My children signed me up to take the vaccine even though there can be serious side effects (see discussion on the Ask a cruise question board).

I will be taking it at the local hospital on Wednesday. My children feel that if I get the virus I might not survive.

I understand your hesitancy with your complicated medical history.  I also understand your children's point of view too.  Having it done in a hospital setting sounds like the right choice.  We are going to try to have my DH get his at a hospital also when he is eligible as he has had an anaphylaxis reaction in the past, it wasn't to a vaccine but it was to a medication, so better safe than sorry. 🙂

Today we had updates about the 2nd dose (either Pfizer or Moderna).

2nd dose is THE dose which clinches the "deal"... the 1st dose just "lays the ground" for the second one.

Israel has decided to adhere strictly to the FDA approval.

Pls. make sure, or at least try, when you get the 1st dose, to have appointment for the second one, from the same supplier, at the recommended interval.

I'm copying and pasting from my yesterday's post on John's DL thread --

"...

The 1st jab shows up to 50% protection after 2 weeks from the 1st dose. That's all.

The 2nd dose is the one which offers you 95% protection one week after receiving it.

In the case of Pfizer, you'll be protected 4 weeks after the 1st dose, and Moderna - 5 weeks.

Since Israel started this week the 2nd dose of Pfizer, experts are adamant that the protocol should be followed, allowing only for 1-2 days deviation.

The FDA approved only 3 weeks between the 2 doses (or 4 for Moderna).

..."

Israel has their stuff together. Leaving politics out of the protocols for the time being. They didn’t make unreasonable projections they can no longer meet without changing the protocols.

Thank you for the updates.

Thank you for the updates.

To date in the UK 45,000 fixed penalty notices have been given to people breaking covid19 lockdown rules.

80% of this number are aged.

18-39.

How much are the penalties?  Where/who does the money go?  How is it enforced?  Do Bobbies have anything other than a whistle?

Singinalot, love your new dining room. We’re halfway thru getting ours redone. Still looking for accent rug.  Getting furniture in couple weeks.
Here’s pictures of old and new. Or new and old depends on which one comes out first. The carpet one is old.

£200 for first offence and increased every time that person commits a breach of regulations.

Organisers of raves fined up to £10,000.

All fines go to the government.

Police officers give the written fixed penalty notices in person at the time the offence is committed.

Police carry truncheons.

Some police carry tazer guns.

Some carry pepper sprays.

Certain police are authorised to carry guns even machine guns.

I learned another new word. At first I thought truncheons sounded like a Chocolate. We call them night sticks.

They got to be trained pretty good to defend themselves. Tasers are not always effective.

Thanks (the Bobbie comment was just for effect but I learned something).

I heard from a co-worker that the rate is a bit higher after the first shot. That being said, your stat of 50% is still a great starting point.

I’m happy to see that your Country has it’s stuff together. ❤️

That's really great to hear they're sticking with the protocols.

I wished Florida would do the same. It seems like it's a free for all here.

IMHO...more people have a much bigger chance of getting into a serious car accident on the way to get the vaccine, than the chance of serious side affects from the vaccine...but that's just me.  Ohh.. AND advice from my sister, who is doctor...specialist... infectious disease doctor

I have a niece who is an MD .She gave up her practice to work at a hospital with Covid patients.

My children spent the better part of two days trying to get appointments for my wife and I.

I spent most of the morning trying to get appointments.  I got one for Charlie but never received confirmation.  Since 65 on over are allowed now I tried for mine, got an appointment and confirmation.  Went back to try for Charlie again and kept getting my info not his.  So spent three hours on the phone only to find out now appointments  near us.  The lovely woman on the phone said I lucked out,,probably a fluke but I have the appointment.  So we then Went to Plan B and got him an appointment at the Brooklyn VA for end of month.  Still trying to get an earlier appointment.  I was forced to have a cosmo!
