Here are my results thru my chart. I have not gotten a call from my doctor yet.

Findings:
There is a small left pleural effusion. There are mildly displaced fractures of the left fourth-ninth ribs anteriorly/anterolaterally. There is a suspected nondisplaced fracture of the left 10th rib anteriorly.

You really did a number on your ribs!  Fortunately they will heal but it will take time. The small pleural effusion should resolve on its own too. I am glad you will see your doctor. I as a physician am a little disappointed they did not contact you sooner.

Be careful with the luggage. When I broke my ribs I was taking my husband for one of his many treatments and he could not lift and I am sure I prolonged my recovery getting luggage in and out of the car.

Ouch! No wonder you’re hurting. Let’s hope for quick healing! Take it easy.

Yesterdaywas a mixed day.  The morning I was quite drowsy but got quite a bit done, slowly in the afternoon.  Picked up mail (both street and UPS store) visited pharmacy/grocery, and stopped at fire house and got the 2022 1099's ready for the office manager to mail to IRS..  It was tiring but I think I actually felt somewhat better for getting things done.  I also cancelled a couple of cruises, I still have a couple of cruises on the books, NE/Canada in September and  Panama Canal in November and am unsure but hoping to use my newly arrived passport with them,

I think I slept reasonably well last night,

Never been to Angola, have been involved with Scouts (now coed) for decades

Roy

Sometimes it helps to get out and do things.  Something.  Anything.  Sitting around the house can tire you out as fast or faster than running those errands.  And, the social connections at the fire house and just talking to the pharmacy people and grocery check out clerk help as well.  Good for  you!

@Seasick Sailor I'm sorry your physician did not find the time to get back to you with a positive finding on  your x-rays.  As @cruising sister  advised, get help with the luggage and don't do any heavy lifting.  Hope you feel better soon.

And the rain and thunder continue. Out total accumulation since last evening is now a little more than 3/4 of and inch.  My guess is the ground is so wet bugs and worms are coming to the surface to survive, which might not be helping them that much.  When I was in the kitchen, I was watching a crow walking along pecking at the ground.

Well, here’s an update.

I went down to book another cruise with the Oceania Ambassador.  She was at a meeting and would be back in a 1/2 hour.  So I visited the Casino while waiting.  Went to the Quick Hit machine and put in $20 and emerged with $620.  Think I can get myself a nice pair of Sunglasses in San Juan for that price.

The deposit for the cruise was only $500 so I am still ahead of the game.  Still have my $20.

Terri

Terri, that was a good bit of luck.  For a second, I thought you were going to say you would be buying the expensive sunglasses.  😉  A deposit on a cruise is a much better investment.

Joy, no wonder you are hurting so much.  Definitely, get some one to help with the luggage, and call the doctor for his take on things.  I hope you are a quick healer.

Good morning all!

We actually will have a dry day here today -- amazing, since yesterday/last night the rain and hail came down so hard it sounded like it would come through the roof.  Crazy!

Both the grandsons are in Boy Scouts and their dad (DSIL) is their pack leader.  I love to see kites flying, and my DBIL is an opera NUT.  That is no exaggeration.  He's in Europe most of the year and goes to operas every single day.  He's always been a little bit different...  😉

I like the quote and drink, the wine is one of my favorites.  I think I'll make the meal (not today though) because DH loves honey mustard.  Not sure I'd like it, but it's worth a try.

This morning I have an appointment for a blood test to see if there's any improvement in my kidney labs taken 2 weeks ago.  I've been drinking more than the half-gallon of water/day my doctor told me to do, so I sure hope so.  I will leave right from the clinic to meet BFF for lunch mid-way between our homes.  I haven't seen her in months, so really looking forward to that.

Terry @smitty34877That's wonderful that you were able to sleep 6 hours straight last night.  Very sorry about your cousin's son's good friend.  Prayers for his family.

Katherine @Lady HudsonCongratulations on the weight loss!

