Good morning Daily-ites on day 31 from lovely Rotterdam.

So happy Jacqui is on her way home and Kathi has her daughter flying down to take her home. Let's pray them all the way home!

Rudi's last night was very nice.

0109231819.thumb.jpg.6c38ea17c6e42bcb4fa168da7e646eab.jpg

This morning we are docked at Curacao. People are getting off the ship and lined up for their tours. It is 7:20. The little kiosks are still asleep.

We did not make plans so we may just take a walkabout for a bit.

Prayers lifted to our Daily family. (Jacqui stay out of the casino restrooms with slippery wet floors!)

Good morning everyone.  Thank-you for the daily report.  I love bittersweet chocolate.  I appreciate all of our houseplants, some of whom have been passed down from generations.  Peculiar people add color to our lives and deserve their day.  I feel sadness for the author of today’s quote.  The meal suggestion sounds interesting.  Today’s drink sounds tasty.  Bar Harbor is one of my favorite places, we rent a house there from time to time.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list especially @kazuand @Scrapnana.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events!66260457-1B97-40FF-AC37-D54A149DC27E.thumb.jpeg.e4f28c43ca153bcf249932dfe5183d9a.jpegA017E70E-D15D-49E5-ADC4-DB1354065E90.thumb.jpeg.9118a8c93f017868688ad4ecf43c4835.jpeg

Thank you Roy for posting today's daily and fleet reports.

It is 44°F and raining here in North East England.

Having been a chocolate sales representative for over 35 years I love milk and white chocolate but I am not keen on dark bitter chocolate unless it is covering marzipan.

Today's food sounds good.

Prayers 🙏 for everyone who is poorly.

I hope everyone has a nice day.

Graham.

Good Tuesday Morning Dailyites!    Very early for me(see my post from last night, it explains all)  but not the fact that I drank too much coffee last night and got to sleep at 2.  Up at 6?  arg.

d2dde2797c2bc828fce758e720f74dd3.jpg

Well it is still dark, temp is 34, have not gone out yet to see if Bubbles survived the night.  I checked before I went to bed, he was all wrapped up in the second blanket. We need to get out of here by 7:15, still not sure if there is a rush hour into town.  Have no idea what happens in Atlanta anymore.

Have a great day, I am sure that there is a nap in my future.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Report.

Chance of freezing drizzle this morning, I think I'll stay in.

Interesting collection of days.  I like chocolate, even bittersweet in moderation.  I have several houseplants that I've kept for years.  I am a peculiar person and so is everyone I know.

Not sure about the quote.

I'll pass on the meal and drink, but hope the wine is tasty.

I've never been to today's port.

Prayers for everyone.

Stay safe.

Good morning friends!  Like Annie @marshhawksaid it's 34F here in our neck of the woods, clear skies with a high of 59 expected.  I'm freezing!  But I don't have anywhere I have to be so that's good.  Not sure where you are headed today Annie since I haven't read the rest of the posts since last night, but good luck!  Today is a "bittersweet" day for me.  We became engaged on January 10 many years ago.  However my Mom passed away on this date 10 years ago.  Prayers for her soul and all my other loved ones in heaven.  🙏

Congratulations to the Georgia Bulldogs (Go Dawgs!) for winning their championship game last night in spectacular style.  Wow, just wow!  I bet Rich @richwmnstayed up late to watch it. 😄

Speaking of Rich, thanks to him and Roy @rafinmdfor creating and posting the Daily and Fleet Report.  I'm enjoying the maps.  Today we have bittersweet chocolate which is fine, but dark chocolate is my favorite.  Aren't the chocolate chips we all buy to put in our chocolate chip cookies, bittersweet chocolate?  I appreciate a houseplant but am glad I gave up growing any in my home.  It just didn't work with our lifestyle in the past couple of decades.  I moved once and needed to stay in a hotel for a week between closings, and ended up with a roomful of houseplants to care for there.  😏  There are lots of peculiar people in this world!  Graham @grapau27I can imagine who you are referencing when you say you know some peculiar folks.  The kung pao chicken meatballs sound interesting so will wait to see the recipes.  No thanks to the drink and wine.

