The meat is slow cooked in the main kitchen. smoked flavoring added, sauce available. It's not Arthur Bryants, Franklins, Louie Mueller, Corky's, Paynes, or even 12 Bones. Would rank below bottom 10 joints in any of the top BBQ states. Links tend to be okay. Ribs so-so, brisket a no-no. Chicken is basically baked chicken wit BBQ sauce. To me the Meat didn’t taste smoked at all. Didn’t have a smoke ring just tasted like it was grilled . When we did the ships tour on the Allure a few weeks back they told us on the kitchen part of the tour, that none of the kitchens or cooking areas on board , will ever have flame. All the kitchens use electric burners of some type. No flames lesser risk of fire. Also he told us watch if anyone has a birthday or anniversary celebration on board. I would think Royal is not going to invest that much money without doing some homework. So lets wait and see. It may turn out to be pretty good. It may not be top notch like true BBQ restaurants but with BBQ and smoked meats dominating the restaurant market its worth a try. This is my wheel house. If I'm not on here planning my next cruise, I'm hopping around meat smoking forums! There are electric smokers. There are also electric powered pellet smokers (which I have) that burns small wood pellets. The real question is if using an electric smoker, will the "smoldering wood chips" that are needed to produce the smoke flavor would be allowed? Other options I can think of are prepping it on shore and reheating on the ship using something like a sous vide method or "cheating" using something like liquid smoke. 🤢 No matter how it's done, without being able to actually burn wood to create smoke, it will be very hard to replicate a good BBQ restaurant (or what me and many of us do at home)... 😀 Smoked meat is a very different process than how meat in places like Chops is prepared... 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They used Open Flame cooking Meats. Was also many short tables by lounge chairs about 1 for ever 4 chairs. Nice keep things from getting wet off the Deck, Drinks, Plates and of course many many Ashtrays everywhere...
