Good morning, everyone!

Wow, yesterday was a busy day!  The luncheon was great and all my classmates enjoyed themselves immensely!  They all want the recipe for the chicken spiedies.  So, I will oblige!   Farkle Friday was fun as always.

Today is just as busy.   We are meeting friends from Ohio in Frankenmuth for lunch and then a trip to Bronner's.  They are following us home and will spend the weekend with us.  Tonight, other friends from Ohio are joining us for dinner - brats and corn on the grill.  I'm sure tonight will be a late one for us, meaning we'll stay up past 10:00 pm.

Today's meal is one I'm saving as I may make it for Farkle Friday on a cold winter night.  Or a crisp fall night.  As @StLouisCruisers Sandi said, it does sound like food from childhood.  Sometimes it is nice to have those meals again.   Years ago we put together a family cookbook and I have had fun making some of those recipes for Farkle Friday.  As DB Bill called, the Flavors of Childhood.

The first recipe is what we would generally think of for Hamburger Casserole.  Ground beef, tomato sauce, pasta, and a few vegetables.  There are some peas in this one, so it is a complete meal.  https://www.spendwithpennies.com/hamburger-casserole/

HamburgerCasserole1.thumb.jpg.b98a4fd8254a7beb3ee8fd8bf882fa4f.jpg

Hamburger Casserole is really very versatile and you can make it what you want.  This one doesn't have tomato sauce in it.  It has green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and tater tots.  https://www.momontimeout.com/the-best-tater-tot-casserole/

HamburgerCasserole2.thumb.jpg.7eeab12adce36a7156d3e723c9e75a69.jpg

This next one is a keto version of Hamburger Casserole.   https://healthyrecipesblogs.com/cheeseburger-bake/

HamburgerCasserole3.thumb.jpg.c4b4147a9a566a608b04b9a53855f5ac.jpg

Want something super easy and ready to eat quickly?   Try this four ingredient casserole.  https://12tomatoes.com/4-ingredient-hamburger-casserole/

HamburgerCasserole4.jpg.4dfedc136a3aaaf6540d1167cf6bd919.jpg

This one is almost a ground beef hash recipe.  https://www.backtomysouthernroots.com/5-ingredient-ground-beef-casserole/

HamburgerCasserole5.thumb.jpg.9ffdab9c82551f45b0b914493c76bbbf.jpg

I'm sure there are a lot more variations out there, but this can get you started.  Or, make up your own!   Anyone have a favorite hamburger casserole recipe?

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Good morning and welcome to the Fall season. Can’t seem to get out of my late to bed late to rise schedule but it’s not like I have to get up and go to work. We had an enjoyable dinner out with our friends last night. Great food and companionship.

We’ll be headed to the Commissary for grocery shopping in a bit and then we have nothing else planned. Might go to our local brewery as they are having Octoberfest and raising money for charity. Food is being prepared by Knight’s of Columbus.

Nice sunny day and “Alexa” says it’s currently 64 which I thought was a little too cool. It’s really 72! Alexa is getting senile.

So that’s what’s happening in our neck of the woods. Enjoy your first day of fall. Bruce

Good morning from central Texas.  It is 78F and feels like 78F with 90% humidity and a dew point of 75F.  It may be the beginning of fall, but we're under a heat advisory today and tomorrow.  The hourly forecast says both days will be 98F to 99F, but the daily forecast is calling for 100F both days.  After the rain comes through tomorrow night we'll be in the low 90s for the next week, then the 80s.  I like the cooler temperatures of fall, but I do not like it getting dark earlier and earlier.

Sign language is very important to many.  Love notes are nice, and we need to be more aware of ovarian cancer.

Another great quote from Robert Frost.

I'm not sure about the hamburger casserole and will wait to see what Debbie @dfish has to say about the meal.  We'll pass on the drink, but the wine sounds nice.

We missed St. Anthony in 2003 when the captain of Rotterdam VI determined it was too rough to tender.  This is the best picture of the three I took of St. Anthony from the ship.

IMG_6051.thumb.JPG.c8008af30981ccf95a90f70a68bf6654.JPG

Three interesting days in history.  There was a mechanical tabulating machine in the office of the elementary school I attended.  It was huge.  The 1122 Concordat of Worms was important.  I remember "That'll Be The Day".  Buddy Holly, who was from Lubbock, was big in Texas.

