Blessed Sunday morning. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. A chilly morning with frost. Warming to 50's.

Thank you Rich for the Fleet Report. I've been getting emails from our friend working on Westerdam. He said he's met some people who have seen his picture here on CC that I posted.

Roy, was your dinner from last night or last year? I noticed the 10-12 date. Another thread has spent pages arguing over the rustic lasagna!

Last night we had dinner out, then friends over for a bit. Too windy and cold to sit out at the firepit.

Tonight friends invited us to join them at bingo. Goodness I haven't played in years but our group is fun and we should have a good time.

Thanks Graham for Pastor David's sermon and the beautiful pictures.

@StLouisCruisers Sandi what port/ports are you stopping at that require you to have covid testing? Do you also pack tests to take with you? I'm so excited for you and Dixie, and all our fellow cruisers!

Sadie Hawkins made her public debut in cartoon artist Al Capp's November 15, 1937, comic strip “Li'l Abner,” which was set in the fictional mountain village of Dogpatch, Kentucky. Try writing something like this today!!

Have a great Sunday. Blessings and Cheers.

Thank you Joy.

Lovely new Avatar photo.

Graham.

Good morning all!

I was awakened this morning by the sound of fireworks and then remembered that the Seahawks are playing in Germany today.  Hence the early morning booms in my area. I live in a fireworks-crazy town unfortunately.

The meal, drink and wine all sound good to me.  My first thought about the quote was that now the editor wouldn't bat an eye at the word damn.

The plan today is to replenish the wine rack and get the house in order for the holidays -- and do some laundry.  Have a great day everyone!

I know you are a lot more organized than I am!  However I did get my Christmas cards written, addressed and stamped and they are waiting at my next door neighbor's house for December to arrive so she can mail them for me.  Are you driving your own car to Dania?  Where will you park it for a month?

Yes we are. Staying at Homewood suites on griffin rd. Parking is $5.50 a day and you don’t need to stay there.  Parking access.com

Good morning from sunny but cold central Texas.  It was 30F when I woke up this morning, at at least yesterday's wind is gone.  It is now 44F in Waco.

Last night's UT v TCU game ended the way we expected.  However, it was a good game, and UT held TCU to 17 points while scoring 10 points.

All three days are interesting.  I guess hugging DH counts as hug a muscian since he was in the band in high school.  Papusa sounds like something I might try.  I remember in junior high, we would celebrate Sadie Hawkins Day, and the girls would ask the boys out.

I really like the Mark Twain quote.  As a journalist, I was taught if you could use one word or ten wors, use just one.  Yes, I know I don't always follow that rule on here. 😁

I would like to try the stuffing biscuits, and the wine.  The drink is a maybe.

We were in Recife in 1999 on Noordam III, but our pictures are non digital.  We rented a car and toured Recife and Olinda.  We enjoyed our day there.

@cat shepard  Ann, I loved the two submarines racing.

@StLouisCruisers Sandi, I found out one of our favorite entertainers will be on Volendam from Ft. Lauderdale to Manaus.  Naki Attaman is a wonderful pianist who has two great shows that are not to be missed.  If you get a chance to talk to him, please tell him Lenda from Abilene said hello.  Even though Naki is from Turkiye, we graduated from the same high school in Abilene, but in different years.

@ottahand7  Nancy, I'm sorry your DB now has a rash from the medicine for his infection.   I hope they can solve the rash problem and get the infection cleared up soon.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I miss my musician friend, who left us too early due to cancer. Didn't know what a pupusa was until I looked it up. I was too shy for Sadie Hawkins Day. I like the meal, but will pass on the drink and wine.

I haven't been to Recife.

It's quite chilly still (38F) but at least the sun is out after 2 days of clouds and rain. I think we had some flurries earlier. I'm not feeling well. My stomach is quite upset. I still think it relates to my injections and I'm trying to record events in a timeline.

@grapau27 Thank you for Fr. David's sermon on Remembrance Sunday in the UK.

