Ok, so I am curious...

What with all the criticisms and complaints and problems leveled against Celebrity on this site, has anyone successfully made it through an E-class ship cruise that they'd consider was at least good?

I'm trying out Celebrity next month and in August, and based upon all the consternation from so many on this site, my initial enthusiasm for this line has faded.

Just curious. Peace to all.

There are many CC-ers who very much enjoy their E class cruises.

4-2-N-8 ~ I always try to write honest reviews that provide positives and areas for improvement.  We just disembarked Beyond this morning and I'm working on a review.  There's lots of good but also some critiques.  We sailed with friends who haven't cruised in more than 20 years.  They loved everything.  But for those of us who have been sailing Celebrity for the past 30 years, some things are slipping.  When I read reviews, I want honesty, not just glowing reports nor total complaints.

I hope you will keep an open mind and enjoy your cruise.

We sailed on Edge in a PH when cruising resumed. We had a great time but there were only 900 guests onboard.  The only time Luminae was crowded was the last night, don't know why we just didn't go to a specialty that night.

We liked the PH except for the balcony.  It's long and narrow which made it awkward when we had some people in for a party.  The overhang did not bother us.

Service was great throughout the ship, we tried all the specialty restaurants.  Our butler served us a off menu Indonesian meal in our suite, at his suggestion.

The Retreat Lounge did not seem very intimate. We didn't use the sun deck much.

Edge compared favorably with the S class ships so we are open to booking either S or E class depending on price and what we perceive as value.

I think you will like your experience.

4 -  I can only say out of 14 in our group three (3) years ago on The Edge, two (2) did not enjoy the IV experience only, yet all else for them was great...

You must remember that CC has a few specialist in criticizing, heavily and repeatedly, especially E Class vessels.

While no ship is or can be perfect for all of us, it is for some of us... in many respects of course.

Have fun on the ship and you will meet many passengers aboard who really love the ship and they are not on CC either... LOL

Upon your return, please come back and let us know how you enjoyed your sailing and the ship (both pro's and con's from your vantage point).

bon voyage

If Celebrity ever tried to downgrade me to a PH, I at least know to bring my handy carry-on blow torch to cut a gaping hole through that balcony overhang.

Come he11 or high water, I'm gettin' direct sunlight on me! 😅

Bo, thank you. Great info and I appreciate your time (and others who have chimed in).

I actually do not want to become a gripe'osaurus maximus (or Zenith). 🦖

I just want some good food, a room with sheets on the bed, and a drink here and there.

I'll be sure to do a follow from both trips.

You certainly have those basics, along with a whole lot more (IMO)!!!

We have done 4 cruises on the Edge and 1 each on the Apex and Beyond.   We are currently on the Solstice and have 2 cruises on Mclass booked along with 1 Apex, 4 Edge and 1 on the Ascent.

There are things we don’t care for on each class of ship just as there are things we love on each class.

If itinerary and price wasn’t a factor we would probably cruise strictly E class, but we are enjoying our time on the Solstice.

We had an absolutely amazing cruise on EDGE in August 2019 and loved every second of it (in a SV cabin). A beautiful ship and probably our favourite. Enjoy

We once thought Silhouette was our favourite Celebrity ship, but no longer - when we sail again with Celebrity it will have to be EDGE class.

LOL - love your post OP!

To chime in, we were on the 7 day maiden voyage of Edge in 2018.  Admittedly that was some time ago now so can't speak to changes made since then however DH and I did very much enjoy the cruise.  Thought she was a beautiful ship and of course had the usual great service that we have always been fortunate to have on Celebrity.

Not sure what type of cabin you are sailing in, but we had an IV.  For us, we are glad we tried it but personally would not book one again.  The IV cabin by no means had a negative impact on our enjoyment of the cruise itself overall.

So to answer your question, yes we sailed the E class and enjoyed it ☺️

I truly hope your enthusiasm for your first X sailing resumes and please come back and share your experiences.

We were on the first Apex TA in October 2021 after the restart.

Perfect?  No.

Outstanding and amazing?  Absolutely.  She is an amazing ship with so many beautiful and awesome features.

You should be enthused without any hesitation.

CC is a great place for a wealth of knowledge from many cruisers. I enjoy and respect reading others perspectives of their cruises, class of ships, intinaries, etc. But no way would we book or not book a cruise line, ship, itinerary, etc. based on their positive or negative opinions or experiences. We'll make those decision based on our experiences.

OP, I totally understand where you are coming from! Our first Celebrity cruise was in 2008 on Millenium. That was the same point when I joined the CC community. We almost cancelled that cruise based on what I was reading on these boards. Our TA convinced us that Celebrity was a great cruiseline and to give it a try. We did and discovered that most, not all, of the posts we were reading were overly critical of even minor flaws. We now define ourselves as avid Celebrity cruisers. As for the E class, we cruised on Apex last Feb and had a wonderful time. The ship was beautiful, crew wonderful, and we wouldn't hesitate to cruise on the other E ships.

Absolutely love E-class.  Was on here years ago before a NCL cruise, after reading a lot on CC I thought about canceling because of the negativity.  Thank god I didn’t, had a great cruise.
After going on my first E-class cruise with Celebrity I did realize all the shortcomings of NCL and probably won’t go back to NCL.
I am mostly on here to get tips and a little insight on some ports, and other little things for me and my cruise.
Ignore the negative Karen’s (there are a lot) and enjoy YOUR cruise.

I absolutely adored my cruise on the Edge (in a single IV no less) immensely in Feb 2020. One of my best friends was just on the Beyond (on the same cruise that was so horribly reviewed here, in fact) and had a wonderful experience. I'm currently booked on the Apex for summer 2024, though I may change to Beyond or Ascent depending on what they're doing (I'd consider the Edge, but I'm the one weird person who wasn't all that "OMG MUST GO BACK" to Alaska).

We were on the Edge in 2019 and again last month for a b2b cruise. We had a fantastic time both times. Loved everything about the ship including the 4 dining rooms. I'm not crazy about the IV but my wife likes it very much, so I won't argue about that. Every evening the martini bar was also very crowded, so it was always a challenge finding a place to sit. No big deal for us. We have an upcoming cruise on Beyond in Retreat so looking forward to that experience.

TY for your reply, Reel (and others).

Will be in an EV on Beyond for a 7-night Caribbean out of PE next month, while in another EV for an 11-night Mediterranean out of Civitavecchia in August.

The ships do look incredible, and the itineraries I selected are to try out Celebrity and see if this could be a "long term relationship." I'm a planner, and if/when I allocate my money toward something, I look for a meaningful return on my investment.

So, ... testing the EV. Would always do premium cabins (meaning only cabins that include all top  amenities), but would never consider an RS or PH simply because 1) the balcony overhang is an instant deal breaker and 2) the RS and PH balconies have no hot tub. IMO, and I have mentioned it before, this is a serious miss for Celebrity for these staterooms.

So, when on this class of ship, it'll either be an EV or Iconic (but Iconic only if I bring others along, since with two bedrooms, total overkill for me).

Otherwise, and yes, I get that this site is all about "criticism," but geeze Louise, there are some serious Debby Downers on this site (no offense to Debby Uppers, or Debby Sideways-ers).

We did a TA and Med cruise on Edge and loved the ship, the service, the crew and the food.   It is different than M-Class and S-Class and each have their pro's and con.

I would have not qualms sailing her again and am booked on Apex soon.

I think more people complain about unmet expectations than those that SHOUT OUT the great experiences.
