Adding to the list of cancellations - Mardi Gras over Spring Break.  That makes 12 so far, with the next one schedule for the Carnival Horizon on April 25.  Not optimistic but we shall see, as the Horizon is supposed to be one of the first ships Carnival puts back in service.

Just got off the phone with Carnival to do the rebook and it took about 35 minutes of hold time because I had to be switch to the casino line to be rebooked. Total time with Carnival was approx 45 min. I rescheduled the same ship, Mardi Gras for Oct 15, 2022, (hopefully far enough out) 😄 I was really happy with the end result as the cruise price for the same exact cabin was $345.00 cheaper which was applied towards OBC as it could not be refunded, but can be refunded as unused OBC once onboard. So, along with that we got to keep our $200 OBC for the cruise ship being delayed the first time, and we got the $600.00 OBC for this rebook and $50 casino cash for a total of $1,195 OBC. Not bad if I say so myself!!!

Once the ships starts sailing again, I will book a shorter cruise later in 2021, just to tie me over, sounds like it may be girls cruise time!!!😁

Just got an email that Feb 6 cruise is canceled

All cruises  are  cancel is canceled through Feb 2021

I even called Carnival last night.. wanted me to cancel w/o perks

What do you mean, cancel w/o perks?  Do you mean that the current deal you were offered won't be transferable to another cruise?  Like a casino deal?

Our only scheduled cruise left is March 1st on Liberty. Not looking too promising for that to happen, but sure hope so. Going with grandson and his wife for their anniversary, it’s been booked for a year. He got a fantastic rate when we booked, but I’m sure that’s going to be gone when we rebook.

Haven’t rebooked the 2 January cruises we had on Breeze yet, still trying to figure out what they’re going to do about the “7 days or less” part of the CDC order. Really getting frustrated with all these cancellations. CDC probably isn’t going to be happy till they put the cruise industry out of business!

It was only a matter of time being both RCI and NCL had cancelled already.

At this point they very well could be waiting until vaccine is available to all.

There is no guarantee that the CSO requirements will change with a vaccine, certainly not in the immediate wave of vaccinations, and certainly not until they determine whether the vaccines prevent transmission or not.  As I feel that future airborne virus outbreaks are just around the corner, I suspect that many of the CSO requirements will become permanent.  That, however, doesn't guarantee that the cruise line executives are smart enough to think this might happen, and keep working on the requirements.

If I had canceled myself last night be no perks.

Must wait till Carnival cancels you.

What I lost in the discount I'll get back in OBC so It'll all even out I guess.

And I actually ended up getting $100 more OBC from my TA than I had on the cheaper one so even better than it looked earlier.

I hope you found a great re-book, Greg.  Sad that we don't get to take that February cruise and have a toast at the Alchemy.  I saw it coming, too and booked a Panorama for early May 2022 with deposit only in late September.  This afternoon my PVP applied all of the funds (it was paid off) to the Panorama booking.  The $600 OBC was great, but the February cruise had $700 OBC (last April's $600 OBC due to cancellation + $100 promo OBC).  The $100 OBC didn't carry over.  Oh well.  Really looking forward to Panorama.  BTW, I really enjoyed your Panorama review.  It was definitely an eye opener for what was possibly coming our way.  Happy (eventual) cruising!

Oh boy. Getting closer to our May 8 2021 Mardi Gras sailing... that would be the third cancellation. Crazy times.

Wondering if we should just move it to like 2023 or something.

We are right there with you, feeling less and less optimistic about this sailing going forward.  Just hope they make a determination prior to final payment being due.  Already have thousands of dollars tied up in cancelled Princess cruise from this year.  Looks like the only cruise that we might get to go on with be Bermuda next October at this point.

Couple more moves and they can have dual inaugural’s on the Mardi Gras and Celebration

My hubs works for a large consulting company. Carnival is/was interested in reducing costs so he put together a program for them (not being specific). Carnival Cruise Lines could not afford the program even though it would save them a lot of money in the long run. Things are not good there. 😔

Interesting.  When you are bleeding 600K+ a month sitting idle, it is not a good situation no matter how you look at it.

His record for judging the future is not all that good.

Excellent post. It won't be popular in some circles, of course, but it's spot on.

Yeah, this is why I filed for a refund this time around. I had rebooked my June cruise to Feb 1st, thinking with the optimism of spring that cruising would be sorted by fall. At this point, I can’t plan as far ahead as I feel like I would need to, nor do I want my money tied up for that long.

Carnival isn't interested in what people can afford.  Carnival is interested in how much people will pay.

At any time of the year....2 adults in 2 cabins brings in more $$$ than 4 in 1.

It's just like a luxury line....if you can't afford it, you don't go. (Not saying Carnival will be a luxury line...just more expensive for a slightly better product.)

I don’t think Carnival’s product is going to change, other than any COVID related protocols. I think the Carnival experience will still be the Carnival experience, the RCI experience will still be the RCI experience, etc. The only difference in my opinion is cruise prices will likely increase across the board for every cruise line.

While I would hope what you say will come to pass, the more time goes on the more impact the virus will have, at least that is what I am beginning to think.  Permanent changes to embark and debark and events on the ship might change for the foreseeable future and I mean years, not months.  Once that kind of time evolves, what was once engrained as a process could be significantly different.  Royal’s wow might have less wow, Carnivals fun might not be so much fun.  But that said, it is all a crap shoot now.

Well you can blame covid, but there could be differences. Rcl first cruises to Singapore loyalty did t matter when embarking. You were given a time slot, this person had 2:30, and then next time slot 3 pm had it's own line. None of the usual, I'm top loyalty, I can come and go to the head of the line as a for instance.  Though at 50% capacity lines were very short everywhere.

Hard to know what will change short term, and turn into long term changes.

One not two cabin stewards to cut down on exposure contact. Etc.

Any product that costs more attracts a different clientele.

If you buy a 1ct diamond on 47th Street it may be $1500.  For the exact same quality at Tiffany's you're looking at $5000.  But the people at Tiffany's will have more disposable income and dress better.

The people who are used to paying very low prices because that's all they can afford or are willing to spend won't be on a ship that's now charging a lot more.

I doubt food etc will change...but the passengers will.