Prayers for all on our Care list today, especially Jacqui @kazuand Kathi @Scrapnana.  I'm happy Jacqui is on her way home, and that Kathi has a plan to return home where she can undergo further treatment.  The uncertainty of not knowing what to do next is so stressful.  Best wishes to both you ladies!  Cheers to our Celebration people.  I'm always happy to hear good news!  For instance, one of my seven nieces put her house on the market Saturday and got 4 offers between Sunday and Monday.  They signed a contract with an offer over asking price and only one month until closing.  Now that's good news!  She and her DH will be building a home on an acre lot which will take all year to do, so she's living in my twin's home until it's completed, including niece's DH and two dogs.  Should be lots of fun!  🤪

Today's port is Bar Harbor, Maine which was posted here last on July 4, 2021.  I'm sure this is a very popular port for our Dailyites.  Here is Rich's post for July 4 so you can retrieve your photos to post again.

Thank you Rich & Roy for creating & publishing the Report & Daily! A lovely morning, already 51 and if the day turns out half as gorgeous as yesterday, I will be thrilled.

I have an early bone density scan scheduled for this morning, and then this afternoon, I go to my favorite class at the gym. @dfish Debbie, I find classes are great for me. The instructor puts together a workout designed to maximize the time, and good instructors will offer different options for folk who can’t do burpees or high jumps. And often choose great background music. I get bored on my own. I guess I am not disciplined enough for that.

Prayers for all who need our support. @kazu & @Scrapnana that means you!

Cheers to all who are celebrating. Get well & stay well everyone.

Robert Mondavi Private Selection Pinot Noir

I used the 2019 vintage info, since that may be the easiest to find. And trust me this is easy to find! I might try a taste out of curiosity, but the consumer reviews I read tell me not to expect much. Numerous online distributors with prices starting at $8.95.

Winemaker’s notes

Robert Mondavi Private Selection Pinot Noir Red Wine is medium bodied with soft tannins and a lingering finish, making it an elegant offering for dinner parties. Fresh flavors of rose petals, strawberry, vibrant cherry and fresh raspberry abound in this pinot noir wine, while hints of Asian spice, sweet tobacco and Madagascar vanilla bean underscore aromas of ripe red cherries and violets. This Robert Mondavi wine is crafted with fruit from California's Central Coast vineyards, where slow ripening in the cool climate by the Pacific Ocean encourages complexity and depth of flavor. The phenomenal grapes produced in the region ultimately create Central Coast wine of the utmost quality, offered by Robert Mondavi Private Selection at a more accessible price. Pair this red table wine with roast meat, poultry or seafood, or serve it at an elegant wine and cheese event. Store this bottle of wine at room temperature, but refrigerate for 30 to 60 minutes before serving at around 60 degrees for optimal taste. Please enjoy our wines responsibly.

Good morning! We had a wonderful dining experience last night. Yes the wine selections on yesterday’s menu I posted was a typo. Today we are in St Lucia and tonight is White Night. Whether permitting tables are set around the pool, majority of folks dress in white. Big BBQ and feast served by officers then band, dancers singers perform and a lot of dancing among guest. A bunch of mature guest acting like teenagers!

When I think of peculiar people Red Neck Bob comes to mind!😁

Enjoying a cafe latte and breakfast will soon arrive.

May post some food porn pics later.

Thanks for the reports

Good morning everyone. I have what started out as a small plant given to me in 1980 when I began working in NYC. It now almost reaches the ceiling. I have never fed it and water it only when the leaves curl and I know it needs it. Somehow it lives and thrives in spite of my lack of proper care.

Off to my clubhouse later today for a hot game of rummy cube.

Stay safe everyone,

Carol

Good morning,

Happy Tuesday.

Another work-filled day.  Have a lot to do.  Many boxes to open and things to put in place.

Also have a hair appointment in the middle of the day.

Will try to get stuff from the apartment to the house so that we have stuff to eat, etc, at the house.

Not sure that sleeping there tonight will work. Too many if’s.

Will update later.

Good morning, everyone!

Even though they promised it, the sun never made an appearance yesterday.  It seems we will be going a long time before we see it again.  Oh, well.  Another quick post as I am off to the lab for blood work before going to the gym.   @cat shepard my classes are on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, so today I am on my own.  That's ok.  I'll walk the track and use the weight machines.  It is good to mix things up now and then.  So glad that @kazu Jacqui is heading home with a repaired elbow and that @Scrapnana Kathi's daughter is flying down to Florida to help her mom get home.  Both women will be much happier at home and better able to recuperate.

Today's meal sounds like a winner!  It can be a dinner when served over rice or a rice substitute or it can be an appetizer, grazing food.   https://inquiringchef.com/kung-pao-chicken-meatballs/

This next recipe does not call for the 5 Spice mixture the first one did and it doesn't fry the meatballs - they are baked.  https://fitfoodiefinds.com/kung-pao-chicken-meatballs/

This next recipe gives directions for making the meatballs gluten free.  I never knew that soy sauce contained gluten.  https://iowagirleats.com/kung-pao-chicken-meatballs/

Good morning  to all.I am peculiar  in that chocolate  is not my favorite  thing.Hard to believe but true.I am also a known plant killer.I recently drowned  a Christmas  cactus  even though I watered it once a week.

