The Fleet Report and Daily for Friday October 21st, 2022

Good Friday morning.   A nice warm up is due here.  We may have 3 days in the 70s.    We can get a lot of extra outside work done.   I have a few planters to store and dig up all the calla lilies.    I will wait a day on those because some of those are in clay.   Give another day to dry up.

My DB went to the ER and they removed his brace and bandages and saw he had a "bleeder".   Strike 2 for his orthopedic surgeon.  First missing tendon attachment and then not shoring up all bleeders.   He is in good spirits and feeling a lot better.   Thanks for your prayers and concern.

Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports Rich.    A very interesting quote and so true.   Salvador da Bahia is on our itinerary for our Grand SA.  Thanks Sandi for the beautiful photos and the warning about the crime in Brazil.   Crime is everywhere.  I remember back in 1984 we went to the casino on Paradise Island Bahamas and someone had their gold necklace ripped off.   As long as there are drugs we will have this kind criminal activity.

@HAL4NOWI am sorry you are battling Covid and I hope that you aren't feeling too bad.

@aliaschiefThanks for taking us along on your river cruise in France.   Food porn is always good.

@0106Thanks for ending today's recipe with a crab dish.   I miss Maryland blue crab.  We missed our trip to Baltimore this year so no overload on crab meals there and if the seafood store still has MD jumbo lump crab left we always bring a couple of pounds home.   Ditto with frozen Gulf shrimp which is really hard to find in Michigan.  Costco sometimes has Chicken of the Sea pasteurized crab from Asia and the lumps are big and it is a good substitute for a crab hungry former Marylander.

Prayers for all on our care list, the people suffering from the hurricanes and the people of Ukraine.

Have a wonderful rest of the day and a great weekend!

Good morning from the Nieuw Amsterdam in beautiful Aruba.   Internet has been very slow this whole run through Panama Canal, but great cruise.

A couple of things that might interest the group here…

In Puerto Quetzal, we did an excursion to a drive-thru zoo/safari park — Auto Chapin.  We’d been to Antigua and didn’t want that long drive again.  The 4.5 hour safari park tour was great.  A new offering, I think.  As you can see from photos, you get close to the animals.  Good day there!

Another thing…we last transited the canal in 2014.  It has changed.  They’ve conquered the famous Calebra cut and it’s beautiful through there.  So the Panama Canal is worth a repeat, if it’s been awhile.

That’s it for now on this difficult internet.

Best to all.  Have a great day!

Great but cold day in southeastern PA.  Prayers for all in need.

Celebrating birthday today with twin sister.  Planning on a quiet dinner tonight and seeing kids on Sunday.  Also starting to at least think about packing for back to back on Anthem of the Seas starting 11/6 and Enchantment of the Seas starting 12/1.  What was I thinking — with Thanksgiving between the two??

Have Zoom meeting today with DH’s long term care folks.  Pain in the neck but necessary to keep home health care coming to help out.

Have a great day, everyone.  Katherine

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I think babblers just like to hear themselves talk, except, of course, if they're babies, then they're adorable.  I've got my Mom's button box, but have never counted them.  Nachos make a great bar snack, not that we've been in any bars in years.

@kazuI'm sorry you're having issues with HAL; you don't need that!  I can understand the sick feeling, as we received another email from Air Canada (or Air Can't) regarding the January flights for our Caribbean cruise.  They've made changes so that we're going to fly home Ft Lauderdale - Toronto - Ottawa - Toronto - Saskatoon.  Seriously!?!  And when I clicked the button to "Confirm or Change", it issued confirmations for us.   Argh!  I'm currently waiting for a call-back to straighten it all out. I thought about canceling the flight, but don't want to have to pay an additional $500, the cost of reservations today.

@Lady Hudsona very Happy Birthday to you and your twin sister; may you both have many returns of the day!

It looks like our warm weather streak has ended; last night we went down to -3 and it is going to continue to get colder over the next 7 days.  DH emptied all the pots (wish he could help Jacqui) and put them away, and took the pumps out of the fountain and bird bubblers for the year.  I worked on getting some clothing into suitcases and looked at sewing security pockets into a couple of pair of DH's pants.

