If u define Monitor as someone who regularly watch, keep track of, or check usually for a special purpose, then it's

0.04%

 

Would guess maybe 1.0% would come to CC to research, read reviews about their upcoming cruise

Maybe about 0.2% further research by going into special ship info, specific cruise line's info, port locations, etc...

0.1% participate in specific forums like the RC one for a few weeks/months, then drop off after their cruise

then maybe only 0.04% regularly monitor CC....

I just made up these figures, as they're my own opinion.  Just wait a few hours, then some other know-it-all CC member will come on here to post  to state how wrong I am & belittle my opinion because it's anti-cruise, anti-cruise line, & how dare I come onto this CC forum to share my opinion to have an open discussion....  Then it'll fall to 0.03%....

Love it,as in life I guess it's marvelous how many don't think anyone else is entitled to an opinion if it differs from theirs,same people are often very easily wound up which is fun!!!

And miss the witty banter back and forth? It's better free entertainment than some of the comedy shows on board.

Witty banter back & forth is good.  However, I've read posts where it literally comes down to online bullying & harassment.

Some poor Newbie comes on here for some educational info & advice, only to get blasted by others for revealing an opinion not shared by others....

Funny,I've been reading Trip Advisor when newbies post questions about places their cruise is calling at & genuinely helpful people on there advise them to visit Cruise Critic as it will be more relevant & helpful,I tell them to stick with TA!!!

Yes, that is unfortunate and happens all too frequently. I would guess that very few people are aware of cruise critic - especially with the popularity of fb groups. In speaking with passengers on cruises we have sailed, it is rare to find instances wherein one or more of our tablemates are familiar with this site.

I know several people who cruise that don't own a computer. They research their vacations by reading these strange objects composed primarily of dead trees (I think they called them "books") and then book their vacations with travel agents that are actual human being.  😀

True.

We usually get a Viking brochure booklet every other week.  It works, because we're cruising with them at least once a yr now....

When I joined CC in 2008 there were at least 18 other cruise message boards on line.My thinking is that cruisers were spread out.

I found cruise critic in the early 2,000's. When I did have a computer. Just googling about cruises. 

 

Well, smart phones are computers.  But, unless you are using an old hard wired rotary phone,  I know what you mean.   Lol