@kazu  Jacqui, I'm sorry you lost the hydrangea which had such a special meaning.

@Crazy For Cats  Happy 12th Birthday to Jasper.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, I hope Ren and the team do well.  It would be great if the boys decided to go to the same college and could play together again.

@ottahand7  Nancy, I'm glad the weather will be better by game time tomorrow.

@ocean sounds  Have safe drive to IAH and safe flights tomorrow.

@RMLincoln  Maureen, I'm glad you enjoyed the cruise and kept well on the cruise.  Congratulations on the apartment in NY.  It will be a busy fall, but you'll get it done.

@Cruzin Terri  Terri, I'm glad you were finally feeling better, and I hope the missed day with the Prednisone does not have a bad affect on you.

@kplady  Thanks for the pictures of St. Anthony.

I don't have a travel sunrise for September 23, and as Ophelia starts to affect our weather I won't take one today.  This is from one year ago at the school administration building (in a former school) across the street from my development.

Happy First Day of Fall to all!!  Thanks for the daily and fleet reports.  Though it is ~70F now it seems a tad cool.  We won't hit 100F today so it is definitely fall!!

I celebrate the days especially sign language.  I used to finger spell a lot (even taught my girls how to).  Started in HS where I would sit in the front of the class during tests and then finger spell the answers to the "not so good" students in the back.  And when I worked at Burger King (crew to ass't mgr) we had a girl who was deaf so we all had classes on sign language so we could "talk" to her.  I still remember some but not a lot.

Frost may have something there.  I will pass on the food and drink and never been to St Anthony.  Very interesting days in history!!

Well, as predicted, I didn't get everything I wanted to do done yesterday.  But in a way, that was the plan.  Nails and toes done, things laid out to pack, got my cabin assignment and boarding time, packed up some clothes I don't need anymore to donate (was doing some wash so....), ride to the airport nailed down (a friend is going to take me), looked at how I am getting to MIA/FLL in Feb and reserved a car to drive to LAX for Feb (I have an appt 2 days before embarkation in CA so that is complicating things a tad), "talked" with a Aussie friend who lives in Shanghai with her husband (I am glad she is still there and doing well!!  I worked with her in Saudi), renewed my annual travel insurance and goofed off a tad.  LOL!!  Today is gym and try to finish the rest of my to do list.

Thoughts for those on the care list and cheers to those celebrating.

Have a great Saturday everyone!!

Good Saturday morning and happy Fall! Thank you for the Daily and Fleet reports.

The meal and drink of the day sound good. I always use ground turnkey in my hamburger casseroles. They bring back memories of the meals my mom cooked trying to feed six kids on a budget. I love being creative with mine.

It is rainy and chilly today. I will have to deal with a bored dog who refuses to go out in the rain. Indoor stuff today.

Thinking of all on the care list.

Celebrating with all who are celebrating.

Have a safe and healthy day.

@smitty34877  I’ve just caught up to the news of Lou’s passing. I am so sorry!  I felt close to you both times our Metro North train went through Yonkers on our way to Manhattan and back up to Poughkeepsie. Both times I felt like I wanted to get off, go find you and hug you. Of course on our way down on the 5th I think Lou was in the hospital, and on our way north on the 20th your world was gone. I can’t imagine the emptiness juxtaposed with seeing him everywhere. 💔 💐

Maureen

Thank you so much. I would have loved visiting with you, even under the circumstances.Congratulations on the move. Yonkers is not that far!

Happy Saturday Morning Dailyites, and Happy first day of Autumn.  I wont say fall, it happens too much around here.  It is cool, has a breeze, feels like autumn. My favorite season, the colors of the trees, the last of the flowers, the sun gives off warmth if you can find a sheltered area to hang out in.  This season is beautiful in Georgia.  Start at the top of the state, and work your way south to Florida, and you can make the beauty of autumn last the whole month of October.

I do need to get a few things done today, and I figure if I go out and clip one branch of that darn tree every hour, while I work, I should be done by next April.  But the push is on to work solid for the next two weeks, so that while I am gone on the Rome to Home trip, a decent pay check will arrive.

And so now, off I go....I still have a few loose ends to tie up regarding the trip, and I was supposed to get together with a friend I made on the HAL cruise in May, but need to put off for one week.  Too much stuff to do here.