@MISTER 67 I hope the infection is gone and you get only a small bandage, if any, on Tuesday.

@rafinmd It sounds like a ship is conducive to walking for you. Enjoy!

@ottahand7 Sorry to hear DB has a rash now; he can't get a break!

@GTVCRUISER Welcome home!

@Copper10-8 Cute picture!

@Quartzsite Cruiser I hope things are going well for DH.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

Lenda I've just made a note to be on the lookout for the pianist Naki Attaman and will give him your message if I run into him.  Small world eh?

We have had a busy couple of days in Virginia. Great family get together yesterday. Weather was perfect, especially when we discovered we had snow at home in Ontario.

prayers for all that need them. Will hoist a glass of wine for those celebrating at Happy Hour, happening shortly!

some food porn from Saturday and our family down here (my dh’s side)

It has been a pleasant Sunday here on the west coast of Florida, with sunshine most of the day and a high of 78.  Tomorrow should be the same, so I am going to push for a longer bike ride.  Pump up the tires and oil the chain.  As for me, hopefully coffee and a healthy breakfast will get me going.

Recife was a nice port call back in 2017 on the Veendam.  One of those cruises a Holland America ship may never repeat: Ft Lauderdale to Rio for Carnival and then up the Amazon to Manaus before returning to Ft Lauderdale. That was an exotic adventure!

I did the first half of that same trip on the Maasdam 2 years earlier.

Today was not a great day for DH, but we see the reason as a positive sign of progress and healing. About 11 last night, the leg that has been numb since the first surgery began to hurt, and not just a little bit.  It kept him awake all night, and Tylenol didn’t ease the pain any.  The doctor, who comes in on weekends, spent more than an hour examining DH and talking to him.  He prescribed a powerful pain killer and a muscle relaxer.  They worked but made him sleepy.

The doctor thought it was a sign of the nerves finally beginning to work again.  It will take time for the pain to lessen, and DH will have to work through the pain.  While not pleasant, it's a step in the right direction.

I came home early so DH could sleep.  It was cool and windy, but the sun made it bearable outside.  I took advantage of the cooler than normal, but pleasant weather to mow the yard.  Our warm weather and recent rains greened up the grass and made it grow.  I needed to do something physical and the yard needed attention.

It is supposed to rain tomorrow, so barring any unforeseen things, I'm staying home and catching up on things around here.

Vanessa, I hope you can find out what is causing your stomach issues.  I hope the timeline helps pinpoint the cause.

Sandi, thanks.  It was weird finding out the school connectuon.  We had a friend who was the Event Manager on Prisendam, and we would try to have dinner together every so often.  She would invite us to join her and a guest entertainer.  In this case, we asked her to invite Naki to join us.  He is a very nice man, and easy to talk to.  During the conversation, he asked where we were from.  When we said Texas, he mentioned he was familar with Texas, especially Big Spring and Abilene.  When I mentioned I grew up in Abilene, he surprised me by asking which high school I graduated from.  Before I finished saying the name, he was saying it.  Talk about a shock.

Roy, another instance of it being a small world.  @StLouisCruisers Sandi and Dennis, along with DH and myself were in Rio on Ruby Princess on your last day there on Maasdam.  We looked out on Maasdam from our aft balcony.

Sandi - had a busy weekend but briefly saw your question yesterday about driving to FLL and avoiding major traffic, tolls in the rental car, etc.  If you haven’t heard of it, Waze is a great free app for road trips.  It will constantly calculate your best route based on current traffic conditions, construction, accidents, etc.  Plus you can choose a route with no tolls if that is your desire.  I never take a road trip without using it now - I actually use it for anything but running errands close by with Dallas traffic and construction.  You’ll occasionally get a very strange detour to avoid a major backup, but I’ve found it to be 100% reliable.  Other app users (wazers) alert you to police, stalled cars on shoulder, etc. (even roadkill - lol).  And if you’re the passenger, you can pass some time passing on those tips to other wazers. I’ve found it to be a game changer on road trips!  Good luck on your drive!
