What is on your wish list for guest courtesy?

I wish Mongolian Wok should limit people to one bowl per person per place in line. The line for Mongolian is so slow and so long. It is really frustrating to think you are 6 or 7th in line and then find out 4 people in front of you are getting bowls for 3 of their family or friends. Since there are limits on lounge chair saving (I eat in my chair) I would not have gotten in line if I knew the line was actually 15 bowls line instead of 6. If you want to eat Mongolian Wok, get in line with the rest of us.

This oughta be a long interesting thread.🤣

First few that come to mind:

  • that people waiting to get on an elevator wait for those on the elevator to get off first.
  • that people don't shove past others to get into an elevator (especially shoving past those in wheelchairs and on scooters).
  • that everyone actually wash their hands after using the toilet.  Every time.  I'm disgusted by how often I see women not wash their hands at all.  And those that "fake wash", by just running their hands through the water for 3 seconds and then drying them and walking out aren't much better.
  • that people in general will stop going about as if the stated rules don't apply to them - smoking on their balconies, smuggling alcohol, filling their personal cups from the buffet dispensers, propping open their balcony doors, etc.  All of these things can and do negatively affect the cruise experience of others through the exercise of entitled selfishness.

Elevator courtesy would be first on my list.  I'm able bodied and can fend for myself, but seeing frail elderly people pushed

and shoved is a big pet peeve of mine.  On our last cruise, several of us ran interference for a lady who had been pushed to the side.  It wasn't young folks doing the pushing, either.

I will yield to scooters, but some of the folks on those can be rude and entitled.  If everybody used their manners, things would

be a lot more pleasant.

While I agree with all, you talk about me needing a couple few less cups of coffee....😁

I second the elevator courtesy.  I always wait for the people who were there before me to get into the elevator first.  It was so frustrating on the Vista due to the long waits for elevators.  We would be patiently waiting only to have the elevator filled by people who had just walked up.

I don't want this to come across as being rude but think about it.  If those four people didn't get the three bowls, that means that each of those twelve would be standing in front of you instead of the four.  You still wouldn't get served any quicker.  The workers would still be making twelve bowls.

Like I said, I would not have gotten in line if I knew there were 15 people ahead of me.

Debarkation: Do not go to the lobby until your zone is called. Not speaking English is no excuse.

What about the English speaking jerks who ignore the debarkation instructions?  I'll bet there are way more of those violating the rule than the minority ones you singled out.

Also agree. There are jerks of many languages. Just saw some jerks carrying a wagon full of luggage through the self debarkation and down the stairs. Ramming people and holding up the line. Is there any awareness that there are other people in the world?

Why do people go through life thinking they are more important than anyone else?

I think it's rude for people to cram into an elevator that is already full because they don't want to wait a minute for another one.  I had a very claustrophobic moment when I was standing at the back of an elevator.  There was a lady in a scooter in the middle and several people on each side.  The elevator was already packed when the door opened and more people crammed in. I think that was the worst moment because I couldn't get out even if I wanted to.

Then I saw online where that elevator on a cruise ship got stuck and thought wow, I am so glad it didn't happen to us at that moment.

I'm also not a fan of people who cut in lines.

Mine would be:

1) Please don’t hog chairs.  Don’t put a towel on one and then leave it all day.

2) Proper buffet etiquette/hygiene.  Don’t touch spoons without sanitizing.  Don’t touch your face or mouth and then touch serving utensils.  Don’t use the same plate for multiple trips. And please, please don’t grab the food with your hands. 🤢🤢🤢

3) Keep your sex noise down.  Have your fun, but remember the walls are thin!

1) Control your children.   Not all children, just the ones who need more parental guidance.
2) I am happy to aid the scooters, walkers, and wheelchairs load the elevators first, please be kind enough to not run over my feet as we're getting off the elevators.

3) Scooters sounding their horns do not have the right of way through the casino or the Lido.
4) Please shower between your beach/shore excursion and dinner in the MDR.  Your tablemates (and the tables close by) will thank you.

I started a similar thread a long while back and got slammed for being "mean".  I wasn't trying to be be mean, but express frustration with oblivious people.  In reality, it was meant to just point out things that many people don't often think of when they are wrapped up in the moment.  There are things I had to "learn" when I first started cruising too.

Common courtesy just isn't so common anymore unfortunately.  Some people have no manners and their isn't much you can do about that.  (i.e. washing your hands especially after using the restroom, letting your children run uncontrolled around the ship, jumping in line in front of others - the buffet is a line not just walk up and serve yourself regardless if there is a hole you can just fit into, elevator etiquette, etc.)

There are things though that I think people often just don't think of:

1.  Don't let your room door/balcony door slam - this resonate through several rooms and I can't count the times I have literally had my head bounced of the wall it was leaning against while sitting up in bed reading or watching TV.

2.  Don't try to carry your own luggage on/off the ship if you really can't handle it.  I have started more than one cruise tripping over the suite case in front of me someone dropped because it was bigger than they were and they couldn't manage it (to the point of me almost hitting the ground myself after tripping).  Or the entire boarding line getting backed up while they stopped to wrestle it over the ramp.  I carry my own on, but we always have one small shoulder bag on top of our suite case, and we pack in airline approved carry on size or just slight larger that has 4 wheels, and is easy to manage and handle just for this reason.

3. For sanitary reasons do not reuse the same cup, plate, bowl, etc. and go back to drink dispensers or the buffet line.  Even on land buffets they will tell you to use clean dishes every time.  There are 2000 people enclosed on a vessel for days together and we all need to try NOT to make each other sick.

4. If you start to take food off a serving station and decide you don't want it after all, don't leave it laying on the counter area or worse yet don't throw it back into the serving dishes.  If you don't want it, simply don't eat it and leave it on your plate when you are done eating.  To add to this don't let your children help themselves unsupervised either unless you are 100 percent sure they won't do something crazy.  I have watched kids go up and take something, take a bite and not want it and put it back in the serving container!

5. As someone else said, the walls and floors are thin, think of those around you when it comes to noise it will travel.  This includes dragging things or dropping things on the floors, your TV or personal music, talking loudly or yelling at each other across the room or balcony.  And please, don't sit on your balcony with music blaring, others may not like your choice or may be trying to have a quiet read or nap.

I really wish people behind me in line at Mongolian Wok would stop giving me nasty looks when I order for my friends. Why should all of us have to do an incredibly boring activity when one of us can handle it for all?

In addition, here’s a few that Carnival should follow:

When herding people into a lounge for debarkation, make sure the PA speakers are turned on in the room so people will know when their zone numbers are called.

When squeezing thousands of passengers onto the outside deck for the muster drill, start the drill on time, and wrap it up quickly.

For the cruise director - Schedule the long daily broadcast rundown of the Funtimes between scheduled events. Not right in the middle of the trivia activity, which has to be completely stopped until the announcement is done.

Dining room servers should always bring coffee/tea either before or with dessert,  not after.

’Nuff said. :-)

Please. If you are not actually using your balcony light at night, would you be kind enough to turn it off so that others can enjoy their balconies.  Thank You.

Oh my, yes!  I love to sit on the balcony at night.  In the dark.  Watching the stars.  If someone is out on their balcony and wants the light on, then that's okay with me. Please turn the light off when you are done. So many times the light gets turned on and stays on for days.  The occupants probably don't even know.
