Lunch was good.  Today we went to my hometown, Montclair and drove around.  Growing up there was wonderful.  The first house is where I grew up and the second house is where my parents moved to when I was in college.  We had lunch at a deli and had a delicious Sloppy Joe sandwich (which is different than one might expect)!  Fond memories!

Beautiful homes, Jen.  Both of them!  Your first home is very similar to the home will lived in for 42 years, and where we raised our 3 daughters.  We didn't have a wrap-around porch.   Ours was in the entire front of the house.  We sure do miss having a porch.

Thanks for noticing !  It’s actually our 14th  but who’s counting… lol

We aren’t the types to do big celebrations for anniversaries or birthdays.  Usually what happens is I book cruises and then we say this one can be our anniversary present to each other.  This one can be our birthday presents to each others etc etc

We do the same, nothing big.  Hope your Anniversary was wonderful.

I made Blueberry Buckle Cake today.  Mmm Mmmm good.

Can you smell it?

May want to add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to it.

@Jimbo Here is the recipe.

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/7985/blueberry-buckle/

Some notes:

~I added a teaspoon of lemon extract to see how it would turn out.  Can barely taste the lemon flavor.  Maybe a little bit more next time.

~For the topping, to get a crumbly effect, instead of the smooth topping like I have, make sure the butter is cold and not softened.

I use King Arthur’s All-Purpose Flour and their Blueberry Buckle Recipe turns out to be the same as the Allrecipes’ recipe.

Beautiful houses.   I especially like house #1 and that patio.  Nice to see new owners are taking good care of both houses.

Good morning.  Rain forecast for Sunday hasn’t  eventuated, yet.  DH decided he wanted to cycle laps of Parramatta park.  Said there were walking tracks.  I haven’t been to this urban park before.  Had a thought as we were driving there that there was a historic building within the park…so whilst DH did 7 loops of the 3km cycling track, I visited the interior of Old Government House.

Now keen to visit some of the other  heritage sites in Australia that I am yet to visit

That looks really nice.  I am experimenting with virgin cocktails to accompany my late afternoons.  I am going to look it up.

Last night we had the opportunity of being a part of our first military wedding.

The bride is my daughters sister in law and the groom is a proud   Marine. He currently serves on the Vice Presidents security  entourage.

Our daughter Christina was Matron of Honor and little Miss Zoey was flower girl.

The ceremony and reception were beautiful.

Semper Fidelis.

We do the same.  Our September trip is both a belated 35th anniversary (Feb) and this year’s Christmas gift.

Both beautiful homes. I love that wraparound porch and wide stairway.  That looks nothing like any Sloppy Joe I’ve ever seen!  Is it turkey?

@bobmacliberty  How is Micheline feeling since her surgery last week?

She's doing OK.  Not as well as she had hoped, but probably where she should have expected to be.  She somehow had the idea that she'd be almost back to normal in a couple of days.  It's going to take a little longer.  She stopped taking the Oxy yesterday even though she still has some discomfort at times.  She hates taking Oxy at all for fear of getting addicted, even though all of her doctors have told her that it's needed.  She's mostly bothered now by some numbness and tingling in her left leg and foot which is also normal as the nerve that the herniated disc pressed against gets resettled.  That goes away in days to weeks.  I'm going to see if she's up for a short walk today to get out of the house.

Thanks for asking.

We’ve stayed at the Waldorf Astoria and no complaints.  We’ve also stayed at the Westin Times Square, the Hilton on Avenue of the Americas and the Sheraton on 7th and 52nd .

That was some years, ago . No complaints about any of them .

We stayed at Sheraton and Hilton was our go to hotel until ten years ago when we discovered the michealanglo on 51st and 7th perfect location ( but need short taxi Uber Lyft to msg) they have a 600 sq king suite with a bath and a half . But last two trips we had the king grand suite with two full baths , huge living room and 850 sq ft . Lots of great bars and restaurants really close . Will be happy to suggest some restaurants and bars .

Thanks for the suggestions.  The Michelangelo looks like a great location.  Off to do some research.

This went by very fast. Seems like just yesterday we were talking about suboptimal bedding.

Andy and I went to last nights Red Sox vs Mets game. We met his sister, BIL and our niece there. They live near Albany and are big Mets fans.  It was a beautiful night for a game!

IMG_0127.thumb.jpeg.ddba216f34dd7e94f5f62406b87cfec5.jpeg There was a pre-game ceremony honoring our military’s Special Forces.  The Red Sox organization does such a nice job with these recognition ceremonies. As the proud daughter of a member of the US Army’s 82nd Airborne and a Green Beret in Vietnam, I was very moved.
