Ugh

I guess I must be pretty special to warrant a phone call...that's if they actually do call.

Well I can at least get in the app and see some things.  Your's keeps crashing.  Spending time with you may lead them to discover why this is happening to you and many others.

Despite the notation in the personalizer that access to Google Play was 'coming soon' I was able to use the link to download the app to both my phone and tablet - both Android. 

Although focussed right now on our November sailing, other bookings for next year all showed up.

While the app is glitchy and freezes periodically, have entered most info required except the passport scans.

Instructions are clear enough, the focus being on the two lines at the bottom of the detail page.  But try as I may while both devices scan the document, (a green bar appears briefly) the app has yet to accept a scan from either device.

If others have encountered the same issue followed by success, what did you do differenty to get the scans accepted by the app?

Where did you find a place to scan your passport?  I haven't even found that.  I scanned it into Ocean Ready but I don't know if they are even using that anymore - although interestingly, the new security/ profile picture that I put for both of us into the Medallion Class app were already in Ocean Ready!

It was in my Ocean Ready & Personalizer history so I didn't need to scan it in. But Step 1 in Ocean Ready Profile is for personal information and documents

Okay, yes, our old passport was in Ocean Ready also, but we had to get a new one in March.  I put it already into Ocean Ready.  I was just checking to see if you found somewhere in the Medallion app.  Thanks.

Ok. Re-writing this. OCEAN READY is part of MedallionClass app. The sections are Ocean Ready, Ocean View, Ocean Now, Ocean Compass, and Ocean Casino (separate). So when you put it in Ocean Ready you are putting it in MedallionClass app

Same here, I have the newest app and on an Android Smartphone. Click to select arrival and departure times and shows 2 check but says 0 and immediately shows a screen that states no arrival or departure times are currently available. When I x off of that I am able to deselect and recheck then it show 2 but I can't do anything. So updating my app is not the problem

Yes, I did that this morning. Had a couple of go’s before I got it right. You have to also take a photo of the passport after scanning it. Also added security photos. 
This stuff is way out of my comfort zone. This is only our second Princess cruise and our usual cruise lines don’t have this procedure. By next year when we take our next Princess cruise I may be an expert (or maybe not).

Just checked Google Play. MedallionClass app is back available after being taken down for some time. Not sure if today was the first day back.  Anyway, there are contacts posted in the comments for problems.  We are not sailing until '22, but for those of you who need to get things in order, good luck with the updated version. Interested to read if the app will work now.

It's been available by using the link on Princess.com, so many of us have already been experiencing the updated version and while it may have fixed one or two things, there are still many serious failings.  That said, I do believe that many of the issues are data conversion related, but the OCEAN team is not really being transparent about the issues.

I posted a few hours ago about dificulty scanning our passports. After intially positioning the passport as per the example, I though the scan had taken place at that time but was puzzled as to why it was not accepted.  That second screen is when it is actually scanned!  There is a notation on the screen "Tap to Take Photo" which I though was my phone simply trying to take a picture. From what I acheived that was the actuall scan. 

Perhaps the notation would be better phrased "Tap Screen to Scan".

I'm weirdly reassured today but just a little. They responded thanking me for the screenshot showing I cannot change "0" to "1" writing they'll get back to me on that. Mary (PVP) also responded that they can handle Step 4 whenever I get to the pier and Step 5 is done within 3 days before the cruise. But that she'll monitor it too.

Sounds like, if they don't have step 4 (Arrival/Departure groups) resolved before you leave, you can just show up whenever you want (early?) and they will accommodate. Nice.

Thats what I'm being told. So whatever time the hotel shuttle gets me there is good.  And yes, saving that email, printing it off at Office Depot, and keeping a screenshot just in case the port doesn't believe me

Yeah .... they should get their story straight. I will be assigned an arrival time if unable to get the app to work beforehand. 

 

At any rate, I'm only concerned with Step 5: Health Status

I wonder how many languages the app will be available in. After all, many Princess passengers are from countries where English is not the main language.

This is an important statement to me, if true.  This step is the arrival & departure groups.  On the arrival, Princess has said they will assign one if not ever selected.  Likely that is going to be end of day, just prior to gangway lift since those who choose will likely fill all earlier slots. 

 

But, the statement made to you makes it seem like show up anytime, such as first thing in the morning, and they will "handle" you.  I kind of doubt they will say "Come back at 3pm".  

 

So, does this mean boarding groups are just "suggestions" like the former deck and cabin range suggestions?

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with the app folks. While the person I spoke with was very apologetic and understanding, the crashing issue has not yet been resolved. Lol. As I suspected, the problem appears to be in the phone model - they are seeing the crashing problem with iphone 6 and 6s and they are trying to work on it to see if they can make the app compatible with these models. I am fortunate that I do not have a cruise booked for a while (thanks to my August sailing being cancelled) but she did offer to help with dining, getting ocean ready, etc while on the phone with me. I declined for now. They will follow up with me and keep me informed as to if/when the app should work on my phone...

Does the CDC Framework enter into the picture here?  I was under the impression that selecting arrival and departure groups was designed to meet a mandate that the cruise line limit the number of passengers in the terminal at any given time.