Lorraine @cruising sisterbest wishes for a successful surgery tomorrow and swift recovery.

Joy @Seasick SailorI hope you hear from your doctor soon so you can get some kind of treatment.  That sounds so painful!

Carolyn, I hope the lab tests show some improvement.  Enjoy your lunch with your BFF.

Good morning everyone!

DH left the hospital yesterday morning and headed to the same rehab facility he was in October-December so it was old home week for him. He had a number of people welcoming him back. With his memory issues it's good he's in a familiar space. His brother stopped by for a visit as well. Hopefully this stay is only going to be a few weeks as he's already transferring from the bed to the wheelchair fairly well but has difficulty doing it in reverse. He's still on the weak side due to so much time in bed and the UTI knocked the stuffing out of him!

On a positive note the facility was much more organized and on top of things yesterday. I signed the paperwork in a timely manner, they had the order for the bed cane and it will be on today (it took 10 days last stay), he has a room to himself at this point and he's by the window, so many good things. I even got a thank you note from the hospital nurses for all the cookies I baked them (I took them some every day!).

Karen

Karen, that is good news your DH is back in the same rehab facility.  I'm sure it not only helps him to be in a familiar place, but makes it easier for you too.  Hope this stay is a short one.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I'll salute Boy Scouts, never flew a kite, and like opera a little. True quote. I like the meal and drink. Pass on the wine.

I have not been to Luanda.

It's in the 40's and sunny so far today. It's nice to see the sun, although rain and wind is coming overnight. I was so drowsy yesterday, and went to bed early, with a good night's sleep. I had my Cardiology appointment today. Everything looks pretty good, but he wants me to have another stress test. Then this afternoon my alarm system person is coming by; I want to update my 20+ year old system. So, after yesterday, BFF and I have flights to FLL, then Amsterdam to Stuttgart, and finally Frankfurt to PA.

@StLouisCruisers Thank you again for starting us up and our lists.

@ottahand7 Sorry that your original cabin smells awful (not good for someone with asthma) and the location of the temporary one.

@lcand1923 Those flea market sales sound like fun, although exhausting for those setting up and selling.

@cat shepard I hope all goes well at your Derm appointment.

@Lady Hudson Congrats on the loss! I'm down about 10 lbs, but stuck for the last 2 weeks.

@aliaschief Thanks for the great sunrise photo.

@smitty34877 I'm glad you got some good sleep; it can be so restorative. So sad about the police officer who was shot and killed. When will this gun violence end?

@Seasick Sailor Surprising that they haven't called with any results. No luggage lifting! I can't believe they didn't call with those results!! No wonder you have so much pain.

@summer slope I'm glad your tests were negative, but sometimes when there's no answer it's frustrating.

@dfish Nice recipes. I hope DB is doing ok today.

@rafinmd I'm sure it felt good to get some things done. Slow progress. Sorry you had to cancel some cruises, but you want to be in good shape when you next board a ship.

@Cruzin Terri Enjoy your cruise. Wow on those sunglasses prices. Woohoo on the casino win! I like the Quick Hit machines.

@marshhawk I had seen others post about skipping Skagway. Wow, long wait for your test results. Yay on sleeping through the night. I hope DH is doing ok today.

@cruising sister I hope you stay well and negative! Prayers for your surgery tomorrow. My electronic medical record has been telling me I'm overdue for a pneumonia vaccine; I need to talk to my PCP.

@kochleffel Fingers crossed that your Covid test stays negative.

@0106 Nice picture of St. Lucia.

@Cruising-along I hope the kidney tests are better.

@luvteaching Good to hear DH was released to Rehab and is somewhere familiar to him.

Prayers for the Care List, especially those in Turkey and Syria. Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay well everyone.

+1.  I couldn't say it better myself!

The sun is shining here today, it rained all day yesterday, and the reservoir is up to 91.6%.  It had started going down again, and anyway, we still need it to get up to 100%!

