, 7 days on a cruise is a great way to travel, have fun, relax, etc., and you feel like you had a real vacation when you get home. Shorter cruises are fun too, but they always go by way too fast.

we have taken the 4 day cruise a few weeks ago-  It will be our last.   No sooner did i get on and it was time to get off.    7 days is perfect    a sea day after leaving   a sea day before arriving back.    7 is just enough to relax and unwind

I am going to buck the trend and say I prefer shorter cruises.  I don't mind longer cruises, but I still prefer 4 and 5 day cruises.  I don't need 7 days to feel like I have been on a fun vacation.  I feel relaxed from the moment I leave home until the moment I get home.  It is still worth it to me to fly or take Greyhound/Amtrak longer distances for a shorter cruise.  I love traveling.

I brought my mother with me on the longer cruises that I have been on.  Sharing a room with her was not ideal because bickering was inevitable.  I had to escort her everywhere on the ship.  She refused to take the initiative and find her own way.  I felt tied down.  She would get unreasonably upset every night when I refused to go to the dining room 30 minutes before it opened.  I would rather be 5 minutes late than 30 minutes early.  I would probably enjoy a 7 day cruise more if I was cruising solo.

I prefer smaller ships because they are less crowded.  Smaller ships do mainly shorter cruises.  The Dream class is as high as I will go.  I won't get anything more than a cove balcony on that ship class.  When I look straight down, I want to see the water, not a hot tub or lifeboat.

It also might have something to do with my first cruise being a 5 day on the Jubilee in 2002.  I was 13, and I didn't care about having the latest and greatest amenities.  I ate ice cream, drank lemonade, played bingo, and pretty much lived in the pool.

I have since been on a 4 day Sensation, 4 day Inspiration, 5 day Fantasy, 4 day Triumph, 8 day Legend, 5 day Triumph, and a 7 day Dream.  I have a 5 day Sunshine in February, 5 day Valor next December, and a B2B Glory(7 + 7) in January 2021.

I will be going on a 4 day Inspiration in August 2020, but I won't be able to book it until July 2019.  That is when a convention I am going to will likely release its August 2020 dates.  I currently plan to bring my mother on this trip.  We would also be going to Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland/California Adventure.  We would take Amtrak because she refuses to fly.

My husband loves to cruise and go to the beach. Most of the time he prefers to be home. That said he said the 7-night cruises we have done he has always felt like he could stay even longer.

I certainly don't get bored. We take shorter cruises now because of family, pets, and work schedules But hoping for a 7 day or longer for our 30th anniversary in 3 1/2 years!

We recently returned from an 8-night cruise.  We had enjoyed a 3-night and a 4-night prior to that.

We both agreed that 8 days/nights was barely long enough!  We aren't sure our upcoming 5-night cruise we have booked is going to be anywhere near long enough.

We have agreed that 7 nights is a minimum for all future cruise bookings.  We have a 7-night and an 8-night booked after the next one, so we're good to go from there-on out...