Good morning. It certainly feels like autumn here. Cool and cloudy this morning. Yesterday when I ventured out I could spot lots of color in some of the trees. Temp right now is 55 with a high predicted at 67. I am not sure if the sprinkler system was turned off yesterday since I was gone part of the afternoon. Hope so. I think in another day or so I may be ready to make today's meal.

It is good to see and follow along with others cruising. I am putting together my "to do" list and it is getting pretty long. Today is tackling the spare bathroom and its associated cabinets which seem to have been accumulating odds and ends  (often outdated) over the past year. And I need to try to continue the clothes culling. The back of the walk-in closet seems to hold some real surprises. I hate trying on clothes to see if they still fit.

Take care all and my best wishes to all.

Susan

Good morning,

We had quite the hail storm blow through here   DGD was not a fan. She had her first sleepover and made it all night without waking up. DGS is not sure he wants the interloper here or not. He is used to having gma  to himself.

Not much on a way of good news for Murphy. My information from talking to one of my nieces (not the mom) is  the  repeat CT scan was not good. Lots of black space on the left side of the brain where brain tissue should be. This is where she had the stroke when the ECMO  machine malfunctioned. They said it could be anything from slight right side drooping to devastating physical and cognitive impairment. So sad for this baby and her parents.

It looks like most of our posters are off cruising. Everyone have a great time.

Prayers for all on our list and those in need around the world.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn. Fall is here!

Sign language is important for many. No love note here. Ovarian cancer awareness is important; it is what took away my friend Ruth recently. Interesting quote - wishing alone won't make things happen. I like the meal, pass on the drink, and yes to the wine. I haven't been to St Anthony NL.

It's chilly and cloudy here today, with a high of only 67. Brrr. We'll get some rain, but most will be in eastern PA. I got to sleep until 4:45, when some movement initiated the terrible leg pain. I sat up and leaned forward, which after a while eased it enough that I could fall back asleep until almost 7. This has to go!! Now that I'm up and about I'm doing ok.

@kazu I'm so sorry to hear about your hydrangea. Is there no way to save it or root a piece of a cutting? It's good to hear that Ivan is improving.

@Crazy For Cats Happy Birthday to Jasper!

@StLouisCruisers I'm glad you feel better today. I'm glad Ren and Colton got some time to visit, even if short. Cool about them both being invited to visit Notre Dame.

@ottahand7 Good news that you'll get to the game tomorrow.

@ocean sounds Good thing you checked on your flight! Safe travels tomorrow.

@Heartgrove Cool on the Captain signing ship models. Nice photos.

@RMLincoln Welcome back. I'm glad you enjoyed the cruise despite the delay in starting, missed ports and the weather. And wonderful that you stayed healthy. Wow and congrats on getting the retirement apartment so soon! You've got a lot to do!

@Cruzin Terri I'm glad you're feeling better. I always worry I'll forget my prednisone for my eyes. There is so much to see in Italy; don't wear yourselves out trying to see it all (you'll just have to go back!).

@kplady Thanks for the St Anthony photos.

@dfish Such fun with all your social activities. Thanks for the recipes. I've made some low carb cheeseburger casseroles in the past.

@cruising sister So sad to hear of the CT scan results on Murphy. Prayers for the family.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

Good morning all!

It feels good to be able to get onto CC easily again.  I don't know, but it almost seemed like Celebrity blocks CC when you're onboard -- 😉  I could get onto any other site but not this one.  Even the service in port wasn't great, and of course I didn't have much time anyway.  Will try to catch up in the next few days.

We got home last night and had a great cruise.  It actually exceeded our expectations, we weren't sure what to expect after not sailing Celebrity for 6 years.  One huge improvement, they now have all Indonesian, Filipino, and Kenyan crew instead of eastern European.    It almost felt like being on HAL!  The best of all was our dining stewards, they treated us like royalty and we loved them all -- especially our wine steward "Robert" from Kenya.  He was such a sweetheart.  So we will continue to use Celebrity as our "back-up" cruise line for shorter cruises like Alaska and Pacific Coastal.  Their horrible laundry package and lack of good longer cruises prohibit taking longer cruises (for us).  But for short cruises we have no complaints.  The food was very good and the entertainment was excellent.

We had a bit of a wait getting across the border back to the US, then met my sister and her DH for a late lunch before continuing the drive home.  It was a long day, and the usual disembarkation problems in Vancouver.  I slept 11 hours last night!!

