Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @kazu and @richwmn.

I like curried chicken. No ginger here to kiss, and I occasionally like hot tea. Good quote. I'd like the soup and drink. Pass on the wine. I have been to Sitka. One good day in history, and one sad one. 

 

It's 40F and partly sunny. Later in the afternoon, the bad weather comes in as high winds, rain, possible sleet and snow. I had a restless 4 hours of sleep last night. The pain may be decreased a little, I think due to the addition of Cymbalta. I have PT early afternoon, then a grocery store stop. Then I'm in for the weekend.

@tupper10 Sorry about the issues with your DM. My DM had started writing checks with dates way in the past. Before I moved her here from NJ, I had all the bills sent to me and my name put on the checking account, plus removed checks from her. It's was tough seeing a bright woman develop dementia. Hugs to you.

In this weather, today IS a good day for hot tea, but no to anything curry, so I'll also pass on the meal.

Sitka is one of our favorite ports in AK. The new pier is nice.

Finally made it above freezing, heading to windy 50°; single digit nights are back in the forecast. If the rain also arrives, road conditions will be unsafe.

Good morning!

 

It's 9F on the front porch and we've a predicted high of 20F today, It's also blue skies and sunshine. The taps are dripping so I haven't frozen up which is good. I plan to stay home and stay warm today. Lots of black ice issues are being reported and we had winds last night which resulted in power outages.

DS and DDIL are both "gingers" and will give them a hug and kiss if I see them. I'm a tea granny from the word go - coffee stunts my growth. I have quite a collection of Murchie's teas. Today's is "Snowflake" which is a black tea with hints of coconut and almond. My fave are mint teas. I have a neighbor lady who comes down for tea most days. 

 

Absolutely love Sitka and have been there multiple times. I'll be there in July and September this year if all goes well.  DD DH really enjoyed the Raptor Center. The totem pole park was accessible for his scooter and we walked it many times. We've walked over the bridge to Japonski Island, explored the downtown area, and every trip had to get fudge at the cathedral store as well as jelly from the Lutheran ladies. The downtown is so unlike the ports of Juneau and Ketchikan as there aren't any jewelry stores and the like.

We are also in the midst of a record-breaking freeze, it's down to -10 , with a wind chill (they say) of -21.  So I'm not going anywhere, I think Gerry should stay home, too!  The poor (stupid) hummingbirds are having a difficult time.  Pat brought in the feeders last night to keep them from freezing and the birds were waiting for him to deliver their breakfast as soon as it was light.   They (the feeders...) are freezing in less than half an hour, so I have attached some hand warmers to the bases, in the hope that helps.  They are frantic to get at the feeders and buzz around his head as he hangs them.

 

I'm sorry there are not-so-good happenings in Dailyites' lives.  I enjoy Annie's posts so much, she seems to be such a compassionate person, I don't like to see her in a funk.  Cheer up, Annie, we all love you!  And Terri, I'm so sorry about your DH,I'm praying the Cymbalta will help.  I hope Ren had a happy birthday yesterday, and good luck today on your drive to Toronto, @sailingdutchy!

 

I like butternut squash, although we don't have it often, we did have some last night, so I will curry some chicken thighs instead.  Good idea for this evening.  I would like to give my ginger DD a kiss, but she is on the other side of the country.  We have been to Sitka a few times, it's such a nice spot for DIY, but the last time we were there we took an interesting ship's tour to the raptor centre, the aquarium (science centre) and the bear sanctuary.  

 

My laptop got a new OS last night, and I don't seem to be able to add any pictures.  I'll try from my phone.

I had my hair cut yesterday. Scared me half to death when he styled it. Curled everything back, no bangs. But all turned out after I showered and rewashed my hair. Whew!.

 

I think out of all our dinners over the past 49 days, our dinner in Canaletto last night was disappointing. The chef said they received a new clam juice that is extremely salty when I sent my pasta, shrimp and clams back. He apologized for not properly tasting it before prepping. Allen had pasta with sausage and it was terrible too. We said no thanks to any replacement,  no dessert, had a cappuccino and out.

 

We will be in the cold spell category in Texas. My friends are already going to start the taps dripping and opening cabinet doors. Just hoping we are able to get home Sunday night safely! Fingers crossed 🤞

Good morning from Hamilton, afraid I have come down with either the flu or a cold. The weather is cold and sunny, expecting some snow flurries this afternoon. Hope kazu will be okay and sat safe n the storm. 
making mug cakes, saw Jamie Oliver make them on instagram and decided to try lemon mug cake. Too lazy to make regular one.

we have had sprinkling of snow but no big storms. This is weird to see green grass out back. 
hope everyone on the list is well and prayers for those who are I’ll or undergoing treatment.

think we are going to Alaska in the spring. I have a friend in Vancouver who wants us to visit so I am thinking to take the plunge and cruise up north. 
we had the worst take out pizza ever last night from Pizza Pizza.I mean frozen was better. I just didn’t feel like cooking.

you know it’s time to ea healthy when pizza looks bad.

OMG is right RNB.  We did spend a lot of time in the Crow's Nest, especially since we did not have a balcony.  I also spent time up there with my Kindle and iPad, usually on the starboard side.  We also played trivia every day, and one of our teammates was named Bob, but he was a friend of many years from the Seattle area.

I think I'd leave it as it provides so much entertainment and conversation.  We actually are enjoying it even if we never eat it.

So far we have not seen a single snowflake although they claim it is snowing and has been snowing for an hour or so.  Just not over our house.  I entertained myself by snaking the laundry room drain and the drain in Sue's bath tub.  I think I found the source of trouble as there is a lot of hair in that drain.  I also combed Sue's sparkly rug in the dining room and found the pin I dropped when I was sewing along with two wads of electrical tape and some wire.  No wonder I was getting stabbed!

Off for an adventure to a DMV an hr west of us that does all the tasks we need!  Which is everything. Hopefully we have all the documents we will need to prove our ID, our NJ residency and our ownership of the vehicle🤞.  Glad we have some sun and a balmy 32!

I got all the way to Michigan Secretary of State office and they refused my MD Driver's license I had to go home and get my passport.  Who knows what people do with no passport, I guess the even more elusive birth certificate.

When I moved to Los Angeles in 2001, I applied for a California driver’s license and surrendered my other one, receiving a receipt for both the old license and the California license application. This is good enough for a traffic stop, but when I needed photo identification in a bank, I used my passport. A nitwit employee told me that United States passports were not valid in California.

 

That bank has since gone out of business.

I guess you paved the way for me as I had no problem turning my Ohio license into a Michigan one and registering the car.  

 

Snow has begun.  It was pretty weak at first but has now picked up quite a bit.  While the temp is 34F, the wind makes it feel a lot colder.  It is brutal out there.

Haven't seen any posts from the Seattle area today ---- we are COLD!  Small amount of snow last evening/overnight but now at 1:45 pm it's 19 ----- bluebird sky but windy.  Not supposed to warm up for a while & snow's threatened for Thursday.  Hubby's playing hummingbird feeder bingo -- bring one in, put a thawed out one out....