No, I am not going to use the shipboard credit for sunglasses.  I will buy a decent pair in San Juan with some of the money.  We had intended to book the cruise before we got on board.  Our TA said the room category was available so we should book it on board for the additional savings and the OBC. So we waited.  The casino winnings made all the sweeter.

Our intention is to go to Italy the third week in October and spend time in Venice, Florence and Rome and then take the repositioning cruise from Civitavecchia back to Miami on November 13.

Hope this works out.

Same ship we are on presently.

3:20 here in Texas and no call from doctor.. My neighbor put the luggage in our back and the sweet guy at UPS picked them up.

I don't think I'll be getting much help between now and when we leave next week. (2-15)

Honestly, what can be done except Aleve, rest and deep breathing?

Joy, I can't understand a doctor not calling someone with broken ribs.  I hope he calls at the end of the day, that is when our doctor usually calls.  Take it easy and rest between now and when you leave.

Even if there's nothing more to be done than what you mentioned, the doctor or his/her nurse should still call you, especially with results that weren't normal.

Your doctor's office needs a swat upside the head - someone from there, whether it's the doctor or the nurse should have called with results by now.  Please call the office yourself and say you need to talk with the doctor because you're leaving in only a few days!!!

Happy Wednesday Morning Dailyites!  My computer says 55 and cloudy.  Yup it's cloudy.    Yes rain coming in as @StLouisCruiserssaid earlier, and while she is heading south to get on a ship?  The temperatures will drop back into the below freezing zone.  Ah the south in the winter.

@RedneckBob I dont know if you have been on here for a year, but the Fly a kite day was posted about a month ago.

BFF sent me an email yesterday, he said he had cruise news.  Well it turned out we will be skipping Skagway and going to Victoria instead.  There was apparently a rock slide in Skagway at the port, which may be the reason why the ship is not going there, but the sad part is that I have paid for a 13 hour excursion from Vancouver to Victoria two days before our cruise.  Apparently we will get, well BFF will get the cancelled excursion cost back, and I guess we could do the Gardens with HAL, instead of Land Sea, and I can get the money back from the 13 hour excursion, and choose to do something else that day in Vancouver, I guess i need to talk it over with the guys, but I would love to get that 800 plus back from LandSea.

Well I got the ball rolling on that, I just emailed the BFF.

Annie, I'm sorry about losing Skagway but you will like Victoria.  It's a beautiful city.  How is Chuck doing today?

Good morning all,

I woke up to an alert on my phone saying possible Covid 19 exposure. Through my blurry eyes I didn’t see much more and it disappeared. I am sure it was the cruise or the plane. I wore my mask in the airport and on the plane and did not attend any shows on the ship. My fingers are  double crossed.. I have  no symptoms and a negative test this morning. The rest of the family is healthy. Surgery is tomorrow morning.

I feel lucky with only some aches and pains from my fall. I have had broken ribs in the past and it does take time to heal and not much they can do. I remember my husband had to hold my head so I could lay down on the bed due to the pain. @Seasick Sailorit is frustrating when you don’t hear back in a timely fashion. If you can sign on and see the report just skip the mumbo jumbo and read the impression. That should be clear enough to know if a break or not.

Roy it sounds like you are making strides. There will be good days followed by not so good days. Pneumonia is such a risk for us senior citizens. Hopefully everyone is up to date on their pneumonia vaccines. There is actually 2 to get now.

Prayers to all on the care list and for the earthquake victims.
Lorraine

I'm so sorry you woke up to that possible Covid exposure alert this morning.  Good idea to test yourself.  Prayers for a successful surgery tomorrow and a rapid recovery.

I believe it's just one shot of each type. I received Prevnar-13 as soon as it was in stock here, and Pneumovax-23 later. Prevnar has now advanced to Prevnar-20, and the CDC says that if you received that and don't have specific medical conditions, you may not need Pneumovax-23.

Shingrix, which I've also received, requires two doses.

