We just canceled our cruise for next week.  Too stressful to take a vacation with all these rules. Not the right time.
stay home, stress free, no mask, no testing, no islands with restrictions, no flying with a mask on for hours.
never thought canceling a vacation could feel so liberating. Strange, but true.

Sorry you had to cancel but you did the right thing for the right reasons. I will not risk my family and its not worth the stress and aggravation. Its not a vacation. And the fact that the cruiselines refuse to disclose the number of positive cases onboard in disgusting.

I understand your position here and I thought about cancelling as well, partially because the measures feel designed mostly to CYA the corporation and little else. The situation wasn't dangerous enough to immediately roll out masking across the fleet and I'll bet part of that was not wanting the videos and marketing being created with the Mardi Gras launch to be forever covered with masks which was more important than the Delta outbreak obviously. Nor was it dangerous enough for Carnival to provide the option of testing at the port which would have financially put more of a strain on them versus my showing them that I was negative three days before boarding which means nothing by the time I actually get on board. So, you know I don't see the implementation of these measures as very effective and I don't see a true danger there or everything would have been rolled out at once. That said in the end I decided to go on the 21st, I might regret it. We'll see but if I do regret it on this five day voyage then at least I know well enough in advance to cancel NYE's 8 day and maybe the Sailabration next March if it seems like this is just going to drag out forever. I have a friend looking to cancel NYE as it stands and expecting me to convince her why she should go, lol. Hopefully I'll still feel like she and I should when I get back.

I live here, at Port Canaveral and I agree.

Lets hope that everyone abides by the Carnival Rules at the onset of Re-Cruising so that we all can continue to safely and successfully Cruise. All of us Carnival Cruise Nuts need our recharge of Cruise Happiness!!!!

We cancelled our September Alaskan cruise yesterday. Masking for about 10 hours flying in from NJ and then all the masking on the ship was just too much for us. Carnival canceled everything with one phone call, air, cruise, insurance and excursions. They were wonderful and zero penalties. We just decided it wasn’t the right time for us. We have another Mediterranean cruise scheduled for next May. Hopefully, that will be a go.🤞

1) did you get a 100% refund or did they move you to a future cruise?

2) did you have trip insurance?

We were given our choice. We elected the full refund. We booked everything air, insurance, excursions thru Carnival so one call canceled everything. We did not use the insurance it was just a complete cancel and refund. It was a tough decision as we had fantastic non stop flights and a VIP rate of $585 for a balcony +taxes etc. I commend Carnival for the way they handled this.

Completely understandable.  I have three booked and will most likely cancel two of them.  The only reason I may keep the third is no flying involved and I got it dirt cheap.  But if things get worse, that may go as well.

Its strange, your the 2nd person to post Carnival gave a non insurance related refund.  The only choice we were given was to rebook to a future sailing. I guess it is random on who you speak to.

Yes,  simply put a vacation should be carefree, fun, stress free & exciting.  When those usual elements are forcibly removed, its anything but… call me silly, i lime to see peoples faces, not hidden behind a mask, when its hot and humid in the southern Caribbean I don’t want to have a mask on while im on a sight seeing tour. I would miss the smiles on the bartender faces as they serve you a beverage poolside. Im willing to wait until things return to a more normal world.

Just had a wonderful vacation in Gulf Shores Alabama...no masks as we travelled through Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.  It was great!  I will soon be cancelling our Thanksgiving cruise, not dealing with all the hoop jumping.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with the decision. What I like is you made a decision for you and not forcing it down other people. That is the problem we have right now. People and government wanting to control others. You do you and let others do what is right for them.

Well said!  People have just gotten ridiculous....

We have to wear a mask at work (in some situations), so i am used to it. I would rather get out there and enjoy life while i can than wait for the perfect situation. A little inconvenience won't damper my vacation.

When you are an asthmatic, wearing a mask indoors while walking is not a small inconvenience.  Trying to walk around outside, in high humidity, with a mask on is EXACTLY like having a plastic bag over your head.  I really wish people would remember that, of course maybe they are not aware of how horrible and difficult it is.

I'm acutely aware that as an elderly (68) asthmatic with Type2 and hypertension, I can check a whole lot of co-morbidity boxes, but I'm vaccinated - a genuine 2 jab of J&J and Psalm 91- so if you don't wear a mask, whether you're vaccinated or not, I'm good with that. So please don't get used to wearing that mask on my account.  There's so much panic porn attached to this virus that I can't help being suspicious that we are all being played.  We need to start respecting other people's choices without judgement or threats.

And I am REALLY happy that you intend to get out there and enjoy life - THAT'S the perfect attitude to have these days !

Sincere and warm regards,

Kristine

Exactly the way I felt this weekend at a Florida event that I left due to fifty thousand people being shoulder to shoulder. Venue to us, "please wear a mask and be vaccinated", while we refuse to reduce capacity, install automatic doors, or even keep the hand sanitizers filled.

I am vacationing in Florida and haven't put on a mask since I exited the airport.  Freedom feels good.  People can feel free to stay away from me if they are concerned.  I was concerned about the flight to Florida, but there ended up being 100 empty seats and they announced that people should distance themselves from others.  It was great.

Wow, that is pretty crazy.  I just heard about someone's 77 year old Gma being stuck at the Miami airport for 3 days that can't get a flight to Texas.  I think American.  We have had problems here with cancellations in Dallas as well.  My bosses flight was cancelled on Sunday too.  Made me glad we drove this last trip.....happy it worked out well for you!

I've heard of people having bad luck with their flights.  We flew early in the morning on a direct Southwest flight.

Yeah you might be taking COVID home with you since Florida is such a hot spot right now but I digress.

Well, covid is everywhere.  It's not just people in Florida getting covid.  If you go outside your door and interact with anyone then you could get covid.  I am fine with taking a risk.  People who are scared should definitely keep sheltering in place.

Bingo, no fear mongering for me.  There will always be something, I chose live for today, and doing it intelligently

We're invincible. Seriously, we're vaccinated and wear masks. Booked Florida pretty much before the current Delta surge. Yeah, I was wondering at the witching hour what we were getting into.

My sister lives in the panhandle and she called and suggested I not come visit her in Florida next week. She said the sick are everywhere. She can hear them coughing in the stores, not masked (of course), and is so worried that I could get a breakthrough case. If a FL resident is warning me to stay away, I'm going to stay home. 🙂
