We went to Nova Scotia just before you know what, lured by the 6 hour flight. Air Canada were using 737 max planes. All got grounded. We had to fly via Toronto. 11 hours including a 1 hour stopover. Still worth it. I have been told that the cross Canada rail trip can be a bit tedious, but we would give it a go. Don't go to Vancouver without at least a few day in the Rockies. Stunning.

Would definitely recommend the Rocky Mountaineer , brilliant way to see the Rockies at leisure

Worth the extra for gold leaf. The folk in silver leaf miss a lot of the beauty. We did it as part of our once in a lifetime trip. Flew to Calgary, Rockies tour in Fairmont hotels, Rocky mountaineer, stay in Vancouver, Alaska cruise.Booked it all independently again for 2020. All cancelled, so rebooked it all again for 2021. Cancelled again. Perhaps next year.🤔

We went to a wedding at the inn on the lake last summer. Beautiful surroundings and food / bar but not so impressed with the room we had.

When we stayed we had a lake view room which was amazing.

There are weddings there most day's and there is a nice wedding pavilion.

Graham.

I did that tour 20 years ago. It also included a night’s stay at The Empress on Victoria Island the night before boarding ship…… wow - loved that hotel.

Fantastic holiday.

They've since moved the Empress to Victoria on Vancouver Island.

We went to Victoria on a Japan and Alaska cruise 3 years ago, was so used to paying with cruise card on board forgot to take credit cards out with me. We went to a bar and couldn't pay so had to get the shuttle bus back to the ship get the cards out of the cabin safe, bus back into town, pay and bus back to ship!!

We had to bail out tablemates who did the same thing on a Med cruise about 25 years ago. We are still in contact and have never let them forget...😂

To cap it all when I went back to pay a fairly small bill for a couple of drinks and explained what I had to do they said you shouldn't have bothered, it was ok! But I felt guilty not being able to pay.

Agree the extra for Goldleaf is worth every penny, absolutely loved, loved, loved that trip, would like to do it again but sometimes the second time fails to meet the first, however in this case we would risk it!!!. Banff and Vancouver were fantastic and the Alaska cruise was the icing on the cake, one of the best trips we have ever done😊

I completely  agree that if anyone is going to Vancouver then they need to do at least part of the Rockies tour.

I worked in Pictou, Nova Scotia for 3 months and loved it even though it was from September to December, I saw all of the fall colours before it got so cold that the sea in Pictou harbour froze trapping a Canadian Naval ship in the harbour.

I spent very weekend driving to different parts of the province.  My favourite place was Antigonish.  Coming home on 23rd December was interesting  I had to join a queue of vehicles to be escorted by snowplough over Mount Tom on the way to Halifax. When we took off from Halifax the plane had to be defrosted as it taxied along the runway.  I later persuaded my husband that he really wanted to visit Canada so we did the Calgary to Vancouver pre-cruise tour and then went on Crown Princess up to Alaska.

I  am still in contact with some of the people I worked with on that project

Phil!

I am delighted to report that it has clouded over and there is a lovely refreshing breeze.  😮💨

Tropical is nice in small doses, or with appropriately built houses etc.  This, from this morning, looks quite Mediterranean

I have just received a phone call telling me that my cousin has passed away.  I saw her last week and was shocked to see how she had deteriorated health wise since I saw her the previous week. She was a year younger than me but we always talked about what we and my sisters used to do on Sundays at grandma's.  My favourite was sitting under  the table eating " toffee fishes" while the "grown ups" talked about "Grown-up things".

Well that was some storm last night. The flashes of lightening woke me up.

The grass needed a good watering and it certainly got it. The patio at the end of the garden looks like a mini swimming pool.

The news is reporting flooding and some of the train lines from Perth north are down.

Hope everyones homes are fine.

It rained during the night and feels fresher, but probably not enough to do any good to the fields which are in dire need.

Had one of those night where I didn't seem to sleep and now feel exhausted. Off to work shortly too!

Came home from work last night to find cones in the road so it looks as though the water board are going to have another go at fixing the leak that has been there for months!

Have a good day.
