Good afternoon, thanks for the Daily!  A lot late to the party today for 2 reasons - first DH had a medical appointment this AM and following that we had to do some banking.  Then after stopping to pick up some fast food for lunch, the CC gremlins got me and wouldn't let me post or like anything.  I tried on my iPad and it kept refreshing the page over and over, then a message "Oops, something went wrong" flashed on the screen.

I used to be able to tell jokes regularly, but got tired being the only person who did - now I leave it to others and enjoy theirs.  No roller coasters for me; I can't even drive over "thrill hills" without almost losing my lunch.  Wow, I thought I was a child bride at 22, but some of you ladies have me beat by a few years!  I did, however, marry an older man - he was 36 at the time of our wedding - but we celebrated our 44th anniversary this April, so we must be doing something right in the true love department!

@smitty34877thank you for today's peek at Miss Camilla; she's gorgeous.

I love seeing other people's wedding photos - such beautiful memories made on those special days.

I'm in the camp with others who would love to enjoy a Mai Tai on a BHB right now.  Unfortunately, we're under a heat warning, and have an air quality advisory due to the smoke from the wildfires in BC and northern Sask.  It smells like sitting in front of a campfire as soon as you open the door; just going out to water the plants makes my eyes water and my nose burn.

I do like today's menu suggestion, but after a week of preparing big meals every night, today I'm taking a break - at lunch we stopped at Wendy's and bought not only lunch, but dinner as well.  Tonight I'm having a sweet chili Thai chicken burger, while DH is having chili and french bread.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  Extra prayers going to all the people in Haiti who are dealing with the devastating earthquake, and a possible onslaught from a tropical storm, and to the people in Afghanistan who are struggling to stay safe from the Taliban.  Clinking the glasses together to celebrate all on the happy list.  Be well, stay safe, wash your hands, wear your masks, and hydrate!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Gerry

Good evening, everyone!

I arrived home this afternoon around 3:00 pm.  The drive was pretty uneventful, but I am really happy to be home.

The countdown to our Alaskan cruise is going quickly now.  With each passing day I am more hopeful we will go, but tonight's news and predictions about COVID and the Delta Variant are sobering.  Looking at the HAL protocol, I think they are doing everything they can to keep us healthy.   I also read through a study done about air travel and feel less hesitant about that as well.

Boy, Miss Camilla is cuter every day!  Thanks, @smitty34877for sharing pictures with us.  I am also glad to hear that Tana is doing as well as she is.

@jimgev I did substitute teaching for 10 years after I retired, mostly to pay for my health insurance premiums, but I did make a little extra for fun stuff.

I had problems with CC this afternoon.   I could log in and get to the Holland America forum, but I could not access any threads.   I'm glad to see it is working again.

Happy Monday everyone,

I am headed back to the coast and DH will stay up here in Vancouver.

He gets to be the transportation for the grands and next week we switch.  I am going to get things done at our home in Waldport in anticipation of our Sept. 12 Eurodam Cruise.  Can't believe it is hurdling towards us rapidly.

True love day is a favorite.  I do not like roller coasters. Got ill riding one once and just the thought of getting on one makes me shudder!  LOL!

Enjoying the pictures of today's port.

Wearing our mask  as required in Oregon and even wearing them here in Washington.  A lot of people are.

Prayers to those on the care list.  Cheers to those celebratiing.

Appreciate all the news and positive posts.  My  favorite read of the day.

Stay well and safe.

We were invited to the new neighbours' this afternoon, for tea.  It turned out not to be tea, it was pisco sours.  (She is from Peru.)  So we had a very jolly time.  They are leaving next week to visit their sons in Prague, so we took them some N95 masks and they were very grateful.  Little by little, people are starting to travel.  I want to go too!

This is not actually me in this picture, but this was the Flying Bobs coaster in the 1950’s at the Forest Park Highlands. I think I was only about 6 or 7 and I can still remember how awful and scary it was 😂. And don’t forget, all the little girls were wearing dresses and my mom was wearing a dress and high heels!

Thanks for all the daily reports, humour and photos.

We have been to Noumea, Volendam Trans Pacific cruises, the first occasion the ship berthed quite a distance from the city centre, a shuttle bus was provided to the information centre. The next time Volendam berthed by the Information centre, the "Casino" supermarket across the street.

It's a gloomy day out, raining occasionally. Temperature 7 C.

Surprised to read of problems accessing Cruise Critic, so far no problems here......long may it last.

Stay safe , take care everyone.

🌺Roy,

so love all the pics again Roy. I bet it was a thrill to be in the air! I remember when we did FOX GLACIER in New Zealand first time for me up in a helicopter and it was exhilarating!! Unfortunately those pictures are from my old camera from 2001 back home on our computer.

Lots of BC is under evacuation alert or evacuation order.  It's looking really bad.

We told DS and BIL to come stay with us if things in their part of the Okanagan get worse. Now with fires shutting down some of the major highways, I’m not sure they could even get here.

So sorry about the situation.  Hope they make it to you safely.  The pictures of the fires so near the highways are really scary.
