NCL to have HUGE announcement August 4th.

During the webinar they hinted at some things to come by saying, "We can't say anything yet but there's a big announcement coming next month". That was in response the questions of "Any thoughts about putting a ship in Port Canaveral?" and "Where will Bliss homeport?" So my guess is that the announcement will be that Bliss will homeport in PC.

Oh I hope so!!!

I was told when on the Star recently that Bliss is going to China. The source may or may not turn out reliable. Either way I am not too interested as I am not enamoured of these huge ships.

My hope is that there will be a ship in Australia/NZ and that it is one of the smaller vessells.

NCL has, bar none, the smokiest casinos. I LOVE the casinos on Celebrity, as there's NO smoke in there!

Nope, Carnival's worse. My April cruise on the Jewel the casino was not smoky. My Magic cruise last November the casino was very smoky.

Well, we certainly know that each sailing has it's own character(s!).

Let's just say, as a whole (from my perspective), I'll stick with my generalization.

Anyone have any Intel on what the HUGE announcement could be?

It could be the future plans for the kids club, I remember hearing after they announced they were separating from Nickelodeon but they were going to announce something at a later date.

New DSC $18.95

Specialty Restaurants $35

Room service $8.95

Pizza delivery $12.95

MDR $15 for dinner

MDR $10 Lunch

MDR $5 Breakfast

Buffet included in fare

Now this :D. NCL's new Feestyle Cruising 4.0 is coming. Yeah, that's the kind of "Huge" Announcement coming from NCL next month, meow - after the quarterly results are released next week (no news leaking out, so they put an embargo on those vital stats )

Priority Boarding fee (per person & per cabin specials, for non-Haven & non-Platinum pax) @ $$, must be prepaid in full for price protection.

Priority Disembarkation fee (per person & per cabin specials ... as above) must be prepaid in full for price protection.

Priority Tendering fee (per person & per cabin port specials ... as above)

For guests who prefer premium choice of MDR seating without reservations, a flat fee of only $20 for cruises of 7 days or less or $30 for cruises of 8 days or longer - for all parties in the stateroom.

As for the Star going to China & compete in that market - 18% tipping/DSC or whatever it is called with the language translations, isn't going to be necessary popular - it's a cultural thing, for those unfamiliar with it ... it's common to eat, ride taxi & just leave the "loose change" leftover for the service. Now, we can have a very informative discussion about "stiffing" the crew and it should not be a shock to NCL, maybe to FDR & AS themselves - that's of course, off-topic. And, naturally, NCL's ship will be far behind RCI and CCL's already established in that market ... Star Cruise's infamous casino runs aside.

I'm hoping for one of two things.

1. Variety of ship itineraries where they don't sail the same trip for months or years on end. Carnival pulls this off well.

2. Bliss in PC. I really wanted to book Escape, but the itinerary is nearly identical to our upcoming trip on DCL Fantasy.

I would live for Bliss to be an Asia slash Australia ship. I want to do both, but I will likely go solo so I need a ship with studios.

I thought I read somewhere that float out was September 5th to coincide with the Papenburg Music Festival.

No she has to float out before Sep 5 to be used as the backdrop for a festival there at the shipbuilders on Sep 5.

I'm pretty sure I heard Andy Stuart say she will be going up the river Sep 16 during the last Webinar.

My guess for the HUGE announcement is the Godmother for the Escape. (I don't think she/he's been announced yet). :)

I do not see a ship home port, staff/godmother, etc of same, as a "huge" announcement .big..but not huge ...my gut says it will be a new itinerary......Cuba? Australia ? or an Asian location ?.

Either that our NCL is facing bankruptcy :eek::D

And I will admit it was a pleasant surprise in April. In fact, the casino was not very crowded. It seems the 750 kids on board interacted with their families and therefore the casino was not utilized. In fact, the Chef's Table was cancelled because myself and one couple were the only ones to sign up. It was a very differen cruise. So you might be more correct than me.

Also, port times will be cut back to 3 hours max at each destination.

Geez, people, let's not be giving them ideas.:D
