Well we made it to Juneau and catching up on posts since we left Seattle. Impressions so far:

Have had only a few issues with the Medallion and internet. Do sometimes get dropped from online but it is not enough of a hassle to even mention.

Most everyone is doing masks when required.

Did not even use the medallion to book for dinner. Traveling with another couple and have been dining in the Symphony dining room as it is on same level as Vines where we usually meet for predinner drinks. Have been seated immediately both  nights and he put us at the sam table wi h same waitstaff. We eataround 7:00. Both nights the restaurant was not close to being full.

Spoke with Neville the first night and booked and confirmed for the Chef’s Table Thursday night. Yay!

For the peron asking about bringing water or soda onboard, I saw someone with a 12 pack of Pepsi.

So happy to be back cruising again. Food has been fantastic and service is great. IMHO, sit back and don’t sweat the small stuff. Sitting on our balcony as I write this and I think the rain has some sleet mixed in! Not sweating the small stuff though!!

We just returned from Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas to Alaska and will be sailing on Princess' Majesty of the Seas on August 22nd.  One of the things we had to do while on the Serenade was to wear masks both on the ship and in ports.  I know that Princess is requiring masks on the ship --- have they given any indication that masks are to be worn while in port?

I was on the first sailing out, back in July, and I honestly don’t think they had the pub lunch.

Thanks for some reason I have missed it the last couple of times.  I hoped to make it this time 😞

We are currently on board Majestic in Juneau. So far, fabulous,  no real issues, food has been wonderful,  service just fine. Almost all passengers you see walking about the ship are masked, always a few contrarians, but I just go the other way or wait for the next elevator. All staff is masked or double masked. Staff is so accommodating and genuinely glad to have passengers  back. Thanks to a previous poster, anti fog wipes for your glasses help some. Having a ball!

Slot Pull FYI:

I entered the 380 on my room account yesterday, 19 played (12 no shows), withdrew 222. So my account is now blocked for withdrawing too fast.

oh wow - not cool!  Hope you get it straightened out quickly!

For those asking about masks. You have to wear them while walking around, in the casino, retail stores, while getting food in the buffet, while waiting in line to be seated in a dining room or restaurant, in line at the IC, at the customer service desk, shore excursions desk and while seated in the Princess Theater, Princess Live etc and maybe a couple of other instances that I’m not aware of. If you are seated, eating or drinking in most other locations we have found that you do not need to wear them.

@sfkaren - Thank you for posting answers while you are on your holidays!

We may have missed it, too but the high tea times were listed on the app but we never saw any pub lunch listed.

@OmbudThank you for taking the time to post while you are on your holiday

@sfkarenThank you for sharing your precious time with us while you are cruising

To all the cruisers who are posting, thank you for letting us cruise vicariously with you.

I have now figured out how to tag posters so that they will receive the gratitude I am sending.

Enjoy Alaska, plus, all of the experiences that you have on board the Magnificent Majestic.

Did you find the Shoefly store in Juneau? A magnificent shoe store, with an impressive selection of footware. Previous cruisers found it, so I know that it is still there. Last comment - I hope you enjoy pumping up the economy in Alaska, so many more of us can return to this beautiful state for many years to come.

Hello all.  Can someone please tell me when you were assigned your Speciality Dining that was part of Princess Plus?  Also, if that was scheduled during a "formal night" is it worth it to skip the "formal night" or try to change your Specialty Dining assignment?  Thanks!

That was happening to me all last week too when I tried to post from the ship.  Sometimes the editor would keep my text, sometimes I had to retype everything.  Very frustrating!  So for those who are complaining that there aren't enough folks on the cruise responding, they may be trying and failing.  Ombud, have a wonderful time aboard the Majestic.  I really miss being on the ship...

This is exactly what is happening. We had the internet last week but not this week for that reason. I’ve made three posts to this thread since we arrived in Juneau and I’ve don’t think any have appeared (as this one probably won’t, either).

We purposely book specialty dining on formal nights in order to avoid the whole thing.

Read this sent to me by CC staff.

Thanks for writing

For a few hours on Monday we experienced issues with our database which limited/denied access to our boards.  The boards have been restored, however our search has to be re-indexed.  In short, search results will be inaccurate for a bit of time.  Newer posts/threads/images will be restored to search quicker, however it will take longer to restore the oldest content back to our search results.

We have certain features that utilize search that will be effected by this.   This includes features like: Search, Roll Call Finder, See Posts About (Ships etc), Activity Feeds, and activity shown on your profile page

We expect this to take course over the next few days until the search results are back to 100% accuracy

We thank you for your patience

We may do that this time, too ... just to avoid bringing formal clothes and packing light.

Maybe 10% of the ship dressed up. Note to self: skip packing formal dress. Nice pants works

Side additional note:

Alfredos Apple Tart changed. Still good

We were on the 7/25 Majestic sailing and I would say it was half and half in terms of formal wear.  We had a couple of fancy parties to attend so glad we brought formal wear on that sailing.  But, we are headed out on a B2B next month is and only one has a formal night.  I am hoping my PVP can arrange for a specialty dinner for us that evening.  We intend to try to pack in a piece of carry on luggage for each of us.

The tart looks so good!  DH will be on next week!  The eyeglasses wipes do work well.  I used them on my glasses while wearing my mask when we would attend hockey games for Carolina Hurricanes (regular season and two rounds of playoffs-losing to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions, Tampa Bay Lightening.  They really help reduce the glasses fog.

Watching the ship in Juneau on the PTZtv webcam.  Looks a little gray outside but I am sure there is a party going on inside.🎉🎉🎉

Next week we’ll be there.  Can’t wait.  Thanks for all on board that are posting their experiences.  Very helpful.

What does this mean? Can someone explain further please?

The casino will lock your account if you go into the casino and get money on your card through the slot machine, but do not play a substantial part of it through the machine.  This is to protect against non gamblers getting free money by using the casino to get cash to fund their trip instead of using an atm for a cash advance.  The casino does not charge cash advance fees.  Instead it just shows as a casino charge on your overall folio.  People used to do this a lot so they did not have to travel with a lot of cash, but still get cash for use on shore.  She just needs to go to the casino cage and explain what happened.  It happens to me as I am a machine jumper.  I will charge 100 and only play 20 on one machine and cash out which transfers the $$ back to my card so I can go to another machine.  Sometimes they lock my card until they learn that I am a machine jumper and do gamble the full amount.

Actually, the ship is really REALLY quiet right now. Don’t know if everyone is still off on tours or just hiding in their cabins trying to stay warm. Weather is miserable. We have our heat turned all the way up and it’s still cold.

Oh no!  Was hoping the weather would be better for the cruise this week.  And glad that you were able to get another week on the ship.  Even with the lousy weather I was still very sad to leave.  Hope it gets better!

Yes, we got a notice from Princess before our August 8th cruise that masks would be required in ports and that's what we did!