We have been to Bar Harbor by both land and sea.DS and I went to Cadillac  mountain to watch the sunrise with a hundred or so other  folks. He recently rented a house there with friends and their children. They rented wet suits to be able to go in the water.Beautiful beaches but the water is frigid.I can swim at the Cape in 63 degree water but could not get past my ankles there!

Things are  returning  to normal here except I remain wary of dog walking. There is a slight difference  in leg length with the operated leg temporarily  one half inch longer. This will eventually  settle(I hope) but it leaves one a little  unbalanced. We have had a few different  aides to help care for Tana  and it is a challenge.

I was so glad to see that @kazu will be home today and @Scrapnana will go home tomorrow.

@marshhawk,my family in Atlanta tells me that there is always traffic! And that road with all the lanes scares me more than NYC and Boston combined.I hope you can get yourself into the office with DH.

Good Morning from Zuiderdam!

@StLouisCruisersSandi is correct, I did have a late but enjoyable night last night. Actually, ESPN is doing a replay right now and of course it is on my TV.

I had a very good time returning to Panama and having the opportunity for see a friend again. With the exception of a few minutes on the way back to the ship, we had good weather the entire day. We were nearby and heard, saw, and felt the lightning strike that hit Zuiderdam. There was only minor damage so we are on our way.

We are at sea until the 18th when we arrive in French Polynesia.

I hope everyone has a great week. Thanks again to @rafinmdRoy for publishing the Fleet Report and Daily (with maps) each day and to the F&B department for their continued support.

I think I'll probably pass on today's days although I am likely peculiar in the traditional sense.  I've been  to Bar Harbor several times although only once on a BHB.  The Sartre quote sounds a bit strange.  The meatballs are a bit tempting but I think Ill pass.  My alternative is Classic Caesar Salad, Filete de Ternera Apanada Con Parmesano (Veal Loin), Mango/Blueberry Crisp as served on MS Prinsendam January 10, 2019.

Everyone is peculiar in some way, so maybe Peculiar People day celebrates everyone, but I thought first of the definition that Graham posted, referring either to strict Wesleyans or to Quakers. I've also heard the term used to denote any religion with which the speaker is unfamiliar.

Either of the meal suggestions would be OK with me, as would the wine, although I think that Oregon produces the best Pinot Noir and as a practical matter I'm more likely to be drinking one from the Finger Lakes. The cocktail would not -- no pumpkin drinks, please.

I have been to Bar Harbour on the Norwegian Gem. It was cold and rainy and I don't think I have a lot of pictures, but I do have a story (possibly everyone who has visited Bar Harbour has heard it, whether it's true or not):

Martha Stewart had a vacation house there and at one point decided that she wanted a yacht. There is a trade in used yachts, but she wanted to have one built to her specifications. She went to the best yacht builder, reviewed typical designs, discussed customizations, and worked out all the details of interior finishing, etc. When she was ready to place the order, the yacht builder told her that it would take 18 months, because there were 15 orders ahead of hers.

She objected, but he wouldn't budge. Eventually she asked, "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?"

He replied, "Yes. You're number 16."

Cartoon for Jacqui, flying with a broken elbow.

Congrats on making 4 stars!  I hope you are feeling a little more normal after returning from the other side of the world.  It really does a number on you having to switch so many time zones at one time.  I wish we could see you on the GSA&A this October.  We've had it booked for several years now but will be changing plans soon at DH's request.  Just too long for him.  I know you will all have a wonderful time.

Thanks Graham for your kind words.  Strange how the same events happened on the same date for you as well as me.  I asked my DD how her foot is doing and she feels it's healing quite well.  She's always healed quickly after surgeries, thankfully.

This last one includes peanuts in the dish.  That would be very interesting.   https://silkroadrecipes.com/spicy-asian-chicken-meatballs/

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

This looks delicious!  I would enjoy it with the rice, myself.  Thanks for sharing these great recipes.

Atlanta traffic is frightening!

This is called spaghetti junction.  Where's the traffic here?Tom%2BMoreland%2BInterchange%2B3.png

Enjoy your replay!!  Crazy the Zuiderdam was hit by lightning, but I'm glad damage was minor.  Hope there are plenty of activities for everyone during the next week (especially trivia).
