Good morning, Dailyites.  Jacqui, @kazu, I'm so sorry there is still no definite diagnosis for Jose.  I do hope they figure it all out and that you can get into the hospital pdq to be with him.  Are they having an outbreak or is it just precautionary?

Praying, too, that 2022 is better than 2021 has been.

There was a contact with a staff member who tested positive so the patients in his unit are being tested and as long as everyone stays negative until the 10 day test, I should be able to go in on January 9th.

The hospital is in dire straits with over 95 staff off work and isolating with covid.  I really feel for the staff in Jose’s unit as at least, before, I could help a bit.

I just heard Betty White died this morning at her home at the age of 99.  She would have turned 100 on January 17.  She's always been a favorite of mine with her sweet but witty personality.  RIP!

Ahh, sad.  Sad 😢 She has been a favourite of mine too as well as many people. 💔

RIP

Yes, they definitely need you there.  I'll be praying too, that everyone stays negative and that it wasn't omicron that was the exposure - that seems to be so much more easily transmitted.

Sad news about Betty White.  Her manager was quoted as saying he thought said live forever.   He also said he did not think she feared or dreaded dying because she wanted to be with her husband Alan Lunden again.

Betty lived a long life doing what she loved and making so many of us happy with her acting and great personality.  RIP

While checking Barbados to see what Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria are doing, noticed Crystal Serenity is delayed there with reported covid cases as well.

Keep your masks, preferable N95 and not cloth, on around anybody.

I'll second the advice to wear your masks and preferably N95 or KN95 masks.  I had to go into the Post Office and two stores today, fully masked, but saw very few others with masks.  Without everyone doing their part to stop the spread of Covid, sadly it will be with us a lot longer than necessary.

We had a wonderful  day and I had an amazing experience while on a tour with Jim Archer in Tauranga , New Zealand .

On April 1st  2013 while on the Oosterdam on a cruise from Auckland to Sydney to Hawaii and ending in Vancouver we landed in Tauranga and with a small group  we first stopped at one of the beautiful beaches , than went to a Kiwi farm to do some fruit and honey tasting  and from there went to Rotorua where we witnessed all of the geothermal activity in the Te Puia Whakarewarewa Valley and to the indigenous Maori Village .

The kiwis are grown about 5 or 6 feet off the ground ,they keep the branches tied down for easy picking of the fruit.

This is Jim Archer a wonderful guide who is of Maori ancestry.

Just try to pronounce this Maori word in one breath ..............

Before we were allowed to enter the Maori Village we , the  strange looking people from a different world, had to go through a special ceremony and Jim had made me Chief of  about 100 visitors , to meet the Chief of the village .
I was guided by an older lady a village elder and I had to convince the real Chief that we had come in Peace . They had first tried to scare me with their spears , loud voices and wild dances. Everybody even DW had to be at least 5 paces behind me and than  I had to pick up a small evergreen branch off the ground after which we were than allowed to enter the Community Hall and witness a number of dances and of coarse the Haka and once I had to touched noses with all of the Haka dancers in stocking feet we were all treated to more wonderful with smiling dancers performing their routines .

I will never forget this honour Jim bestowed on me and for a long time on that cruise I was called Chief by  a number of other guests who toured Rotorua that same day.
So I can really recommend Jim for a wonderful day in Tauranga  / Rotorua

Tony 😍

Awesome photos Tony.

Thank you for posting and letting us see where you were.

Oh my gosh, I'd forgotten she was married to Alen Lunden!   Now they can walk through the clouds together forever.

@kazuthat's not the kind of news any of us wanted to hear; I know I'll keep praying for better results in the days to come.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

It just amazes me that you can eat that large pizza for lunch and then pack down that beautiful dinner!😁 Graham maybe you could enter our annual Coney Island Nathan Hot Dog eating tournament next summer.

Cheers!🍾

Well, I am sorry to say that my New Year is off to a bad start.  Jose’s lumbar puncture results are back and there is NOTHING there to help.  He’s being started on O.T. & physio to determine his “baseline”.  They think it’s metabolic encephalopathy.  Still working on it.  This does not bode well. 😢. I hope and pray that I am wrong.

I'm holding a positive thought, Jacqui.  A number of years ago, I became very ill -- dizzy, weak, forgetful, disoriented, vision impairment, crashed my car.  It lasted about six months and went away as mysteriously as it appeared.  I saw every kind of specialist.  Nobody had a clue.  Probably some unidentified virus.

I realize Jose's symptoms are more extreme, but the body does try to heal.  Prayers continue for Jose's improvement and strength for you.

Do you have a source for the Crystal Serenity information?  There's nothing about it on the Crystal forum and the ship is supposed to be there until early tomorrow morning.