I'm definitely in favor of Opera Day and have already ordered tickets for the Glimmerglass Festival this summer. Honey Mustard Chicken would suit me, if anyone wants to bring some over, along with Sauvignon Blanc (doesn't even have to be the chosen one). I'd try the cocktail, but probably only once. I haven't been to Angola.

I've been coughing since last night, and I'm a bit concerned because that can be an early symptom of covid. Yesterday's test was negative and I'll repeat the test tomorrow. The RSV vaccine trial will probably also want a swab and would send a courier to pick it up. I don't have to go out today.

Paul, I hope the tests continue negative for Covid.  These days coughing too much is way more worrisome than it used to be!

Your doctor's office needs a swat upside the head - someone from there, whether it's the doctor or the nurse should have called with results by now.  Please call the office yourself and say you need to talk with the doctor because you're leaving in only a few days!!!

I called the clinic at 5:30. Person told me doctor was already sent my urgent message. No one to speak to til 8 am tomorrow.  Sure wish we were back in Coeur d'alene where doctor's work overtime..

Seasick Sailor  on your report it is  inexcusable that your doctor did not call you.  With broken ribs you need to be watched closely for pneumonia because due to the pain you tend to not take normal deep breathes.  Today doctors rarely tape your broken ribs but they certainly give you instructions as to what to watch for and specific deep breathing instructions.

Glad to hear that many of you slept last night.  Hope that all who had procedures or SO who had them, are feeling better today.  I am getting an epidural for the back pain tomorrow.  Hoping it works.

Thank your for the care list for my son.  He is still in the hospital and it looks like he will be there at least through the weekend since he has a drain in and needs IV antibiotics. They are watching the abscess now that moved to his lung which will hopefully drain now that the liver abscess is draining (they are connected) otherwise he has to be on a long course of antibiotics which will mean a port and at home care for around 8 weeks.  Hopefully he will be able to go to work if he needs this since he is a special ed teacher and his kids need him.    I am so frustrated that I can't be with him, but he lives a long plane ride away and I can't travel right now.

Prayers for all especially Ukraine and the people in Turkey and Syria.  What a tragedy.

I hope your lab tests come out better this time.  Hope the reunion with your friend was enjoyable.

Thank you Lenda, Vanessa and Sandi.  Unfortunately the test results show the kidney function is even worse.  😞  This is so puzzling and maddening.  Six months ago they were fine.  The only change is how sick I was in Nov-Dec.  I'm sure I'll be hearing from my doctor before the day is over.  Meanwhile our DSIL (the PA) has been peppering me with texts and questions.  So glad today is his day off, LOL.

I had a wonderful time with BFF, and it was good to have her support and prayers when the results came in by email.

Carolyn, I'm so sorry.  I'm sure they'll figure out what is happening.

Maybe the doctor needs to be replaced.  I am so glad you got help with the luggage.  No heavy lifting!

Sorry to hear that. Is the doctor doing tests? Renal US? Do you have any history of kidney stones? New meds? I'm sure DSIL already asked all these questions. Prayers the cause is found so it can be treated.

The @Scrapnanaconcern continues:

On his WC thread and with my apology for a quick hijack of his thread, I copied and asked @The-Inside-Cabinif he had seen Monday's post on The Fleet Report and Daily wondering if he had any update about @Scrapnana.

@The-Inside-Cabin responded on his WC thread (post #317):

"I don't have any update."

Thank you Vanessa.  Yes, doctor has been keeping an eye on it with regular tests.  Six months ago everything was closer to the normal range.  No history of kidney stones and no new meds (although I'm guessing they will decrease/take away some I'm on).

UPDATE!  UPDATE!  UPDATE!

I thanked Pete @The-Inside-Cabin for his response ⬆️ from earlier and he immediately posted the following:

"I am in touch with Kathi.  I will share updates when able.   She is back in Virginia.   She will probably post something on her blog in due time."

(Perhaps Pete contacted her after his earlier response??? It's good to know she did arrive in Virginia.)