I don't think either of us would  enjoy today's menu suggestion, but appreciate how others really would.  Today is Friday night pizza night, so we'll check the online menus to see what appeals to us and enjoy pizza at the kitchen table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for all who are hurting, especially those with family and health issues, and cheers to all who have something to celebrate.  Stay safe, everyone!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Good morning  to all. It  is chilly but will be in the sixties later. Babbling does not need a day as I honestly  think there is way too much of it anyway.I will salute nachos day and refuse to count buttons.

We had the salt cod dish when my niece  married into a Portuguese  family in Fall River Massachusetts. The wedding food was prepared by the grooms  family. It is  very good but a bit of a pain to make.My niece makes it for holidays and her children  continue the tradition in their own homes.

@Lady Hudson, Happy Birthday  to you and your twin!

@kazu. Jacqui, I am sorry to hear of more issues and problems.

@Quartzsite Cruiser, Lenda,I am so  glad you have help and hope things go well on Monday.

During our safety drill on a river cruise, we also headed to the top and we’re told, in all seriousness, that if the boat sank only our feet would get wet!

I was told the same thing.

I must admit I don’t read cruise critic everyday, so it’s possible I missed the conversation about Holland America ships docking in Port Canaveral.  I haven’t seen this before.  Will HA continue to use this port?  I hope so since it’s much closer to us than Ft. Lauderdale.

Port Canaveral has been used several times on Canada to Florida repositioning cruises but not a regular port of call.

Heading to the senior center this afternoon to hear a music program on Cole Porter and then to the club house tonight for another music program.

These sound most interesting.  Can you come back after them and give a brief report.  Cruise Critic is available Night and Day.  😉

As I live in Cocoa Beach, I would love Hal to use Port Canaveral. They only come here on repositioning cruises usually twice in the fall.

Babbling probably got its origin in Babylon at the tower of Bable.  few understood it then and fewer now.  It's just another babbling brook....

Good Morning from the Noordam

It is cool and rainy today even though we just crossed the equator.
@Lady Hudsona very happy birthday to you and your twin.
@HAL4NOW hope you feel better soon

We have had some itinerary changes again. So I have to try and do some research on New Guinea. Never been there before so I am fine with the changes. Some are very upset.
Have been using the pool with DD . The lift is wonderful. Staff very attentive. We schedule the time because only 2 staff members are authorized to use it.
we got caught in a heavy rain storm while in the pool. It was a real challenge getting out. The staff wrapped DD in a dozen towels.! She thought it was funny!
     Stay safe and enjoy today

@StLouisCruisers   Tell me about your camera, please....you post absolutely fabulous pictures.

Oh my goodness, thank you so much!  I am not a professional photographer with a fancy camera, that's for sure.  The photos today were taken with a point and shoot Canon Power Shot SD870 IS.  Now I use an IPhone as my camera along with my point and shoot.  The IPhone photos are sometimes much better than the point and shoot!  In 2015 I wasn't using my IPhone 5s for many photos due to lack of storage space.  Now I have an IPhone 8 (not one of the fancier new ones) but I have a lot of storage space so will not be upgrading anytime soon.  📷

That is so wonderful that your DD is able to enjoy the pool with the help of the great HAL staff.  I loved hearing about it.  Glad you are all enjoying this cruise.

Edited to add we went to early vote and it was fine standing outside this morning.  No wind, abundant sunshine and mild temps.  Stopped at Walmart for a couple items.  Then we got lunch at Chick-Fil-A.  Time to get busy with PT exercises.  I missed my morning ones so have to catch up.

Happy, happy Friday everybody and thank you Rich @richwmn , Roy @rafinmd , you are keeping us together day in day out , and all other Daily-ites for my morning read.

I have not been posting much because we were for a few weeks on a wonderful cruise in the Mediterranean on the Oosterdam where of the 24 days 22 of them were in a Port so it was very busy but we have experienced and seen a lot , we had a wonderful time .
This was our 4th cruise after the Covid pause and hopefully we can soon spend a lot more days on the Blue Hulled Beauties they are so wonderful for our spirit.

Speaking about spirit , I would love to share a few pictures with you of the fantastic crew we were very happy to see again after they had such a difficult time earning a living to take care of their families while at home during Covid .

Good afternoon from the Nieuw Statendam in Cape Canaveral. It looks to be a lovely day. Craig is on the Kennedy Space Center excursion. I stayed onboard and enjoyed the quiet morning, packed, had a drink at the Ocean Bar, then lunch at the Dutch Cafe.