We have a full day ahead, return the rental car in Everett, pick up DH's car from our daughter, and then this afternoon our son is coming over to help put up a new smoke alarm.  It started "chirping" the night before we left (of course!)  and is still chirping.  And of course it's the one up high on the cathedral ceiling and we need to get the extension ladder out.  We'll replace it with a new one with a 10-year battery like all the others in the house.  Sometime in the next couple days will be a Commissary run to get groceries.

Debbie @dfish the hamburger casserole looks perfect for dinner tonight, I'm pretty sure I have everything I need.

I hope everyone has a good day!

Our fantastic dining crew with DH and me.

Last night we greeted the Police Memorial Ride to Remember, to our city for their overnight stop.  They are riding (bicycles) from the Ontario Police College near London, to Ottawa, a distance of 400 miles.  This is to remember their fallen comrades. Tomorrow  they will attend the National Memorial Service on Parliament Hill, where 11 names will be added to the Memorial Wall.  Sadly, there is already a name for next year, as an RCMP member was killed yesterday in BC. I am proud my son is participating in this ride.  He is honouring a friend's wife, both RCMP officers. She did not die in the line of duty, but passed away from brain cancer, 37 years old, with 2 young boys.  We usually attend the Memorial, but DH is recovering from  pneumonia so we will watch the Live Stream.

Hi!  I have a little time before we head out to lunch.  Have to refill the athlete!  It was quite sunny and warm at the fields so I stood nearby in a shady spot but my feet are tired from standing so long.  The end score was 3 to 2 FC Dallas.  Afterward I got a shot of Colton and Ren meeting up.  Colton had removed his jersey and you can see the new gear all the players are wearing.  It's what we call a vest but sure looks like a sports bra!  They have a place on their back where they put a little GPS thing.  It looks like a flat battery.  It's to record their stats. They can tell how much they run or how much time they're on the field, speed, etc.  Ren used to wear something like that on his shoe strings a few years ago.  That's when he registered a speed of 17 mph!

Well, we're going to eat soon, so I'll finish reading later.

Good Saturday Everyone!

Welcome to Fall, we are very tired of the very hot Summer we had (whining) but still have some 80's coming up. The trees are changing so it is getting pretty around town.

They are saying rain today, which we really need but currently it is partly sunny and 70F, so we will see.

@cruising sister, thank you for the update on Baby Murphy. Very sad results on her CT scan indeed. Prayers for the family, not much else I can say at this time. Comfort and peace be with any decisions they make. How is the planning for the GV going? I am a bit overwhelmed but bit by bit I think it will come together, we still have some time.

We have a family friend who is an Ovarian cancer survivor, very blessed to still have her in our lives. She just found out she will become a Grandmother for the first time so we are all ecstatic! This Teal Talk day means alot to us. We have been on walks to supoport research etc.

Today is the 35th anniversary of my DF death; he died young of liver Cancer. Went to the cemetary to 'see' him. 💔

Hamburger hotdish absolutely reminds me of my childhood; goulash, tater tot hotdish and spider hotdish to name a few. Yum! I make them still, mostly in the Winter. My mom was a very cook good and taught all us kids how to cook so we do well with cooking. IMO it is a good thing to teach children that lifeskill.

Safe travels and lots of fun to all who are currenting sailing and those who have upcoming cruises. The list of people traveling/cruising is impressive! Lucky ducks....😊

Prayers for all of us and special prayers for those who could use a bit more; you are in our hearts.

Celebrate your life everyone, we are the lucky ones.

Have a good rest of the WE everyone and take care,

Caron

Taking a few minutes off from laundry to sit so I thought I would check in again. @cruising sisterI am sorry to hear the news of little Murphy. What a terrible thing for her and her family to be going through. @CruiserclI am very over whelmed with GA activity but it should sort itself out if I can stay calm and not try to rush things. I think I am just overthinking what I have to do. And the realization that I can't control the weather when it is time to get to San Diego is intimidating .... I have had the same problem with other winter cruises, but for some reason it is stressing me more this year. Maybe that is because I am older.

Back to work. And maybe I will treat myself to a short nap.

Good morning and thanks all!
Welcome home @RMLincoln sounds like a good cruise!

Welcome home @Cruising-along, glad you enjoyed yourself!
My DH lost his aunt at 21 to ovarian,  mine survived into her 90s.  Such a terrible and tricky cancer.
@cruising sister sorry to hear more sad news.  So hard on this poor family.
